zandoriastudios Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 http://zandoria.wordpress.com/2010/01/10/chicks/ I decided that I need to be a little more active online, so here are some sketches of some of the "chicks" in the latest incarnation of Tar of Zandoria. If you want to subscribe to the blog, I am going to be posting sketches, designs, and work-in-progress there. Feel free to comment! Quote
steve392 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Great drawring ,The tuts and especially that Airbrush one is very good ,Thank's for the link .Look forward to seing more of your work Will Quote
Xtaz Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 beautifullllllllll william ..... as always .... is there some splines done Quote
HomeSlice Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I've never seen a sexy, voluptuous, naked bird woman before. You might start a whole new paradigm. It's good to see the land of Zandoria is still alive. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Hyenas: Tar encounters these guys as he comes out of the desert. They have already ambushed a caravan and made-off with the chicks [for nefarious purposes to be revealed later]. Tar will meet the caravan survivors right after this fight... Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 18, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted January 18, 2010 Great lookin' critters! Quote
KenH Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 It would be so cool to animate a character like that. Inspiring stuff. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted January 18, 2010 Admin Posted January 18, 2010 That's a great idea to go anthoropomorphic Will. This is going to be good! Quote
KenH Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I think Will should have his own section of the forum. Hint hint. Quote
detbear Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Sketches look great Will.... I especially like the Heyena. Cool. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted January 19, 2010 Admin Posted January 19, 2010 I think Will should have his own section of the forum. Hint hint. Any time he wants it, he's got it. We could even include the old 'Lost Worlds of Zandoria' topic. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 It's hard to believe that I've been off of the grid so long! The "lost worlds" thread had some neat stuff in it--not lost, but I definately am leaning in a more cartoony direction now... I still have more sketches to develop the look, then I will start modeling (and re-modeling...) the things that I need for the story. no need for a special forum...I am going to blog my work-in-progress. Quote
williamgaylord Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Good to hear from you after such a long stretch "off the grid". Interesting "birds" in every sense of the word! Actually I like the new slightly "cartoony" look. Quote
ruscular Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I took some time off as well! I love your new blog, and I sign up on your twitter! I spent about 2 week re-learning how to rig, funny how much I have forgotten. Plus new plug-ins sort of revamp my process. I think Hash AM is still kicking and still going strong. Have you been thru the face rigging and the setup the community are using? I was thinking of going to toon, but CPU these days are stronger, and I actually push for more realism, and heavier mesh. When I have something I'll show you what I have been doing. BTW I been out of it for so long, is showing realistic naked female animation allowed in here? or is it frown upon? Do we have an adult only forum? Quote
zandoriastudios Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 More Hyenas....Ninja Hyenas!!! Quote
zandoriastudios Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 http://zandoria.wordpress.com/2010/02/11/monkey-wizard/ Quote
Admin Rodney Posted February 11, 2010 Admin Posted February 11, 2010 Nice! (I mean... nicely evil!) This short looks like it's going to be edge-of-your-seat! Quote
zandoriastudios Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 More sketches: http://wp.me/pjM7W-47 Quote
higginsdj Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 These are all wonderful characters (I really like the Moneky Wizard) but is't that/this an awful lot of characters for a short? Cheers Quote
zandoriastudios Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 I hope not...Each little section/scene seems like it will only be a few minutes..maybe 20 minutes for the whole episode? [i guess it might start to get out of hand...] Quote
zandoriastudios Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Storyboards, Scene 1 http://wp.me/pjM7W-4j If anyone wants to leave feedback on these opening scene storyboards, that would be cool and helpful (where the drawings are crude, keep in mind that it only has to serve as a visual note for me, since I am doing it all).... Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 16, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted April 16, 2010 That's a great opening scene! -Tar's shield is awfully small for such a large body. Maybe the shield could have some spring loaded extensions that pop out to make it bigger? -I don't think the ninja leader needs to say "Kill him!", that intention will be obvious in the action. If he does need to give a command, how about doing it in some language that is not english? Quote
KenH Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Nice intro. Maybe instead of "Kill him" he could be more descriptive such as "Get me his head on a stick". A bit of a mouthful though. Or they could just do a war sound. That sequence alone should keep you busy for another year. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Yeah--the shield is really like a little buckler. And I think the language for this might just be "RAARRRRGH!!!" (kindof translates as "get him!"). The subtle thing [that I don't know if it will come across] in the boards, but maybe it will in the film: To the viewer, and the bandits, the vultures are symbols of Death (for Tar)--but when the fight is over and the vultures descend on the bandits, it is a little twist of fate: The vultures maybe just follow Tar because he is their meal ticket! ....Death follows him. I got that by the end of the sequence. I like the way that seemingly cliche detail at the beginning turns out to be something else by the end. Quote
JavierP Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Interesting intro. Sort of reminiscent of a Zatoichi or a Toshiro Mifune film. I also like the inclusion of some authentic Aikido in the description. Should be good. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 I studied Aikido for 5 years!--I thought I would slip some in Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 New model of Tar, I think that the character is really starting to feel 'right'. It feels good to be back-to-work in A:M Quote
kwhitaker Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Cool, Creative, Interesting, really enjoy seeing your work, Tar looks great Quote
KenH Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Nice model! I'll be interested to see how he moves in a fight having such stumpy legs. Could be challenging. And are his arms a little lower than his shoulders? I think you should rig him before texturing. Quote

And are his arms a little lower than his shoulders? I think you should rig him before texturing. yep, maybe a little too low...good call. Hard to get the t-pose right, since that isn't how I draw him... Quote
mtpeak2 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Don't raise the arms up too much. Just raise them to the point where you want the shoulder to be when the arms are down at the sides. This way you won't need to adjust the shoulder as much when you are animating, only when the arms go above his head. Quote
nino banano Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hi Will, great intro in your story, I like the TAR character, keep posting...greetings Quote
animas3D Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Nice characters and models, Will. Looking forwards to seeing more. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Here is the rigged and textured version of Tar. I used TSM 2 for the rig, 3D Painter and Photoshop for the maps, and Simbiont A:M materials (Dark Tree) for his equipment. Quote
John Bigboote Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Wowwwww.... great sh*t! I hope you mascot that! I look forward to more! I really like the doilee-dew on his kneecaps! Quote
KenH Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Gorgeous. With a big bat like that, I'm glad you didn't do a silhouetted side profile. Why has he got a different "bracelet" on each wrist? Edit: Oh and some whiskers might finish him off. Quote
johnl3d Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Great model and sketches always in awe of the models that get produced with talent like yours Quote
HomeSlice Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Excellent, as always. Its good to see you are still working on this. Quote
