Now that my room scene is basically done, I have begun the animation phase of the opening for my last annual Year in Review video for my church. I'll post new animations from time to time, but for now, here's a cool frame from the animation.

Ta da! If you're wondering why I made him flat and didn't just make him 3D and toon render him, it's because I'm trying to capture the style from How the Sith Stole Christmas. Here he is. Now just gotta make a side version, a back version, caped versions, shadow versions, and a 3D version for hard shots. Phew. LOL. I need some C and C. And by the way, Merry Christmas everyone!

It took a while to figure this out, but I finally modelled a reasonably smooth, human looking head. The technique is fairly simple, but still takes a lot of tweaking. With practice it will go a lot faster. Comments?

Hi all, Here's a face closeup with my model using v11 hair. Some of the hair is looking nice but I need to address some geometry penetration (through the forhead and through the hood). Can this be avoided automatically with Hair settings or do I have to handle it manually? Cheers

This is one of the first thing I ever built in A:M a few years ago. I decided to revisit it after everyone was making rooms to use for Radiosity in the Radiosity Forum. Rendered with 6 Bulbs and 1 Klieg for the outside light. 25 Passes at 800 X 600 took about 3 hours and 13 minutes to render. I threw in the torso of my centaur that I made and gave him glowing red eyes. Although I am putting it in this forum, there may come a time that I decide to redo it again. Any comments are appreciated.

Tada! My first model...ever...(except for that nice little blue balloon that is now my best friend ) Anyways, I'm working on this guy, and then maybe a few other bugs. Any sort of help/critique is welcome. I'll probably attatch some legs, if you wondered. Excuse the quicktime thingy, having some problems and couldn't save as picture, only movie. runbug.mov

I was thinking about how I'm starting to get into building structures and said "well, Willy Wonka's factory has many interesting shapes and structures.." Not only that, but it'd be really fun to make the candy machines and even just the building itself! I started by planning to sketch out some concepts of what's going to be in the building. I've scanned my first one and posted. I'm excited just thinking about this..

Hey everyone! I thought I would let you all see my first model Im attempting in AM v.11. Its a screwdriver, a realistic one I might add . At least that is what Im trying to accomplish. I've been modelling what you see in the two images below for about 20-30 minutes, I did that in just that amount of time. Although, its not completed yet I think its pretty good so far seeing as it is my first model that I am doing in AM. Please tell me what you think so far . Click on the 2 links for shaded view and shaded/wireframe view of the screwdriver: Thanks Everyone Paul

Hi, guys. It's been a while. 8 month project and not yet over. I've worked with Dr. Eric Drexler to design and animate a nanotechnology device of the future. We are not just making science fiction pictures. This is as real a design as we can make it even though it will be ten years or more before we can build it. Dr. Drexler has three published books in nano and is considered by many to be the father of this industry. He co-founded the Foresight Institute, www.foresight.org The device of this animation is a desktop factory which can take in acetylene, tear it apart and create product from the atoms. I have always been interested in nanotechnology since I read …

Hi, everyone. I'd really like critiques on this new model for my next short. I'm looking for a somewhat cartoony and simple look suitable for some loose, squashy-stretchy animation. Comments about improving appeal or style would be especially appreciated. I'll probably do some texturing and surface tweaking, but not a whole lot. Yeah, I know... wireframe. Comin' up next. Thanks!

Here's something I made really quick after seeing one of the animations on the Maxwell website. The topic is in the OT section, you should check it out. Anyways, it made me want to try to mimic liquid with a:m, this is the best I could do but I'm still playing around with it, I'll post some other things later if I get something cool . All it is is a model of a wineglass with a seperate model for the wine with a seperate bone. The wine tilts with the glass because of the bone, but the surface of the liquid is cloth with gravity turned off and a force to give the surface ripples. Its nothing special but it looks cool, although I wish you could see the ripples better…

Ok, I'm doing a scene where the kat walks up to the beach and see's that his make shift house has been washed away. You'll notice that I haven't done any work on his facial expressions but I'm wanting advice on the movement. Is the motion big enough? Also, do you think everything is timed right for realism and comic relief? Thanks for any C&C. Here's the link http://www.camzilla.net/animation/practice.avi

Here is a new version of the animation I did for the Anzovin Studios' "Setup Machine 2" contest in November. It's basically a commercial showcasing The Setup Machine's rigging capabilities. Toward the end I added a front flip (with a full tuck) for a little extra pizzaz. It goes by fast to stay in sync with the timing of the jumps, so you may need to step through frame-by-frame to appreciate it fully. Lo Res (Quicktime, Sorenson 3, 320x240, 1.1Mb) http://www.scc.net/~mbs/AnzovinContest2_LowRes.qt Enjoy!

Hi folks, Andy Gibbons here (using my nephews PC to post these images) Here are a few models for you to have a look at which will be on sale in early 2005. I am starting a web site offering AM character models for sale. The characters are fully set up with various poses and phonemes for lip synch. I will be making versions available which are pre rigged and ready to run through the set up machine. These will have intermediate bones and smartskin set up and ready to use. There will also be versions of the models in the Hash skeletal rig for those thet prefer to animate with it. Just a quick look for you to see what you all think.

Hi all, This is the first real model I have done without a tutorial. It is based on a simple pencil drawing I did. Everything you see was done with A:M's shaders and bump maps. I like the way the model is going, but it doesn't feel quite real, and I am not quite sure where to go with it at this point. I welcome any suggestions, comments critiques or advice. Oh, just to get you started, I know the trigger is terrible. I'm already planning to work on that. Thank you, Mal

Hey gang, Been a long time since I haunted this community. I've been playing with splines and decided to get some feedback. I like this character and thought it might be fun to model. I still have to texture him, everything you see here is patch colored geometry and toon shading. Dave

So, this is my first run at entering the 10 second club animation contest (www.10secondclub.net) and I've already got some feed back from a couple people on weight shifts at the end, but please watch it and give me some replies on what I can improve. Thanks a million!

A friend asked me to do a graphic for his Barbershop Quartet called "Four Aces" and this is what I came up with on the first attempt. Comments and Suggestions are welcome. The idea is the suits came from the cards that lay and stand in the background (that's the reason why the cards are missing their center suit graphic). http://www.wideopenwest.com/~johnjzsigo/Fo...1804%20crop.bmp --John Zsigo

Hey hallowed hashers! I've been laying low, but have had a chance to get 45 seconds of full finished animation of my 4 'Rollin Stone characters...here's how it's lookin'... I will let it render over the holiday and hope to post something on A:M Films by the NewYear... I am rendering at double D1 res (1440X972) so the hair won't 'jitter' on video and it is taking about 17 minutes per frame so it will be awhile...I have 4 processors on 2 machines working on it. A 4X4 multipass D1 render was over 32 min. Does anyone in the A:M community offer renderfarm services?

hey everyone, I'm currently working on an animation for this month's 10 second club contest. For those of you that have never heard of it, you can go to www.10secondclub.net to check it out. The link below takes you to a page that has a single link on it, the link opens the animation. Sorry if you experience errors, it's through yahoo and I've been having some problems with the server. Anyway, hope it works and hope y'all can give me some good feedback. Here's the link: www.geocities.com/nat_iwata/

Greetings, Looking for some feedback wrt things like hooks nd 5-pt patches. Some people don't seem to use 'em.. Me, I can't seem to spline my way around corners, so to speak. Please have a look and give me an idea if there are too many hooks or 5-pointers; I am going for reduced splineage. Feedback..? Thanks! http://www.nads-sc.uiowa.edu/~sallen/am/mdlHlp2/head2b.jpg

Hi everyone, this is a model of my friend Jane that I’ve been working on for about a month. (on and off, most of the time smoothing) Any comments? I’m having trouble with the cheeks and some 5-point patches around the eyes. Any feedback that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and happy holidays to all! :-)

Is there any way of posting an Image Contest Entry before the judging ends to get feedback on improving it? I am assuming that a general post will disqualify the image since it would link artist and image. Even a partial post of the image would probably do the same. I'm not happy with my characters eyes and need advice/guidance on improving them. Cheers

Hi all, Here's a WIP of a hair style on Lady Goodbody using the v.11 hair system. I call this one "the Miss America look". The renders are pretty speedy if you use lights with z-buffered shadows. And the hair looks better with those lights, too. Thanks Hash guys, especially Randy and Ken for bringing the Mac version along so far, and for the great hair system. Jim
