-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.

-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)

If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

Long ago I used to think that decalling was a simple process but then this started happening. I can stamp this image a dozen times and sometimes it ignores different patches randomly.Anyone else ever run across this or is AM picking on me again? Have tried making the patches larger-no effect. Tried applying decal in an Action with all the CPs flattened completely-no effect. Tried a TGA-no effect. Higher rez image-no effect. I've run out of ideas to try. Any help appreciated. LandTest.prj

A long time ago, I used A:M for titling and some minor add-ons to video projects. I have a multi-media idea and think I can use the cricut for making a mold. I am talking 5-10mm in size. With the text to object feature, I can do personalized things. It is a challenge. I want cricut instead of a 3d printer because I can use a soluble mold. I do gemstone composites and have an idea. Sorry, no like to an example as FB url or non-https are not allowed.

Hi, I'm using the 2008 version on animation master on xp. When I place hair, a lot of times the program places the hair on the wrong face of the object, so it's pointing the wrong direction. Is there a way to change the face? Thank you

Hello! Thanks to Jason Simonds, I got the free trial version to open and work, but not until after my Power Supply Unit croaked, which I had to replace today. Anyway, I'm going through the tutorials, and they show an option to save the animation in AVI format. The free version I have (v 19.0) does not show that, only .tga format. Is this something that only comes with a paid version? I'm happy to report that my wimpy Dell Optiplex 990 SFF running Windows 10 with a 240 power supply, intel factory integrated graphics card, icore 5 and 16GB RAM.. seems to be able to render a short animation just fine, so far. That's why I wanted to try the free version first…

Trying to get a Leafy type material using the hair function but can't shape like it shows in the tech manual (Sutton's Dodo bird) using the thickness timeline. Keep getting this octoganal shape instead of a smooth curve (see image). Render is set to multi pass final quality. Any help appreciated.

I might be a bit absent minded, but I forgot how to obtain fonts scripture into Animation Master. I know there is a restriction for only Ariel fonts, but for now I can't find a way to reach a way to access fonts when I'm in AM. For the good of all I would reconstruct scripture fonts myself, but I know there was a way. At least I did in the past. Thank you.

I am still on exercise 7 and having some more trouble. I have tried to find the index file on the disk. I am using a mac 867/ 1gb memory and tiger 4.3 When I right click and go to the dope sheet. I then add "I've got a secret ect. I click on ok and get the message: Dictionary modified or Index file missing. Recreating Index File. From there it just goes in a circle with: Trouble opening the dictionary index file! I need to know where the index file is on the disk for the mac. I can't find it. (in the tutorial it says that you take the file from the disk and drop it into animation master folder) Thanks

OK, AM crashed, and the file got corrupted. Luckaly, I had an export of my model. So I imported him. He was perfect when I imported him, but when I did a Render of him, all I got was a colored wire frame! (all of it was white, but the wireframe only was colored.) How do I restore my model to his former glory?

I followed the online tutorial for it's a pitch. I tried it with the skeleton as well as the knight and I have the same response (twice with both character's). When I set the frame 18 pose and use the slider to see the animation, both feet end up in the air between frame one and thirteen. It looks like the charter is hurdling. Its appears that it didn't regester the foot placement in frame ten. I can go back an replace the foot but I have to do it on a number of frames establish foot contaqct on the ground. I am using v12q. I don't have the inverted knee problem others have discussed. I did set the balance and balance riged to 0 per the tutorial. Any ideas??

Hi! I'm currently learning about Decals. I noticed that when used as a decal, any particular image can only have one property (i.e. Color, Bump, Displacement, etc.) Let's say that I have a color image and I made the same version of it in grayscale, to render the exact decal as a bump, as well. Are there any tips on how I can position the color and bump images exactly on top of each other? It does not appear that a decal can be moved once it is applied, so I'd need to know how to apply two with certainty that they would overlay each other as if they were one image. Thanks, Tim

Just wondering for people who have done a lot of decaling, what resolution do you save your decals at? I've been using AI to create decals, save them as 32 bit Targa files, and I choose 300 dpi for resolution instead of 72 dpi for screen resolution. My thinking was to use the highest resolution I could so that if I'm getting close up on a model the decaling will still hold up and look good. Is this correct? Or am I just adding unnecessary file size to the decals? My final destination for most projects is to end up as an AVI file going to DVD.

I tried to uninstall A:M since it had some install errors, but when I use the Uninstall Animation: Master thing it gets partway through before it says "Uninstallation could not occur due to an error.". Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone help me uninstall it? I'm running it on a Mac on Tiger, if that makes a difference. Also, the uninstaller says Uninstall AM 11.1, whereas I have 12.0 installed. Is there another uninstaller I need to download or something? I couldn't find a 12.0 uninstaller anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I've been using Master for a while, but there's one thing that I still find tedious, and that's texturing my models, which probably means that I'm somehow doing it the wrong way. Here's an example -- I'm creating a piece of lumber, a 2x6 board 8 feet long. I want to texture all six sides of it with a wood texture. For simplicity's sake, I want to apply the same wood texture to each side. There are several ways that I know to do this. One is to select the whole model, and then drag&drop a texture onto it. This "stretches" the texture to fit the model. The 8 ft long side of the 2x6 gets a long skinny version that's all stretched out, and the narr…

Okay... I downloaded V 12.0 T of A:M and the Help installer for same. I have attempted several times to use the help installer.... and it connects to the Hash site, I think, and begins to DL the files... A couple of times it "failed to connect to server" or some similar error msg. So, I downloaded the Zip of the Help file HTML. I unzipped this to the help folder in the Hash directory (that was probably the wrong thing to do). Then later, I tried again to use the help installer... It seemed as though it was working... said it had about 174 minutes left.... (and I'm on DSL, shouldn't that be faster?). Then all of a sudden (about 3 minutes later)…

Ok, so I've just modeled half of my head, but when I select it as a group and select copy/flip/attach, it flips it along the wrong axis everytime so that it connects the left half of my head nose to nose! Hello, I'm trying to do an orthographic projection in choreography mode, but I can't figure out how to configure the camera. I don't see any options on the camera settings to do this. Can it be done? What I trying to do is to create some flat textures to apply to my models. For example, I created a riveted wall model, then I'm going to shoot it in choreography mode to generate a rivet-wall texture that I can apply to my other models. So far, using the default camera options I'm getting some stretching of my model toward the outer edges, and I'm hoping an ortho projection would correct this. Thanks!

Hello, I'm practicing rigging and posing in A:M 12.0 on a Powermac G4. I need help in understanding how to maintain the relationship between bones while I'm building a pose. Hi everyone, I organized my coreography and put in a Character, a camera and a path. What I wanted to do was to make the camera follow the path while pointing to the character. So, I gave the camera a Constrain "Aim at" in compesate mode to the character. First step done. Then, I applied a second constrain to the camera in order to follow the path (a 3 point curve around the character). When I did that, the camera begun following the path but aiming the path too. I clicked off the Store roll option in order not to aim the path and the camera started aiming to the front... but not to the character. I have a model that's getting too complex, so I'm hiding huge chunks of it while I work. this means that sometimes there are CPs visible but the spline running through them is not. When drawing a new spline, is there any way I can force a new CP to attach to one of these CPs? As an example of the problem: lathe a four-point circle and extrude it twice to make a cylinder. Select the middle spline circle and hide the rest. Break the spline twice and delete the two remaining splines. Try to attach a CP from a new spline.

I've looked all over the forum and can't find anything that addresses this problem - Rabbit's legs wont Paste Mirrored. After frame 15, his ears, arms, feet and toes all swing along nicely (the feet sort of look like they're flailing about) but the legs stay in the same position they were in at frame 15. Then I rotated the pelvis which moved the legs around a bit. I even rotated the knees with the arrow keys. I rebuilt the exercise from frame 1 along with the video tutorial, step by step. Well, I looked and looked and I can't find it to click it. I don't see it in the Workspace, or the properties window, and I have all of the trees opened. All I see is the properties (Bone position, transform, etc) Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong? Oops, I forgot to say which 'it' it was I can't find.
