One for all those political cynics out there, forced to endure another year of Presidential Politics. www.bdelporte.com/wagthedawg.mov 20mb, rated R for rude and crude, just like American Presidential Politics (it's those 3 day weekends, sorry) constructive comments are appreciated and heckling is mandatory enjoy Bruce Del Porte

Started working on a new slider model that has hair poses. You'll be able to change color, length and slide to different hair styles. It's still in the early stages, but I thought I'd show you to see what you think. I plan on adding a slider for a ponytail too. I used Jane from the cd for my test subject. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm still just a few inches off the ground, at the foot of the A:M learning curve. After some messing around with tutorials, I decided to have a shot at making a figure of my own. I think this Work In Progress is probably just progressing towards the trashcan - it has too many splines in some places and not enough in others, endless 3 and 5-point patches, some dead-end splines and lots of other bad stuff ('cos I don't yet know how to do it better). But I thought that making a figure of my own (complete with errors that will make it difficult or impossible to rig and animate) might be the quickest way to learn WHY models have to be built in a particular way. Bu…

Hi All, Could anyone tell me if they have a good method of modeling a snail shell? I tried to use the extrude plugin, but you can't control the "tightness" of the spiral. Any ideas or examples? Thanks in advance. Eugene

I want a bone/null that moves the whole body somewhere. I noticed that If I create a bone that goes over every control point that is controlled by other bones, those bones are not activating those points anymore (see screenshot below). What is the best way to create a rig that moves the whole body?

Dominique now has clothes. All that's left is to give her some guns! The overcoat does not have very many details yet. It's a question of splines vs bumpmap and graphic. The model is 75% boned, and thanks to the all your help, the overcoat will be boned very soon with Dynamic Constraints. My experiments with the test model were mostly successful. I should have a small clip up by next week. Hopefully she'll be able to shoot the guns in a dramatic fashion. Gaetan

Been working on this for a couple of weeks, trying to make a realistic face model splined on the principles in Jason Osipa's book. Didn't really set out to make a self-portrait, but I knew my face would always be available for comparisons while I worked on it. Right now I'm stuck trying to make a decent ear before I CFA the other half. Once it's done, I'll try painting a skin (color, bump, specularity, etc.) from scratch.

Hey all.. Well, I just got my software about a week ago and I've been going through the tutorials, but decided to do a little animation outside the tutorials. I used Thom to do a little jumping jack action.. first try was ok, but I got some suggestions and polished it a bit... still not perfect, but I am learning. Then, since I'm a Matrix fan (the first movie anyway), I decided to figure out how to do a simple 'bullet time' sequence. Took me almost all day to figure it out, but could do it in about 5 minutes now if I had to.. haha.. guess that's what learning's all about. Anyway, if anyone's interested I'll link to it here... nothing earth sh…

I took a break from building models and decided to start learning about poses and facial animation. Here a link to 4 very small clips. I have no way of assembling them. It is getting easier each every as some things become familiar. Questions: a) If I attach these heads to their respective bodies will they remember the poses? Is it better to import the body into the head file or vice versa? c) If I rig the faces and them import them onto a rigged body, can I combine the rigs by moving the bone files intot hte proper hierachy? thanks, Gaetan Facial Clips Test

Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the mod…

I have modeled a bicycle card and the main reason I did such a simple model is because I want to study the physics of true animation. So, what you'll see below is an animation of a card fluttering down to the ground (hard to see where the ground is, but the card hits the ground at the end). Critiques would be much appreciated... (Note: Due to angelfire privacy, you must right click on the link, hit properties and copy the full address in the box. Then push ok and paste the address in the address bar) Card Flutter test

I've finally finished modeling what I had planned in mind. I modeled in the simplest way, but also effective. I used Freeman's tuturial for the teeth...Below is a pose slider test for my guy...Later you'll be seeing an attempt to lip syncing teeth. I thought about this and looked at myself in the mirror. The teeth barely move at all! And for some reason, when I lip sync with the teeth by moving it up and down naturally, it looks great! (lip sync tests coming later) Pose test Note: Due to Angelfire privacy, you must right click and push "save target as..." or you must right click, hit properties, copy the full web address in the box, and paste the address into…

I was messing about with my rigging a couple of weeks ago and ended up getting sidetracked with this thing. I'm posting this early test for a laugh. Rip it to shreds at will. I know about the fingers not actually looking like they are doing thier job. Looks more like shrimp legs. It has evolved a bit since this and has had a little adventure but needs more work before rendering. I have a few ideas where he would be quite handy

Hey hallowed hashers! I've been laying low, but have had a chance to get 45 seconds of full finished animation of my 4 'Rollin Stone characters...here's how it's lookin'... I will let it render over the holiday and hope to post something on A:M Films by the NewYear... I am rendering at double D1 res (1440X972) so the hair won't 'jitter' on video and it is taking about 17 minutes per frame so it will be awhile...I have 4 processors on 2 machines working on it. A 4X4 multipass D1 render was over 32 min. Does anyone in the A:M community offer renderfarm services?

While I'm waiting to get my Robot fixed I began working on these rotoscopes. They are inspired/copied from an old Golden Age cartoon "The Fox and the Crow." I've always loved crow characters. I found when I was doing my robot that not having a rotoscope was too much freedom and not enough structure, and I got bogged down since I had no direction so I'm hoping this will help. I want a decent rotoscope that will help me plan out the splines, which was another issue I had. Someone said (I think it was the guy who did the Osprey) that you should always work from a rotoscope. Anyway, here it is - any comments are appreciated that you think might improve it, or anythi…

So I have mostly finished building my fleet of racing jets, and would now like to race them through some large canyons or possibly fjords, with maybe a mountain range thrown in for good measure. The jets should move about 250m/s so the canyon will have to be large indeed. I have my old AM 2000 book, and it mentions rebumpx, but I am not sure how compatable it is with v11. Any thoughts on good relatively recent tutorials on how to build mountains and valleys?
