Let me start of by saying cheers to all. The skills of the users are matching nicely with the development of the program. Good job to everyone, I'm thoroughly impressed. I've been out of the loop for 3 years and in that time some awesome stuffs been put out. It's good to be back. It's tough trying to get back clean splinemanship. Wasn't exactly like riding a bike. I was pursuing gainful means of employment. Now finally have time to work on gainful means of enjoyment. He's my first wip since the keecat CD. the floating head is another character still being put together within the same .prj

Comments are welcome First is an 360' of the robot (with an little animation) Johnny6rotatesmall.mov

What do you think so far? Now, I've tried engraving with displacement maps, bump maps and even modeling the text/engraving but never got great results. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or have any suggestions?

Modeling caricatures is not so easy... I have had a try... Here is the result... Who is it? It is not Santa Claus! It is not Gandhi... Have a guess! Now there is only two caricatures on the A:M stills. You can have a search: http://www.hash.com/stills/thumbnails.php?...arch=caricature I believe in more caricatures... something for a newbie to download... and start to play with... why not have a little exchange of caricatures... upploading models! It can be "funny" to let different caricatures have some meeting - Santa Claus, Gandhi and some one else... what will they be talking about? It is up to everyones imagination to decide.

I am studying a BA in Digital Media. So far, so good. I've got through the first two years. Now, when I start my third and final year, one thing we have been warned of in advance is a Specialised Study project. We've got plenty of time to plan and I want to make the most of it. I have decided to make an interactive Macromedia Director based project, based on the well-known game of Cluedo. Influenced by Hasbro Interactive games, you get to solve the mystery by actually searching the rooms for clues, questioning the suspects and viewing flashbacks of previous events. I plan to make it a parody, calling it Crazy Cluedo and making it funny. The suspects have the mo…

Here is a new model I have been working on. If you have any comments or suggestions for improving it I would love to hear them. I haven't started rigging it yet and all of the colors are just grouped patches so his beard looks a little funky at the moment.

Hello folk - I'm trying to put together a simple ball exercise. I've constrained my ball to a path, dropped on an action, rendered and ... ewww. It appears that each time my ball squashes and stretches it is fouling the render. Please see attached. Any idea what may be causing this? I've tried this in a couple of different chor's and same result. I'm using ver 10.5r. Thanks for any help. ..d Lesson1_Dtest.mov

I just posted a trailer for my recently completed short "Skeeters". You'll find it at my site http://fleebagstudios.com. The cool thing is the film itself is showing Labor Day weekend at the North American Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival in Seattle(http://www.cascadiacon.org/Film%20Festival.htm). Show times are Friday, September 1, 11 AM; Saturday, September 2, 4 PM; and Monday, September 5, 10 AM. I will present my film at the Saturday showing. And of course Skeeters was made using A:M! Enjoy.

I am new to animation of any kind and after picking up the aoam user guide I saw that it was packed full of information but only if you could look at it as a guide only and not something that was going to make you a great AM user. So here is my WIP and I generally put new stuff on there every day of the week (yes really). I would be grateful for any comments that you may have. My Webpage

Going back to basics and completed the giraffe. Glad to see that my mechanical modeling on the sub has paid some dividends. The giraffe was fast and easy compared to the Nautilus. Only problem, though, is that the giraffe decal is distorting in every 5 point patch. What is the remedy? The tut includes the 5 point patches also, but gives no advice on the distortions.

Hi all: This is a quick test of the Nautilus on the surface with a klieg as the sun and a fill light in front of the sub for a little ambiance. The problem lies with the sub's shadows reflected on the surface of the water - they are casting in the wrong direction. The light source is in the back to the left, ergo the shadows should be pointing to the front right, yet they seem to be pointing straight at the viewer. No diff with the fill off. Any ideas?

Hi folks, here is a quick render of the cow model available for download... hosted by Ken Heslip. The post is in the main AM forum. The cow is constrained and ready to go with a walk cycle and a set up in a choreography. I used the set up machine 1 to rig it and added intermediates and fans and smartskin etc. Im not the best rigger around but if any of you Rig masters has the time to improve on it or re-rig it, I would love to see the results if you re-post the improved and updated model for folks to download again. Cheers AndyG

Hey guys, even though I'm posting this in the WIP section, this is a finished deal, as I've taken this as far as I want to take it practice wise. From the comments - worked on the run cycle and redid the grab for one hand instead of 2... There are a few issue still, much coming from the fact that the run cycle on the path ended with the wrong foot for the jump to the pole... Anyhows, this was good practice for me. I rendered one with no blur and one with A-buffer blur. http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleQA.mov http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleBlurA.mov Later Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

First of all I must admit that this render is inspired by Fabrice and his keychain. But I hope that you don't consider this as an rip off (even though I used an wooden floor texture). I have been trying to understand radiosity, and its hard but interesting. MUCH to learn yet I went to an store and bought an 5$ toy car and scanned the box, then I created the box in A:M and used the scanned image as an decal. Then I rigged the box to make it foldable. Hope you like it btw: render size: 1280x1024 render time: *coughing*36hr*coughing* Regards Stian Ervik Wahlvåg Image has been updated to final version

Heres the beginnings of a Demon model I'm working on for a client. the Head will be radically different. It will be more based on a chaos beastman from Warhammer, but the body is just about there. I'd like critiques to help me make it better. The info I got on the superhero thread was invaluable and I'm hoping for more of the same here. Here is a link to a 360... http://www.colins-loft.net/free/examples/Demon/DemonBody.htm and here is a link to a pic with very very rough hair on the legs.. did I mention it was rough? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. C

Hey guys, I spent sometime this afternoon putting this clip together - all just personal animation excercises... Anyhows this was the first raw pass, just a bit more than blocking stuff out. Went to make some changes and somehow deleted the models foot nulls. So, I'm gonna start from scratch again, but here's what it looked like.... http://www.vrcops.com/vids/PoleGrabB.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey gang, Thought I'd post this quick little job I did for the San Diego Future's Foundation upcoming fundraiser. The theme for the evening will be casino themed/Monte Carlo style. The money donated/raised goes to support the Futures Foundation, which takes old computers from corporations, refreshes them, installs new drives, OS, etc. then gives them to schools and families who can't afford computers. This image will be on their invitations. Greg

This is an improved, higher resolution version of my 2nd place winning entry for the July 2004 Sci-Fi/Fantasy image contest. The original version can be seen here on A:M Stills. I've tried rendering this scene in both A:M version 11.1i and 12.0e. The rendering done in 12.0e, shown in this post, has much better quality image maps, but it took me over three hours to render it in 12.0e as opposed to 22 minutes in 11.1i. Can anything be done about that?

dear\all many of my friends adviced me to start a new thread for this topic and not leaving it inside my porsche thread..so here i go... i decided to start a project called (HASH CITY)..hash city is a 3d vertual city where everyone on our commnuity is able to have his own building or shop or car agency...the idea came to me while i was modeling a small street to be as an environment for my porsche car...later on...i had a chance to play GTA vice city...and was amazed about the huge city of this game...so i was thinking...what if we can model a city like this...not big but fair enough...and has all kinds of building types...streets...just as any real city...th…

Hey everyone. A lot of you have been watching this in the WIP section, but now it's done!!! GAIL is a Spume-bot (sex android) that gains conciousness and uses her "talents" as a spy in the "Jed Lightsear" series that is part of the EVENT HORIZON comic book from MAMTOR press. EVENT HORIZON is a new Heavy Metal type comic that features all sorts of great comic tales. Here is my rendition of GAIL for a pin-up for issue #2 of the series. The model is based on the Lambrina model from the A:M CD (heavily modified) and uses photoreal textures for her skin. It was created in v11.1 on my Powerbook and my crappy PIII PC laptop and RADIOSITY rendered in 50 hours at…

Just a mirror of the Water splashing thread on the main A:M forum, to allow me to post a QuickTime. This is a really fast and crude demo, but the blue patches are just small 2x2 grids and the cyan objects are spheres with the tops & bottoms truncated (have to do that, otherwise SimCloth tells you it's unsolvable.) Obviously, the model & SimCloth parameters would have to be tweaked to allow the "drops" to deform more naturally, but it looks like the idea of using SimCloth to simulate water might just be doable after all. Well, I must apologize in advance for the trees in the foreground but the ones in the back are looking good thanks to HASH. If someone knows how to make the trees in the foreground look better please let me know. I built a tree in A:M, rendered it to a 320x240 TGA file with alpha channel, cropped it in GIMP, and then added the image to hair and slapped it on the mountain. HASH has more work to do though because fog on hair doesn't work in multipass, and I need multipass to get descent render times for animations. Plus, I think there is some other weird render problems in V12 but I am still amazed at what can be done.
