shaunf Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I thought people might be interested in having a look at some of the work I have done for Jamster recently. I'm working on them to let me show it on A:M films, but in the meantime...... http://www.jamster.com.au/jcw/goto/graphic...802749795S11111 Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 26, 2005 Hash Fellow Posted October 26, 2005 Those look real cute. (I can't figure out what "clap" is about.) Quote
dborruso Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 LOL Those are fantastic. Great hair. Funny animations. Can I ask how they pay you at jamster? Do they pay you once upfront or do they pay you by how much you sell? It is something to think about. Thanks Quote
micheldani Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Wow man, This is excellent work! the rendering and the animation is quite impressive... show me more! Quote
shaunf Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Jamster! International have since given permission for Hash Inc to show the clip on A:M films, so if you follow the below link you can have a look at a higher res version of the complete clip. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=1077 Quote
Odog2020 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 man that was great, and my son loved it. It just looked so smooth and real, don't know why they were picking on the middle guy though Anyways, great work, would love to see more when you get em Quote
pequod Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Fantastic animation Shaun, technically very impressive too. I bet you had a few 'pass throughs' to contend with. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 That was excellent, Shaun! I think that is the best display of A:M hair that I have seen up to now. Did you hand animate the falling lid, the one that bounces at the back-left of the screen, or did you use Newton on that? Brilliant! And the sound track! Did you do that too? Excellent all round! Quote
KenH Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Very cool. Some relief from their previous frog character. Can't watch it without smiling. Quote
jamagica Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 hahaha...I have never laughed at an animation as much as I just did. The gestures are HILARIOUS. The part when the middle guy is hitting the trash can...the movement is so funny (yet it's still great animation, no doubt). I also like how he reacts to the other guys hitting him. He looks at them both like "what the heck"...VERY GOOD. Quote
NancyGormezano Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 that is too too excellent - what fun! Terrific job. Very engaging characters, animated wonderfully - superb. Where did the music come from? Did you do that or does Jamster provide the music? Quote
shaunf Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 Hey Chaps, Thanks for the comments I bet you had a few 'pass throughs' to contend with. Damn right, And many that I missed, but I ran out of time and had to be happy with what I had. Where did the music come from? Did you do that or does Jamster provide the music? Nope. Not my music, they gave me the music and I animated to it. I'm more of a 'Maceo Parker' kind of music guy Quote
cosmonaut Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Wow, that's amazing. Wonderful animation and that hair is FAN-TASTIC! Did you render that with V11 or V12? How long did that take to render with all that hair? For some reason I'm not getting the sound but it hardly matters. Really, really nice. Kevin Quote
shaunf Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 Did you render that with V11 or V12? How long did that take to render with all that hair? Hey Kevin, I rendered it in v11, although hair looks better in v12 now. It took two weeks to render running a render farm of 6 x 2.8 gig machines. Each frame was about 1 hour. I rendered out one image of the background and comped the shadows and monsters in on top. If I had rendered the whole thing (ie. the background, monsters and shadows all as one pass) it would have been a much higher render time. I love my render farm. I wouldn't have been able to render this with my one machine. Quote
Sacman Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 HOLY CRAP!!! or as my son (who is addicted to online games) would say...OMFG!!! Nuff said, Wade Quote
ddustin Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Shaun, That looks great!! Excellent work David Quote
agep Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm pretty sure I saw them on a monitor inside a clothes shop (one of those flatscreen who shows musicvids and commercials)... Anyway, Vell done! Quote
phnxpyre Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 That was a really sweet animation. I keep finding myself watching this over and over again, because it is so awesome. I really like the music and the over all feel of the clip. Good Job! Quote
Luxo Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Wow that was incredible! That deserves a standing ovation, in fact I'm standing right now as I'm typing. The animation is great and you've done a really good job on the fur. Awesome work! Quote
Sharky Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Hi Shaun! It is great work! Fantastic movements and funny characters! Shaun, what is the render farm? Yours sincerely, Sharky Quote
Wegg Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Really great work Shaun. Its impressive both in technical quality and animation. Two thumbs up. Quote
ZachBG Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I'm always afraid to look at your stuff, Shaun, because it reminds me how much better I need to get! Stellar work. Quote
3DArtZ Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Yeah, that vid has gotten itself a permanant place on my hard drive.... I've watched it like 1000 times! Really wow! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
brainmuffin Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Excellent work. I've already watched it a million times. (Largeley because of the two smallish humans who gather around chanting "Again! AGAIN!" every time it ends...) Quote
Sacman Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I had to show my two year old how to hit the space bar to start it again....and again...and again....all night. Sadly, I actually did not get tired of hearing it over and over. Too funny. Wade Quote
shaunf Posted December 13, 2005 Author Posted December 13, 2005 Hey Chaps, My latest Jamster project is now online. I can't show the full animation yet, but here are some images from it. Jamster mouse project Cheers Shaun Quote
JTalbotski Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 He's cute! Can't wait to see the animations! Nice work, Shaun. Jim Quote
Zaryin Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I love those muppets thingys! The mouse one looks great too. When that gets done be sure to let us know. Quote
KenH Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 That's looking promising. Can't wait to see it. Do people ask you to do these or are you doing them off your own back? Also, have you stopped doing the birds in the nest animation? Quote
Kamikaze Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Wow, I missed this thread.....so freakin great !!!..........Ill be keeping my eyes open now..... Michael Quote
Sacman Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 So what exactly is a handynummer??? I do believe I have watched the first one over a hundred times and shown it to at least 20 people. I cannot wait to see the new one. I hope I don't have to give away my handynummer though??? Wade Quote
trajcedrv Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 This is one late comment, but I really loved monsters animation (My two - year son loved it even more)!!! Can't wait for the mouse animation! Drvarceto Quote
gschumsky Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Bummer. I went to go look at the AM films version and when I click on Play I get the QT logo with a question mark in it... Quote
John Bigboote Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 It just worked for me. FANTASTIC! What a fun piece! World-class work shaun. Quote
John Bigboote Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 And now I can't see it. Seems ALL of A:MFilms is down... Quote
shaunf Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Hey peoples, here is the latest mobile phone animation I have completed. This time for a company called 'Sharky Mobile' who have since sold it on to Jamster. Once again all done in A:M. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=1084 Just one note. The lip sync is slightly out, this is because of a timing issue in the music after the animation was completed (they found the music was about a half second too long after it was all put together and had to re-edit it). Quote
JTalbotski Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Aw, poor little guy.... Very well done, Shaun! I love the part where he first says "Please say yes." Is that a matte painting of the street and houses? Did you create it? Jim Quote
shaunf Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Hi Jim, It is a matte painting and rendered using A:M's 'layers' tool. I didn't paint the painting. Sharky mobile had it done by another company 'Stenarts'. Quote
MMZ_TimeLord Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Awww... poor little guy... I'd let him in... Excellent animation! Great work again shaun! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 28, 2006 Hash Fellow Posted January 28, 2006 Wow, fabulous look! Quote
KenH Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I love it. It really has a Christmasy feel to it. Great mouse and great hair....and those eyes! So blue and cute. One thing I noticed was the lip sync toward the end didn't seem right. Or maybe it's the versatility of his mouth. Something about it. Edit: It's probably his big bucked teeth getting in the way. Quote
3DArtZ Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Why is QuickTime telling me I can't view this and that the software needed is not available on the qt server? Any help, I'd really love to see the clip too!!!! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote

shaunf Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 I don't know about that chaps. Do you have QT 7? Kenh.. re lipsync... I actually mentioned previously why it was a little out. Just one note. The lip sync is slightly out, this is because of a timing issue in the music after the animation was completed (they found the music was about a half second too long after it was all put together and had to re-edit it). nixie Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Love it Shaun, very nicely done. So much inspiration around here; It's time to pull my finger out! Appriciate being shown, the forum seems to have died down recently. Regards - Nixie Quote
cosmonaut Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Wow, I really need to check the showcase forum more often (it's kind of lost in the middle). What a fantastic piece of work Shaun. How did you get away with such short hairs on the little guy? The animation is amazing but I'm almost more in awe of your rendering...keep up the great work! Kevin Quote
3DArtZ Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Finally got to see the clip! What a great little animation. Very nicely done. It looks so pro!!! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
