I'm getting closer and closer to getting this thing done! Once Lillith here is finished then I've got one more robot to do. Then I finish my script, make the two space ships and any other sets I need. After that I start animating the show. Check my latest progress report on robotoon.tv

I wanted to experiment with using motion capture to create a looping walk cycle. I used Animazoo's "Hooker Walk", chose a good stride loop, removed the unwanted movement, turned on 'stride length', and SHAZAAM. pimpstrut2_20.mov I know mr. Bigboote made one of his girls walk with this same mo-cap, but I can't find it right now.

The spitball rock on which the Sentinel spends his time [his life?] is pretty much devoid of life, but there are large, torpid, harmless beetles in the snow areas. They appear as rocks poking out of the snow until Beast wanders too close and they slowly start to shuffle away. Occasionally, one cannot move out of range fast enough and will rear up and make ritual threatening gestures, then sink back out of sight. BEETLE_TEST.zip

Hi! Ive been doin a quick browse of my hard drive and came up with a few previously unorganized projects. So.. I picked up this project first and I plan to finish it. I started the old thread here: Here I just did some atmospheric adjustments and lighting adjustments as well. I updated the grass with a better alpha map (soon do be better too). I also changed the skymap and a few odds n ends. The render time is killer though, the screen shot below is after 10 hours of render time (was set a 1500x800 4pass, the first pass took 2 hours and it froze on the second pass) Its not the full render but a screenshot of the frozen screen and cropped. More soon…

OK- I'm posting 1 more...then I'll leave you alone for a while until I have something more linear. This is ANOTHER test, and as an afterthought I tagged some sound onto it and it 'sort of' fit. If you can get your QuickTime to loop...loop it and this conversation goes over and over like the ones me and the wife have. I rendered this 10 sec sequence with and without porcelin and was able to frame for frame compare it at D1 resolution. The porceline STAYS. A colleague of mine once said..."sound is half the picture." That was the same guy that said "She's got freckles on her but she's pretty. Hope you enjoy. BigEd.mov

Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the mod…

By the way I 've been rendering to tgas then converting to qt in the Beta1 with no problems and tried some other stuff..hair... volumetric lights ..seems pretty stable Oh if there is any requestd I'll post the project betadress2.mov

Hey guys, Been a while since I've had any A:M'ing time. I got inspired by one of the Bradburies (I think it was Matt) who had done the planets. There are some *huge* textures out there (also, Blue Marble Next Gen is awesome cuz it has a picture for every month on the year so you can see the snow advance and retreat) that can be put to good use. I still need a cloud map, and I'd like to have some kind of auroral "roadway" from the Eastern Washington, California and New Mexico areas to finish it off. But here it is in progress. It is actually the opening screen (no text) for my thesis proposal presentation. I'll be dry-running in about two weeks, and hope…

I wonder if it would be a good way to use a spriteemiter doing leafs for a tree and then just "freezing" it, so that you get a tree with many leafs usable for more distant trees. Does anybody ever used this or has any ecxpierience with that? Just asking, if it makes sense to investigate into that direction....

The tooncart latly brought me to try to rigg a simple car myself. Following the lines of the bone-tut of Rodger Reynolds , I managed to set up the steering. But when I made a second action for the wheels rolling, in the action only one wheel is rolling, and even that seems to be stopping brievly at the starting-point.. in the chor even none. What have I done wrong? I constrained the other wheels with a roll like constraint. The car is constrained to a path. How can I slow it down a bit to watch its movement better? I enclose the project for anybody interested to help to have a look. Thank you ;>) Jake Something like a rigging -machine for …

Since I have been off (from work... ) this week I been pushing some ideas I've been thinking about on my commute to & from work so here is another one. I used an expression to move a series of bones on a plane to make waves. The actual expression was applied to each bone with a simple copy and paste and a tweak. It needs adjustment since it is a bit fast but I wanted to try a render. So I grabbed a boat off the cd, a darktree material, for the water, added a null following a spline on the grid, to contrain the boat's position and rendered. Its only a single multipass to speed things up ( slow computer) and a litttle jaggy but here it is wavetest.mov …

I'm trying to put together a portfolio and I want to thank you guys for all your help and crits. I think I'm almost there. This is really an extended topic from the KeeKat's Secret and Lypsyching the cowboy where I asked the question on lipsyching methods. This is using the "manual" method; which at this point I KNOW gets the best results. Raven.mov This is the "long" one I was referring to to. Didn't take as long as i thought it would. On this one though, I don't think its as good as the Cowboy. I believe it comes from the poses which was mentioned in one of the other topics(go figure). The cowboy's poses were done by a master, and Raven's done …

I don't know why, maybe it's really late, but this little bit cracks me up. This guy gets run off the road by Ravel in his ambulance and is pissed, so he goes to town honking his horn while Ravel drives off oblivious to what's happened. Something about the squeezing to honk the horn is too funny to me. I'm thinking he needs to honk it about 5 more times. The car isn't animated yet, it'll be rocking and stuff. Everyone has seen Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi right? Well you know the Imperial Biker Scout- the Imperial dudes that ride the speeder bikes. I have modeled everything except the helmet- I've tried to model it for the past 2 to 3 weeks and it never looks right. Could anyone model one up for me for Animation Master 11.1 (A:M 2005) please? This would be a great help. The animation I am doing will require the Biker Scout, so if anyone would offer any help I would greatly appreciate it!

Having finished me third BB storyboard, I decided to do some animation. I started by giving BB some eyebrows, reducing the sharpness on her cheeks and giving her a proper join on her neckline. What do you Hashers think? I have also notice an anomally under her right eye. There is a 5-point patch there and it normal is pointing in the right direction (as on the other side), but whereas it renders fine in model mode it doesn't when I drop it in a choreography with lights. I get that shadow artifact… I am using AM 11.1e on the PC.

This is a screenshot from an animated film I'm doing that will end up being around 9 minutes. It will be 3D with some 2D painted backgrounds, compositing, etc. This screenshot was largely from a 20 second test of my character, constraints, etc. etc. She comes up with the music box lid, and then dances around in a little repeated ballet move. The key turns, and her feet come off the pivot sometimes but that's intentional, because she's a character, not a doll. I'm quite happy with it so far, still tweaking (in between writing grant applications). Thanks to Vash, Colin, Josh, Vern and a bunch of other people I don't know. Sean

Hi! I have a question. I want to use several actions in one choreo on one model. I have got two pathes. One for the character to walk into the scene, and one to walk out. I although have got a walkcycle with stridelength... Inbetween there are other actions to keep the real animation in. The walk in and the animation itself worked nicely. Now I want to let the character walk out of the scene... I gave the character a constraint to the path and now I want to make the walkcycle action active. But the action isnt available... It is there, I can click on the part where it should be and see the selection-frame, but I cant see the red bar which indicates …
