I don't know why, maybe it's really late, but this little bit cracks me up. This guy gets run off the road by Ravel in his ambulance and is pissed, so he goes to town honking his horn while Ravel drives off oblivious to what's happened. Something about the squeezing to honk the horn is too funny to me. I'm thinking he needs to honk it about 5 more times. The car isn't animated yet, it'll be rocking and stuff. Greetings! Well, I finally stepped away from my mechanical modeling background and took a stab at the Katakata tutorial for making an anime head - this one is Takahashi's onnaRanma from Ranma 1/2. I'm posting it here for feedback - this is the first attempt at a non-mechanical mesh I've done in A:M, so feedback and useful pointers are more than welcome. My initial thought is that I'm probably a little spline-heavy (typical Shurtleff-style overkill in action yet again). I had a bit of a problem with creasing to start, but I think I've managed to get rid of most of it. One major compromise I've made in trying to implement Takahashi's style is with the eyes. …

(see this post for details) There should be a way to attach pix in the Animation:Master forum. I feel really akward doing this all the time, but I don't ever seem to get any help unless I post my problems in the A:M forum.

Well, it's that time of year again. The Druids are gathered at Stonehenge to watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the standing stones on the longest day of the year. Romantic, fanciful minds turn to thoughts of Shakespear and fairies. Time to dig out an old file but,,, AGGGHHH! Suddenly my old AVIs won't play! Has anyone found that renders they have done in the past refuse to run on newer versions of MS Media Player? This is the only one that I could get to run. One of my very first A:M tests from a few years ago. Happy Midsummers Day!

Hey guys another guick banging animation excercise for myself. This one is a real mess lighting wise. It's really just about learning about the wonderful Chor. action feature. I swear I don't know why I didn't learn about them earlier.... would have made my life a bit easier! Anyhows, the scene for the most part has been deleted and I plan on redoing everything.... So, about it.... It's more of a Limp walk cycle, as our hero has just injured his leg jumping onto the roof of said building:)(in my head, not int he clip) Just thinking of possibilities with this. 7.8megs:( http://www.vrcops.com/vids/ForFun.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

I am enjoying my new found skill with the toon render... it is finally starting to make sense to me. I have two questions... 1) Per the attached image... is it possible to create "edge" highlights... closer to my reference drawing? I know... it isn't "realistic" lighting... would there be a way to fake this with the toon gradient somehow? Or a group with different settings? Would like as simple a solution as possible... may have to animate this stuff later. Hard to see in the illustration but those highlights on the edges "taper" off at the ends. 2) I noticed that if I do small test renders... my bump maps seem to be offset... I have two images in…

I have kept up-to-date with my blog and modeling 30 household objects (6 so far) but now I have added animations as well with the aim of 30 animations. After 3 animations I am really pleased with the progress, of course it is not wonderful or awe inspiring but I am moving in the right direction and moreover my 3rd animation gave me a sense of achievement as I was able to do everything I wanted in A:M because I had spent the time gaining the knowledge on how to do it. anyhow if you follow the link at the bottom and select the animation page you can see the progress. As usual the blog etc. is up-to-date.

well September is nearly over and here is my blog for the month (choose month and select september) http://www.barkerfamily.plus.com/ Its been a pretty tough month as I decided to go and learn Flash as I thought the Flash/A:M combination was something worth exploring. Only today (this morning) have I put together my first movie with these two apps. Its nothing to write home about but as I say the potential is huge. http://www.barkerfamily.plus.com/flash/handshake/index.htm enjoy the blog and the update - feedback as always is very welcome

Alright, experimenting with animation some more here. Tell me what you think about timing and movment and such. Enjoy! [attachmentid=9680] Also, if anyone wants to host files for me, I wouldn't mind. I am looking for a good webhost, but I don't want to get screwed out of about $70.00 a year or more so it's a W.I.P. as well. R_ur_f1small.mov

This is my first attempt at a humanoid model. It's intended for a training video. My rationale for creating a crystalline skater was to make the lines and outline as clearly visible as possible (I also thought it would be easier. I don't think it was. I'll have to model a realistic character to know for sure.) He'll eventually have hands, eye balls, and ears (I hope.) I'm posting him as is because I have several specific concerns, but I would appreciate any and all comments and suggestions. 1) I wanted him to be interesting and well defined, but not too distracting or grotesque. What's your initial impression; is he just too weird? 2) I've inclu…

Okay I made a project wit two chors the first generates Thom doing two jump cycles as a tga sequence (used alpha buffer) Then for the second chor I import the sequence of tgas and use them as the sprite. I applied to model put in in chor and (not sure if necessary) choose frame at the end of each cycle to match what frame in sequence should be there ( action 1:01 so at 1:01 i chose sprite frame 1:01 at 2:02 chose 2:02)-again might not be necessary. Anyway then rendered the qt here [attachmentid=11396] project file with both chors instead of the sprite sequence [attachmentid=11397] I know its a bit rough but it hopefully will steer y…

Last night I got an idea of making an silly seagull, don't know why though I did not have any clear vision of how he would end up like, so I just started to spline. He is far from finish, but I think I have an good start. The wings needs a lot of tweaking, and I have no clue in how to model the tail to obtain the "style" he got so far. Anyway, after a few hours of splining I ended up with this: note that he is made just for fun. Comments or crits are highly appreciated Regards Stian [attachmentid=11774]

I have been messing around animating different stuff, trying to get a handle on timing so that I may complete ABC. I have problems with thinking something is to fast or to slow, and never really know which one it is untill I render it and it comes out like this. [attachmentid=12328] I have tried to animate frame by frame, and it still looks way to fast. hash.mov
