I'm really looking forward to this movie so thought I'd try to WIP together Ralph... from the upcoming Disney feature 'Wreck it Ralph". Disney's response to the other 'it's good to be a badguy' films from other companies. This is as far as I got before getting a little bored with him. I'm not pleased with the likeness but I like the eyes and may use them again. Edit: I was trying to be clever by making a reference to 'Runaway Ralph'... the famous children's storybook mouse. Before I was done typing I had confused myself! Wreck it Ralph is the Disney movie coming soon to theaters. There are at least two trailes for the movie currently in circ…

I liked the Sintel Character from Blender so much that I am converting a version for A:M. Sintel is Open Source so my version will be open source as well. The conversion proved better that I expected. So far the conversion had included various levels of additional deformation meshes as well as Proxy meshes and other layers. Its been a pain cleaning these out. Next will be to fix the few bad patches (not too many) then to add hair and the a rig.

After a lot of thought and debate I have given myself the green light to start this project. I wanted something short and doable within a six month time line. So with these thoughts in mind I have the following planned. A story that requires... -Only one character model. -Only two set models. -Only 5 prop models. And that's it. I have the story written already. It's based off of a longer script I have planned for the future. I wanted to do a small trailer like project but make the trailer a story in itself. So far the story would only be about 2 minutes long which I think is very much achievable. Keep in mind that this will not be my primary project. …

Had some extra time this month to work on an upcoming episode. I'm toying with the idea of putting 3 seven minute episodes on DVD. It would be nice to make a bit of cash for my efforts. In any case, here is a scene I finished involving Super Mega Fox as she toys with a fox hunting villain in an overinflated duck costume. Comments more than welcome! Ballet_test_C.wmv

A photographer friend from Astoria, Oregon posted this pic on Facebook a while back and titled it "The Clam Before The Storm". I felt the urge to do a short animation with an idea that immediately popped into my head and scared away the voices for a while. It is my intention to once again prove that even though the animation is crude and amateurish, the clip can still be funny. To Be Continued. . . . .

Here's a random doodle... I guess you could call it a test of mouth shapes. What I find interesting about stuff like this is how emotion can be conveyed with no other change other than the jaw/mouth. Adding some eye and eyebrow animation would yield even more interesting results and of course yield that wonderfully expressive emotion 'anger'. randommouthshapes_sm.mov

I have been working on a small animation. I am rendering the animation in version 19 netrender. Netrender worked very well in the process but I ran across OpenMP. I saw this setting in the options as well. I selected the setting during the rendering and it after rendering without. The first rendering took about 21 minutes. The second with OPen MP selected took 19:42. Is this setting active and taking advantage of the hardware or is getting ready for the future? Also I notice the dialog box for GPU rendering can be selected. Is this just a place holder as well? Steve

I'm making a project that involves a solid-spoked wheel, much like many car wheels are today without hub caps. To cut down on the modeling I used some lathing and duplicate techniques. I based my lathe outline on a rotoscope diagram. I used two CPs at every corner to make a sharpish but still-beveled edge... This wheel has 8 spokes (with 8 holes in between) and a bump on each spoke. The easiest way to model a round bump or hole is to stitch it in on splines between two other splines. That means a minimum of four splines across for each instance of a hole and a spoke with a bump... To support 8 holes/spokes, i need to do a 32 cross sect…

Bought some perforated steel plates to use with stop frame work, noticed the moire effects when one moved over the other and thought,"Ill photo that". It was too cold to venture out doors ( by UK standards anyway ), so decided to try something similar in AM using cookie cutter decals.Managed to make about 35 over two days. Here are a few of them. Apologies for large file sizes. Grid One was the first one, Two grids, one using circular hole, the other square holes. There was about 10 of those in different settings. Then added colour and different grids.Grid Fourteen and G27 give an indication of those. Then, last night, thought to try cookie cu…

Test of Bullet friction. The three tablets are all the same, but the planes they slide on have different friction settings. The friction is in the object's "Bullet Static Object" properties. Bullet seems to be better at stopping than Newton was. on the Chor in the PWS and choose Simulate Bullet to try it yourself. SlabSlide07 unsimmed.prj

I've been updating some of my old models including this wooden desk chair. The large image is from today, the small inset image was rendered on Dec. 20, 1997. If nothing else my colour sense seems to have improved.

Since I'm starting over, I always start with this. It's my favorite vehicle from my favorite movie. There are no decals, yet. I'm still building it. Eventually, it will have an R2 socket and completely animated. It comes directly from the 1977 schematics and my personal memory of having the physical model. It is a work in progress. It's awesome to have this outlet.

Thought id out up a little of what im working on. Id like to say right now that im no modeler, hence the incredibly awkward creases and such. Good animation is my goal for this short and i was hoping you people with more experience could give me some pointers and point out things i should change. Anyways, heres a short little sample, 3 MB. www.pallidus.net/dball1 Thanks all, SeanC.

Just an update of a project Im working on in this 800 KB Sor3 mov clip I have a galloping action that goes to a jumping action then back to a galloping action still needs work but it's a start...(pegasus horse model) I cant seem to get the hang of transition to next action to look very good so I just copy and paste keyfames from one action to the other to start a new action in the sequence.Anyway Im having fun even when I goof up.LOL Mike Cossey My briefcase SBC yahoo briefcase link...I hope http://f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/mscoss...case.yaho…

What do you guys think?... it's my first model. But I kinda like the way he turned out... I must work on making my models smoother next time. I was actually kinda frustrated with A:M for a while it's veeeery difficult for me to get smooth surfaces... I will try to keep the 5 point surfaces to an absolute minimum. Now I will start adding bones. I'm gonna use the "backbone" tutorial to add the 2001 skeleton. I hope it animates smoothly. Anyway... comments, opinions, questions are most welcome! HEY. I needed a good AM baseball recently and couldn't find one, so I made one! A baseball is a mathematical nightmare, and I wanted raised seems and stitches for extreme closeups- so I modelled it stitch by stitch like a the haitians would. When I was done, I had me a real good model that looked great in a TV commercial, and I thought that I need to build a library of Hi-Res sporting goods. So in my free time I've been putting a few hours into that task and thought I would fly it by ya'll. The basketball uses the Hash Basketball Material, yes, but I improved on the 'pebbling' of the pigskin. I hope to add a few more objects and then donate to a free A:M …

These are not award winning items to showcase, but they are interesting examples of how Animation Master allows you to do some none traditional "character" animation: Bill's Experiments These originated with "The Mother of All Blobbies", my first experiment animating a character whose "limbs" were more like the pseudopods of an ameoba than arms and legs. This was done by manipulating CPs with the various tools of AM. I then created a "pseudopod" test model basically made of a tube with each spline ring along its length assigned a bone. The bones were then constrained to each other in a hierarchy so that I could stretch or squash the "tenticle" simply by manipulating a…

Hello... I'm wondering if there's another tutorial somewhere that would be a good replacement for the giraffe tutorial in the AOA:M manual? Reason is, I'm getting a head-ache trying to discern, from the side view, where the leg on the "far side" ends and the one I'm supposed to be tracing starts.. it's all sorta just combined together.. Also, the tutorial sorta leaves out what I think is an important detail.. It instructs you to shape the neck from the top - but there's nothing really to shape it from. There is the top "seam" decal, but it doesn't have a head and I don't know how large to scale it to to make sure I'm not adjusting things too big or small.. …

I am working on the quarter animation contest and I thought, (silly me) there was a homer simpson fat man on the CD, but there is not. Also I have asked this to Hash on the use, using the models on the cd, I have yet to find any of the females that are expression ready. Am I looking in the wrong area? Some guidance please on a female with facial expressions and am I crazy about the fat man model?

Hey all, Since I've kind of already tipped my hand by showing an animatic, I thought I would share my progress 8 seconds in. As my schedule ramps up, I may decide to cut and run after the first scene (30 secs) is finished, rather than go for the special effects finale at the end of the big rant. Vegeta here is plenty ticked off throughout the sequence to fit the topic. I've been trying to nail down a lot of the skinning issues, and I'm not sure if the face needs more expression (there will be facial close-ups later to concentrate on, and in the framing, I don't know if details can be spotted). Let me know what you think: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~…

Hi all, Thought I'd share my first public animation with a purpose! This is a short opener for a conference I'm helping with next week. LegoDude walks across the campus and enters the arts building (20 seconds; top frame is towards the end of that), then he enters the auditorium and walks down the aisle (a walk cycle down auditorium steps was fun!), climbs up onto the stage, then waves each arm to open each side of curtains (second image). After the curtains are open and the opening slide is onscreen behind him, LegoDude takes a bow (three different cameras capture this moment) -- last image. Thanks for the help of all those who worked with me on the walk cyc…

There's some unbelievable work happening at the Animation Showdown... not by me though; I'm coming in last every week! My entries for July: Chop (the only entry that didn't do an overhead chop) Pinch (burned up way too much time on the clam) Shiver (in retrospect, combining the knee knocking with the vertical torso motion probably wasn't realistic) You can see them on my Showdown Page.

Hello, I've never used a boolean cutter before, but wanted to see how they could help me with an effect I wanted to try. I followed the instructions in the downloadable version of the 10.5 manual from hash.com, and according to the manual... I did waht I was supposed to do... so can someone help me on this? I may have missed a step. If you want to take a look at the proj file it's only 19KB in size... I've attached it below. Thanks! P.S. I'm also animating the boolean cutter to move along a path to "scan" across the object in the Chor. I see nothing when I render it all out. booleanslicel.prj
