Yves Poissant's Primitives page has this to say about the Squared Wy: "Note that this primitive is not completed. There is a 6 point patch in the center and I did not find an elegant and satisfactory way to close it. If anybody finds an elegant solution, I would be glad to hear about it." Here's my offering as to a possible solution. Anyone else have a good one? I think the underlying problem with this shape is that there is not elegant way to do it in the real world. Take a lump of clay and try it, you'll see what I mean. My method is far from elegant, but it works. Then again, does anyone even use any of the primitives besides the cube? -Zev Squared_Wy.mdl

The music playing - suddenly it stops. The world is not the same. Who stopped the music? Who played the music? In a silent world we have to begin to think and feel trusting ourselves and each other. Sharing some warmth in a cold world. Why are all those questions about 911 unanswered still? http://whatreallyhappened.com/9-11BasicQuestions http://www.911truth.org/index.php And why not take one hour of your life to listen to David Ray Griffin's "historic April 18th speech to the "Muslim, Jewish & Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth" at the University of Wisconsin in Madison is now available online. Broadcast by CSPAN and entitled "9/11 and the Am…

I like to balance a little good news with a little bad news... THE BAD: Here is an example of the 'render anomoly' where my shadows 'pop' and I am wondering if anyone gets this upon rendering animations. THE GOOD: BEER! I recently modeled and animated a nice glass of beer! TO SEE the GOOD and BAD: Roll over my avatar and you will see a button to play the avatar full quicktime. THE BEER: The cool stuff with the beer (still dinking with it) is the bubbles and the auto gravity pose and the empty pose. For the bubbles, I made two :15 animations in AdobeAfterEffects of rising bubbles with an alpha. I then applied those cookie-cut style to geometry cut an…

HERE is my illustration (FINALLY) of the main idea of how Meta objects could work for the creation of water effects. The rest of the Idea can be found in this stream: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14212&st=60 Complicated or not the work would be well worth it. Just like the work put into making cloth was worth it. The out come would send our projects over the roof!!

Hi ..The Osprey is a highly manouevrable short range exploration craft. We're evaluating some screen videocapture software, so I thought I'd do a video tut on creating a spaceship. Named after my daughter's soccer team this is the Osprey after about two hours work.

I finally have an animation that is good enough to allow out of my computer for other people to critique. This is a WIP of an animation of the Knight trying to answer a phone. Please let me know what you think, and where I could improve. Thanks. Link to File (1 Mb Quicktime)

Here's a warehouse I began working on that was going to be used for a background in a 3d game. Turned out they decided to go a different direction so I didn't take it much further. But I rendered it out. I bought Emilio's Sweeper plugin, and I used it here to make the walkway, railings, zig zag beam on ceiling and iron beams. It worked really well, very pleased with that! Funny thing, whenever I tried rendering this with multipass I got horrible renders. Turning it off, it came out much much better. Not sure if this has to do with volumetrics on the lights or what. C&C welcome. Tom

Hi Splinemeisters, Nothing special. Just made a female GenMan. Have an animation of her using a slightly altered action used for GenMan walk. I think I'm going to revise GenMan a little, there are some things I overlooked in that model, that I fixed in MrsGenMan. Should be posting her soon. WmanLg.mov

Here is someone jumping for joy and another lipsynched one commenting the jumping. But how to get the .mov-file to loop? Rendering to a .mov-file using Sorenson compression I can not find any loop settings in A:M ? You can do it in the Quicktime-player, but not that way... I want to set it to loop as default. So how to get a .mov-file to loop? jump01C2.mov

I decided to keep puttering with my Mars picture that i had posted in the showcase. And Figured i can always use more feedback At this point Im not sure what to do about the tube road in the back... Im planning on adding a ship on the launchpad and finishing the crane (under construction on the right side) which will probably make the road look more like background rather than the focus of the image. here's a small render of the pic as it stands straight out of the renderer. Here is one I finished but never textured. Some of you long time users may remember it. It's a czech built german tank circa 1941. If I can get my old v8.5 of A.M. to run again (see post at Animation Master forum) I'll put the paint to it.

Hello All, I have a situation where I have created a walk cycle and want my character to wave and turn his body during and after the cycle. The problem is that as soon as I move any bone which is keyed in the walk action, it wipes out all the previous keyframes from the action for that specific bone. So, for example, the feet are cycling quite nicely along a path and if halfway through I move one of the foot control bones just slightly, then that specific bone no longer cycles normally. (I hope this makes some sense). Can someone help me out here? Thanks, Eugene

I tried to use some textures and lighting for the first time to achieve a certian style. Here is the result for now. Many things are still bothering me though: -The lightbulb in the standlamp next to the comfychair doesnt seem to work correctly. I made the bulb and the cover transparent but the light is not showing enough still. - the texturemap for the wall are tiled and double applied for bump and colormap. I am not sure , if they show correctly and are properly aligned positioned. -the oak material for the wood works quiet nice, scaled down to 1 % except for the backwall of the big bookcase , where they seem to big scaled somehow. I will tr…

Hi guys I created this scene for fun, based on a little experience I had a few years back... *** Ever found urself in the wrong place at the wrong time? not a good feeling.. Sometimes it just best to turn right around and run!! Sang was hungry and went looking for food in a rough area of the ocean..Bumped into daddy!!! and baby worms and realized his stay should be short!!! *** I wanted a dramatic feel so I used a limited colour palette / textures and design... The bobbles were done by hand cuz my system can't handle particles... Done with A:M / The Gimp.... thanks for your feedback!!

I was rather intrigued by the Loons, so I just had to make one....( the original illustration just didn't do it for me..) I did it with Photoshop. I didn't like the idea of the "warts", but I thought there should be some sort of scar from a puncture wound, so I went with patches, like an old tire, but after he was done I thought of crossed tape, so I put one on his belly. It doesn't say whether or not they wear clothes, so I didn't give him any. I figure with no genetalia or (There's just no delicate way to say it) buttcrack, he shouldn't really look naked, but I had to give him a belly button. Where else would you stick the airhose?

I'm having a MAJOR problem, my color won't stick to the grass. I've followed the "Hairy Grass" tutorial step by step, but when I render, the color won't stick to the grass... May I've pushed a button that doesn't makes decals disappear when rendered? Anyways, here's a picture before the rendering.

Here's a WIP of my contribution to the Pass the Ball project. I was gonna try to keep it secret, but what the hell. I know there's a lighting glitch when Shaggy hits the floor, and that his arm penetrates the ground. Other than that, comments and criticisms are quite & very welcome. This is my newest character that will be starring in a short that I'm working on. I was going for a Pixar style of character, and he looks pretty close to me. But tell me what you think. His name's Ted. P.S. I'll post his wires as soon as I get the chance. Until then I'll be hard at work fitting his rig. P.P.S I also noticed after the render was complete that I did not run Gama conversion. The piece is probably light enough to avoid problems, but if there are any problems please say so.

Here's a look at my Pass the Ball entry. It still needs some tweaking to make the ball movement smoother during the "circle pass" it needs to be a bit more circular. Also, when he tosses the ball offscreen, it should be quicker, I think. The final rendering is going to have a volumetric spotlight, too. I might do another one or two if I can come up with the moves and animate it in time. Lazlojuggle1.mov
