This is model of Mikke Musse . I have posted older version of it once upon a time, but Rodney reminded me that I should repost it, which I have (thanks Rodney) [attachmentid=20913] I was going for the 30's look of the character, so have in mind that they used to draw him with dimes in that time, so Mikke didn't Squashed and Stretched much... It is rigged with older version of the Squetch rig, so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles (No hand gizmo, no face rig), but it squetches well. I have made improvised version of the face rig with controls that I felt were necessary for this simple character, and they can be pretty expressive;) Many than…

I was messing around with radiosity again, and then ended up building the Programmer's Passage from the Matrix. Years ago I had built it once before (lost in the great computer crash of '04 of course), but without radiosity, the scene never looked right. Anyways, here's the render and project file if anyone wants to take a look at it. Matrix_Hallway.zip

Hi I got a request at the 3dfrog store to make this model. I had a lot of fun making it. I am quite happy with it. Attached are some pics and a movie of it in action. The animation isn't so great, it is just something quick to show her in action. Comments and criticisms are welcome. Edit: My host's server might be faster to view the movie: http://www.3dfrog.com/wips/AMsmiley.mov AMsmiley.mov

Here's a render of a couple little guys i've been working on for a pet project. The one in the back still needs toes, textures and rigging. Full size image (1280x600) here. And there are some walk cycle gifs for the bomb guy for his sprite sheet. Over on the development blog.

I've just created a new gallery of astronomical art on A:M Stills with renderings of all EIGHT planets. (I've been working on these for the last few years, before the whole Pluto debate got started. I didn't include Pluto because any textures would be fictional until New Horizons arrives there in nine years' time.) Since I'm not trying to make a scale model of the Solar System, each planet and its system of satellites is a separate choreography modeled at a scale of 1/1 million (1 meter = 1000 kilometers). Here are some samples: I'm putting these renders up now because I've recently figured out some methods for using the Planet Glow shader effectively…

I got tired of getting bogged down in modeling and texturing to get to the animating part, so I made this super simple character and took a whack at it. Here's what I came up with in one run through. It definitely needs refining. Any help with the timing and just communcation aspects especially would be greatly appreciate. hungry fridge wip. -Nathan

This is approximately half of the music video that was made as comment on political process and ability of members of the parliament of my country... http://trajcedrv.mylivepage.com/file/?fileid=493 (You'll probably need to copy link and paste it in your browser to be able to download it) Unfortunately I didn't made it on time for the elections this year, and you'll probably miss the whole message... so what... I hope that you'll like the music (My wife Marina composed it) and if you really, really want to know, I'll post rough English translation. Here are 3 images of a crash case we are working on. It is supposed to be a night scene. We use volumetric lights on the vehicles because it helps indicate the lights are shining. There are also non-volumetric lights to illuminate the road. My question is: How do you eliminate the banding visible at the point of emission? From the head on view (bottom picture) it looks great. (head-on, bad pun ) We are using Volumetrics with Z buffered shadows for render considerations. There was another thread where someone recommended using geometry with transparency and roughness to simulate this type of thing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanc…

Have ANY COMMENTS or criteria on this model, or its related use (ReadMe) feel FREE TO EXPRESS IT. This model is available for use in any "Commercial" environment, ONLY for NON-PROFIT use though. Hey guys, Dropped an old sneak cycle that I made a long time ago on the model and rendered.... just for fun. There are some wierd things happening on the background, looks like a shadow, even though I have recieve no shadows checked... Maybe because this scene was made a long time ago in v11 and reopened in v13? 1meg http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Sneak1a.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Thought I'd finally take a crack at modeling a realistic head to go with the ears I made earlier. This is a self portrait (egomaniacal person that I am). I made ears during a post debating what is the most difficult body part to model. (The "ears have it" in this case.) The ear models (I made an elf/orc version, too) are still available if anybody needs ears for their own model. Ears Here's the face to go with the ears (idealized of course--"Isn't he so handsom! Gaffaw, gaffaw..."). Any suggestions for improvement--for the model that is, not plastic surgery for myself--are quite welcome. Thanks!

Hi, This was my first time entering an Image Contest, and it was really a blast! I was busy the week before finishing off "The Door is Stuck" in TAOAM (check it out in New Users and give me some critiques on that too if you get a second). To start, if anyone wants a good laugh, here's my chicken-scratch sketch where this began: -Jim ...and some wireframes: -Jim ...and some shots from other angles:

Here's a comparison for Nancy, of the before and after images when I use the DreamyPhoto effect Photoshop plugin. It slightly zoom blurs a copy of the image, tints it (in this case a soft red) and adds it back on top at whatever opacity you decide. To me it takes away a lot of the hardness and rawness, while retaining the sharp edges of the original image and not blurring everything. This example is from a 1 pass preliminary render (without AA) so that's why the edges are pretty jagged. I can't find the final render without the DreamyPhoto effect. Grr... I'm sure all of this could be done by someone in A:M Composite. But I had already spent enough time on this i…

im working on this little guy...he started as a doodle and i want to keep him as a kind of cartoony guy so i drew the outline then made the mouth and eyes as splines rather than decals so i could move them around. i made them render as lines and black then gave them bones. i made a simple animation where he waves and set it at cartoon render. now its done and i cant see the eyes, and changing his expression is a pain. does anyone have a solution for me? I have this thing for wanting realistic trees in my scenes. Ya'll can have your toony trees. We use a lot of panels with cookie cutter decals, and tree hair. A recent case we have is going to require us to fly down the road, past some trees so I thought I would make one using the treez plug-in. The problem was the high patch count and when you put hair leaves on it, My system would chug. So..... I make this tree which only has 700 patches, is 50 feet tall (leavea area a little large), and has leaves. I used the AM enhance Foliage material to create the leaves. It has a way to go but I like it so far. [attachmentid=20403] David

Hi! I have been tinkering with an old project and have noticed that an old problem still exists in A:M12. The problem is that if I have dynamics turned on for the hair of my character and I have dynamic bones elsewhere on the character there is some kind of interference set in motion between the two. Some of you may remember an old test that I did with a Woot model whose coat-tails would fly up when the hair dynamics was turned on. This problem still exists in version 12 (v?) and I wondered if it has been solved in version 13. Another problem that I am experiencing with this character is her hair. I have the constraint set to 'spring' because that always seems t…

I don't often bring images/animation out of the New Users Forum but from time to time someone posts something that I can only call inspirational. This is definitely the case with Glen Clarkson's 'Cavalcade of Rabbits'. Not only did it make me laugh but it was presented in such an innovative way, all while demonstrating the basic principles of Exercise 4: 'Move It', that I felt it needed a little promotion. Little touches like this really put the spotlight on what a little time, serious thought and effort can produce. Is this Showcase material? Maybe not. Yet here in its simplicity its great stuff never-the-less. Glen is still refining the …

A simple task as picking up a telephone receiver is more than meets the eye. OK, so I have Shaggy answering a phone; I wat him to pick up the receiver with the cord attached to it. In order for the cord to follow the receiver, I made the receiver bone a child of the last cord bone so that where ever the receiver goes the rest will follow. However, when i constraint the receiver to Shaggy's hand, the rest of the cord bones do not follow Now if I make the receiver the parent bone, the problem is the cord will move as a solid part of the receiver and you wouldn't have the amiability of the cord. Would appreciate it if anyone out there has the solution to sha…

TWO is progressing well - so well in fact that we're moving into modeling for Act II, (there's still plenty of animation to be done in Act I but the modelers need to stay way ahead of the animators). Alain Desrochers, TWO Set Manager, will be looking for modelers for "Mrs. Yoop's Castle" (which Alain designed). This is the best set in the movie, with lots of gothic and macabre details, and plenty of opportunity to be creative without having to be a perfect modeler. So, all of you car modelers please raise your hand by responding to this thread. You don't have to commit to a lot - just bite off a piece here and there: plenty of statues, ornamentation, hallways, and…

Penguins have always been a favorite animal of mine. Perhaps it because they look like they are dressed in formal wear, or maybe it is just that they are physically unable to steal my french fries (unlike one of my least favorite animals: seagulls). Either way, the other day I drew some penguins for a comic (here if you're interested) which got me thinking about penguins once again. So I've decided to try making a basic model of a penguin... mainly because I'm not good enough to make a non-basic model Attached is the 1st step... plan of attack is adding some feet, shaping the head a bit, shaping the rest of the body slightly, fixing the eyes, possibly adding som…

Hey guys, Been a while since I've had any A:M'ing time. I got inspired by one of the Bradburies (I think it was Matt) who had done the planets. There are some *huge* textures out there (also, Blue Marble Next Gen is awesome cuz it has a picture for every month on the year so you can see the snow advance and retreat) that can be put to good use. I still need a cloud map, and I'd like to have some kind of auroral "roadway" from the Eastern Washington, California and New Mexico areas to finish it off. But here it is in progress. It is actually the opening screen (no text) for my thesis proposal presentation. I'll be dry-running in about two weeks, and hope…
