I was wondering if the gurus at Hash have ever thought of doing a series of tutorials on digital tutors. I know the recently blender was added could animation master also be in added in the future? I think that would be a huge boon for the program if that happened but who knows.

Hi A:Mler, for everybody in a german speaking country it may be interesting to know that there will be an article by Ralf Gliffe about Hash Animation:Master v18 in the Digital Production 04:2015 (the biggest german magazine about 3d-graphics and post production, http://www.digitalproduction.com). My computer died and I haven't subscribed for years. Do I need a disk in the drive? Does a new subscription mean I have to start all over? I do still have my subscription serial number. Does that still apply. Its a long story, but 2 years ago I got mugged and had a fractured skull. I have a bit of memory loss. But I'm doing good enough now to come back to A:M. Hi guys! I was a long time A:M user. For my new project I (had to) switched to Blender. Blender is great in some aspects and really bad in others. I really miss the logic and workflow of A:M. I have coworkers and I simply cannot explain them how to make some things (like object instances) which was extremely easy in A:M but practically impossible in Blender. I cannot show them that- since my A:M version 13 doesn't work on my Windows 8 anymore (don't know why, since it worked couple of months ago when I tried. On the same system of course. Having some bother with Toon render in V17g. ( OSX 10.85 ) At the weekend I succesfully rendered the same chor with Toon and non toon renders, then composited them together. That was at 720 HD. As the project overall will be at 1080HD I went back to try it at that res This was the non toon render When I reset the chor so that only the figure was visible and tried to Toon render it, with the same setting as used for all the other chors in the project, It crashed everytime. I've tried it about 20 or so times now, trying different variations of toon setting but without success. I just tried it with non toon and it worked but, without changing anything e…

Who will be the first to test it out? Have a problem I've not encountered before and wondered if anybody else has and if they might have a solution ? This is a screen grab of the scene with a quick render in place. It shows the composition including the two figures. However, when I render it to file from the same camera, with no other changes, this is what comes out. A close up of one figure. I had asked if it was possible for a rounded edges shader in AM a long long time ago. Seems that Houdini 16 has it now. Not sure if much dev is going on with AM these days. Seems awfully quiet.

I've discovered a bug that crashes A:M v19.0 on my Win10 machine under very specific circumstances. Before I submit a bug report, I'd appreciate someone to check my work to make sure I'm not missing something. All required files should be in the zip file including the following image showing the chor layout (top view). That little notification window thingy is now appearing to suggest I have a few more days on my current subscription and it's always a good time to reflect on where I've been in the past year and where I might focus my attention in the future. It's been a great journey thus far and yet I remain confident the best is still ahead concerning the potential for creativity with Animation:Master. What a great 'little' program A:M continues to be. Hi. I just wanted to report that the http://amfilms.hash.com/ site is totally broken. It doesn't render properly in Chrome, IE or Edge. None of the links work. I have tried all the links on the Hash site to get to this site and it results in the same issue.

Is it possible to edit a decal stamp ( a long time ) after it has been applied ? It is only as I get to a closeup shot that I find that there is a patch on a face cheek that the stamp missed. A bit of a clanger on my part. Rather than go back and redo it by flattening the model and starting over again, can it be done abother way ? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you simon

Trying to set up a shadows only render in V18 using Z buffered shadows on a single spotlight. Shadow maps set to 4096. It doesn't appear to work. If I keep all the other settings the same, but change the spotlight shadows to ray traced instead. The shadows render as required. Is this a common problem and is there anyway to fix it ? Simon

There may already be such a rendering option, but it would be really cool to have an equiangular or fish-eye, or dual-fish-eye "360 degree" rendering option. Has there been any interest in adding this in A:M? I'm working on binaural 3D audio rendering of whale songs. What is binaural 3D? If you listen to a normal stereo recording with headphones, it will sound like the sound is inside your head. Binaural rendering (if you synthesize the mix) or binaural dummy head recording (live recording with an anatomically realistic dummy head) pops the sound out into space outside your head where it belongs, even though you are listening with headphones. Hello, I found that the export of a model containing constraints of path, once animated and exported like a model, loses its constraints and the bones are not in their positions. Here is an image illustrating the problem, and the model to test the problem. Are there some things I did wrong?

Modeled a column for my Guardian set and got to the difficult part of having the rounded divets on the ends of the fluting. I could have just faked it, but I went ahead and worked it out. This might not be the best solution, but this worked for me.

Hi there, the new forum design looks great! I didnT find a section for techincal questions though, so i put it here. and wheres the whats new button now? I am still on AM 15h and discovered surfacebaking bbut: sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Any ideas what factors might influence that. Ram and grapics and render power shouldnt be the problem. Hello everybody, many already know that little tradition of us and I did not want to forget to post it here. Hello Hashers- I have a choreography with multiple windows open and they have thin red borders inside (see pic). When I click inside the window, the red borders disappear and then come back. Hello AM, I explore AM's extremely efficient and powerful mapping system ! I have a question about surface displacement : The definition is not excellent and we often end up with a rather coarse physical aliasing if we approach the 3D model. Is there an option to achieve progressive aliasing depending on the distance to the camera? thanks in advance greetings

I would like to use the Vector Interpolation driver on bones in an action file. I used to be able to select it in the option menu and set it for the project be default, but now everything is defaulting to quaternion. Even an older project is defaulting to quat. I change it in the options to vector and it just keeps reverting to quaternion. I don't want the rotate.w channel for this project, just xyz absolute values. How do I fix this? Thanks all, Charles

I recall when radiosity renders took hours. Now it's a few minutes. I dropped some old models from the AM CD into my tiny house room lit with radiosity. All the lighting is just that one bulb light near the ceiling. Mach 5 Racer: BioBot: MotorCycle: Janitor of War: Space Marine. Something about the surface specularity on this model and the previous one is causing the conspicuous bright spots in the room ( I think).

Shown are three copies of the head of the Jungle Queen. Each head uses single attribute "skin" materials. The leftmost head material has subsurface scattering turned OFF while it's turned ON in the rightmost head. The centre head has subsurf. scat. turned OFF on it's right side while it's turned ON on it's left side. I'm wondering if anybody is in support? i guess you can't call them anymore, still waiting to hear from them, going on 3 weeks now, I'm running windows 07 64 color, I have v15 on the cd, i bought the 79.00 upgrade to v16. I've tentatively revised some stock A:M characters that are used in early tuts for these reasons If you have some time could you download and install the "updated.zip" data set (found at AMReport 6203)and give those characters a test on basic things like posing the bones, using the sliders, doing a Paste-Mirror, and see if they perform as expected? Also see if they are showing up in the Library as expected. I know next to nothing about the workings of the Library. If they are good to go they'll replace the flawed ones that are in the basic A:M installer now.

So v17b, is there a problem with the EXR.iio plugin? I get a warning on launching A:M that it won't load. If, as I have, I swap the plugin for the one from v17a it launches perfectly.

Hi! So here are the Bugs I was talking about. Sorry for blackening certain parts out in the screenshots for copyright reasons. Bug A: A model imported from V.16c: Renders well, but after changing reflectivity value on a certain group, it suddenly renders oddly (looks like accidental double extrusion, but isn't). Bug B: Figured out that it's an refresh/update issue - while rendering well locally, things mess up rendering via netrender (cps/splines magnitudes are messed up). I am trying to get a linocut look in A:M. Something like this (linocut by danish artist Palle Nielsen): The closest I can get is this (done with the Grid material in A:M): But I would very much like to be able to let the grid follow the surface on the organic forms, and also to get variation in the type of crosshatching/lines. I'm about to do some briefs using two figures on a seesaw ( teeter totter in US ? ) and wondered what the best way might be to constrain them to sit on the plank might be ? Tried constraining them to a bone in the seat, with a translate to but they seemed to move relative to the bone when the board was rotated ?. Now have two nulls, one to each side and the figures translated to those. Are there other methods anyone can suggest ? regards simon

With the recent talk of Copy/Pasting poses I thought I'd revisit Dopesheets... For years I've wanted to put together a tutorial on the extended use of A:M's Dopesheet and have consistently failed to do it. The attached isn't much improved from that but rather than throw it away it might be of use to someone. Is it possible to copy the key frames from one character in a chor and post them onto another using the same rig. If so what is the proceedure ? Have tried selecting all of character A's keys in the PWS and pasting on B's but it beeps to suggest not possible ? regards simon

This model was sculpted and retopoed in 3DCoat and then exported as an .obj. Then imported into A:M. In the last step several faces across the object disappeared. First I thought "flipped normals", but this does not seem to be the case. I have looked at the object in both Blender and Messiah Studio, and here everything seems okay. Anybody have an idea on whats going on? And off course how to repair, without destroying the underlying UVs of the object?

Hello, Just hours before my flight to Vegas I finally got Animation Master Chat up and running in it's new home! The machine is a new install and has some updating to do but I it should not restart till 3am(at this point I'm not sure I trust that though). If it does restart it will be fast so do not worry. You guys may even get to see my drunken miss spellings if I log in to make sure it's up while in Vegas.
