Well, I have officially started designing my sets for the fantasy story I'm creating. This is a prelim of the first of many scenes. Here we have is a corridor leading....somewhere. Wherever is goes, it looks like a friendly face is sure to greet you. Preliminary. At this time I intend to add more to this set. - debris on floor and in corners - a few cute(?) little rats - maybe some carvings/runes/grafitti on the walls (?) - definately a carbon dioxide like fog rolling across the floor (some early attempts were pretty bad) - maybe a spectral form roaming the corridor. - more glowing effects from the lanterns Take a look, let me know w…

Hi, this is my first final render of a project I've been working on for an art competition at my school. I'm hoping to add some fire and smoke on the back of the planes to make the image look more dramatic. Any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [attachmentid=15097]

well guys...I've decided to add another character to the scope bot crew (that one robot who right now is frozen in front of the plank it just rolled over) This time, I'm actually using modeling techniques (making holes, 5 pt. patches, Porcelain, spline continuity, hooks, etc.) Check it out so far! I'm still trying to figure out with the style of the legs, arms and head will be. I want them to be somewhat related to the look of the scope bot. here it is so far

Went through my pc and came across an older project where I made a base female body (for something to work off from). So I decided to make my griffon project again which was why I was inspired to make the base body. Here is the finished head attached to my base body. Might be pointying her ears, I haven't decided yet. This is my first female head ever after I don't know how many years of modeling. I think it looks pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good. Next to build clothing and armor for my griffon rider. Comments welcome .

Hey, I just wanted to say that I was a little to hasty when I got all sore about the forum a few weeks ago. Yesterday I used A:M for the first time in like 2 months, anyways, I noticed that it sparked my artistic side, and I did a lot better in my art classes. Sorry for the way I reacted two weeks ago, anyways, I hope you enjoy this simple render of 3 spheres. The ground for the first one is White with 200% diffuse and 100% reflectivity. The 3 spheres are 75% transparent and 100% reflective. This one was rendered at 1000wide 900high The ground for the second one is Black with 100% reflectivity, and the spheres are the same attributes as the first. Thi…

I have been working on one of my alternate funny endings for my Cluedo parody project. This ending shows butler/undercover inspector/narrator (Earle Grey/Fred Herring) cleaning the windows. He concludes, inviting the player to come back again sometime, then turns to rinse the window - only to find that somebody just opened the window! I really wanted to do this one, so I experimented with particle systems. The first experiment was with Blobbies. I wasn't happy with it. For a start, it took far too long to render - and besides the water looked more like gello. The second experiment was with Streaks, which I have used. I am pleased with it. I achived th…

I made this picture for my mom for her birthday. I made myself stay away from texture and realism for the most part, and tried to just focus more on the asthetic value of the picture a little more. It took probably 6 hours over the course of the week. The fir is always the biggest pain. Anyway, here it is.

The sun probably needs more rays cast to further diffuse the shadows from window muntons and I think there should more light coming from the street through the upper entrance but it's getting there.

Hey guys, It's been like 6 months since I've posted anything content wise! So I took sometime this afternoon to make a quick animation. It's just for practice but it does need some finishing for sure.... But I won't be working on it anymore, as I'm one of those guys who can spend an eternity trying to perfect things.... and those are the people who usually never finish anything! Anyhows... check it out! About 800kb, sorneson http://www.vrcops.com/vids/OverTable4A.mov btw.... is anyone else really not satisfied at all with the newest version of quicktime? at least on the pc.... Started out trying to build a mouth that I could stich to an existing head. After hours of pulling CP's around, I had something that could be the front of a fish. So I went with it. I just rendered this cupboard twice, once with 0 multipass and once with 9x multi. Both renders came out somewhat blurry. Of course I checked the usual such as depth of field (off), reflections soft (off), fog (off), etc. In the options, I checked "use settings from this dialog" and only have shadows and reflections on in the rendering options. I'm using nothing other than Yves 20 light skylight. Got me stumped.

I just rendered my mini movie that is due tonight and keep getting seemingly random black renders on one character. There are about 5 bad renders in a 960 frame movie. Attached is a picture of one part of a rendered frame and the setting for that frame. I change them, but they change back to nan% when I render. Is there a way to change all of the settings at once for a particular property? I'm on a Mac, running 11.1 (latest version). [attachmentid=14915] [attachmentid=14916]

Here is a character is that I've been working on for a tiny short. Its a very simple character but I've been using it to try to learn to model and use the hair system. Over the course of the next few days/weeks, I'm hoping to tweak the model some, add a basic skeleton and set of controls, and possibly do an animation test or two in this thread. Suggestions in any area of the process at any time are greatly appreciated, Thanks, --Ross

Hey everybody. Whats goin on? I haven't posted much lately, last thing I was doing was working on my "jaguar xk" car but my computer crashed and I lost the file. Kindof a bummer, but I'll get over it. So, I was gettin kinda tired with just modeling and wanted to get to animating. So I made a basic character that'd be pretty easy to animate. Its all rigged and stuff but just with the TSM2 rig (no smartskin or fan bones or nuthin). I figured I'd put it up here for comments and critiques and if you guys want it later I could donate it to the forum or the next CD or somethin. K. Cool. Lemme know what you think. Later-

I am proud to announce the release of Froggy Boxing. This is a one punch and one block button mashing game. If you want tons of fancy characters and moves buy street fighter. If you want to beat up a frog, this game is for you. There is no installer, just download it to your desktop and run the exe file. Sorry there is no mac version of this game. Here it is: http://www.3dfrog.com/wips/froggyboxing/froggyboxing.zip I hope you have fun playing it. Pass it around to your friends if you think they will like it. Kids will probably like this game the most. Happy Boxing

Here is a new revision of the mouth creature. http://home.alltel.net/collinsfamily04/walk.avi I like the skin on this one. Thanks a bunch to Will for the excellent tute on mapping! One point though, if you use the approach of using one image pasted "through" the body, (from one side) the bump map portion becomes inverted on opposite sides. Color is fine, it's just the bump map. Due to normal direction I suppose. I now understand how to use the UV editor, and it is a gas! Cory

Hello all, It has been a couple of months until I posted something. I have been working on my website and on there I have characters created in Am. (All except for the rabbit where created in AM.) As you will see I am a fan of toon shading. I do photo realistic as well. I just have the about page done and contact. I am putting the animation together to post real soon. This is my first attempt at radiosity rendering in A:M. It took me about 2 hrs to model, 1/2 hour to setup and 22:25 to render at 1024x768. Not bad seeing that I used materials for everything except the white tiles on the chessboard. Space backdrop courtesy of NASA. I hope ya like it. Let me know what you think.

Those of you who are familiar with my work know I'm not a render monkey--I love beautiful images as much as anybody, but I'm too impatient to wait for them (or to learn enough about lighting to make them). However, my recent Olympic vodcast got such a good response I decided to re-render the last shot, where Shaggy falls into an iced-over swimming pool. I used Image-Based Lighting for the general outdoor look, and decided to try soft reflections on the ice and see if it would look any good. Hot DAMN! This is with only 10% sampling on the soft reflections, and 9-pass multipass. It really looks like ice, doesn't it? (Of course, at eighteen minutes per fram…

Hello to all - I have been working on my first short short film for a couple months now and finally decided to consolidate my posting regarding it in this thread. Operation:Sphinx is code for my yet unnamed toon. It follows the story of a creature as it lands on a planet unknown to it, and we witness a surprising discovery. As of today, the shot sequence is done and I am currently working on props and finishing the storyboards. And of course, i'm doing a slew of animation tests with the main character. I'm new to all aspects of filmmaking so this project is going to take me a while. I'll be halting production for tutorials and other collaboration…

I have always wanted to see what doom 3 would look like if I rendered it with radiosity. The game engine does not have any baking for lighting, so every light is ray traced. I've used the editor to take measurements of the garage I wanted to recreate, and I'm using textures from Doom 3 for all of the surfaces. The entire geometry took me around twelve hours to input into A:M, but the results are already very cool. Here is a render that I did yesterday with photon mapping but with no texturing. [attachmentid=14610] Since the image was rendered, I have added railing, more pipes, wires in the back area, and a few textures. The animation shows the room a bit …

In trying to learn modeling I gave myself the task of creating my Juno 60 synth in AM. The shadows are a little dark around the black keys in one of close ups, as I was trying to show of the glowy numbers. This was a fun build, not 100 percent accurate, but still pretty close. Learned a lot about decaling and using Illustrator, thanks for all the help from Vern and Robocat.

John Burch and I have been collaborating on an industrial visualization project. John has done an excellent job, particularly considering his exposure to industrial automation was zero before he started on this project with me. John's website is http://www.lizardfire.com check it out, he has some great stuff there, and also consider him for contract work. This image is for an automation company. Their client wanted to see a virtual example of what the 2d drawing looked like. The work is meticulous and requires great attention to detail. David

To view it go to: http://www.vw-polo.de then wait until the "real"-animation of the car has ended. Then you can choose > Helden (heroes ) > Gewinner (winner) > Abenteurer ( adventurer) now you get my toonrenndered animations ... at the end with "nochmal spielen" you can play it again. Great thanks to everybody, who helped me on finishing this job. I learned a lot ;>) Jake
