As I seem to jump from project to project, and test to test, some things seem to progress very slowly. I have decided to use just one thread to post most of my WIPs and tests that I find interesting or require some criticism. So here are a couple of recent tests: First a clip produced while testing AO in A:M 14: GroupTest_A00d.mov mp4 version: GroupTest_A00d.mp4 This next one was produced from an action being used to tweak the weighting on the caveman: BusyTest__FunA03b__A00d.mov mp4 version: BusyTest__FunA03b__A00d.mp4

Hi all, Here's a render of the new hair from v11 alpha. The image has been softened with this free plugin that I love, DreamyPhoto. You can get it, for Mac and Windows, here: http://www.autofx.com/freeplugins/dreamyphoto.asp?id=7 I still have some things to fix, like the hair penetrating her ear. And since I removed her gloves, I need to add fingernails. Her fingers are also penetrating the gun. It took 4 hours and 47 minutes to render this because I have three wide raytrace lights with 9-11 rays cast, reflections turned on (the gun!), the particle hair and 5 pass multipass. I didn't have the patience for 16 passes. I rendered the image with an al…

Hi Guys, This is a little test I have been working on for an upcoming project. I decided to post it because it seemed like one of those "can AM do blah blah?" kind of effects. So, I guess what I'm saying is 'AM can do plasma rockets too Oh yeah, and its all procedural as well. Javier

I'm working on a personal project I hope to animate sometime soon. When I finish this model, it will be my first real completed 3d model. The entire thing is being modeled in Animation Master 9.5 (atleast until I upgrade to 10). As I get further along, I'll be posting finished models, textures and storyboards. Any tips, crits, or input are greatly appreciated. I'm teaching myself as I go.

Hello fellow hashers, I'm working on a feathered charactor and cant decide how to best modal him for animation, Ive attempted it a couple of times but im not sure how best to do it. Like for example should I make the beak as two seperate parts? Im just sat here looking at a blank screen! ive got that mental block and I just cant shift it! check the attached picture for the design of Orfeg the budgie. Cheers - Chris Nix

Hello, List. Here's a brief animation test, featuring Gaty, my alligator boy. It's very short (30 frames, 226 KB). It just shows Gaty jumping back in surprise. My reference was a page out of a Preston Blair animation book. I think I have the same book that Smudge has. Right now I'm copying animators I admire, 'cuz I want to animate like them. Thanks for taking a look! Sincerely, Carl Raillard jump_back_in_surprise.mov

Hi all, Inspired by Steve's excellent video tutes, and being extremely lazy myself, I am trying to produce a series of video tutes about texturing a head model. Creating an html tute was driving me nuts and was too much work. I have a first round test up on my .mac site, which I will keep there only for a short time. I'm posting this now to find out if both Mac and PC users can view the video. It is a Quicktime movie, compressed with the Apple animation codec, and the sound is compressed as an MPeg-4 sound. You will need Quicktime 6.x to view it, I believe. If a few of you (both Mac and PC folks) could download it and let me know if you can see and hear it okay, I woul…

I think I'm done with my geometry... I'm putting up some screen captures for any design/ modelling criticism before I start bugging (no pun intended) everyone to help me with the texturing. Haven't had the time I've wanted on this, so I haven't made many changes since my last post. Just redid the hands, tweaked his face, put in eyes, made the inside of his mouth, which I can't even see. Anyway, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks -Andrew

Some of you might remember this little guy: I'm making an animation with him for my film class this semester. He needs a battery powered car for the animation, so I started making it. Only the back has been worked on...it'll have 4 wheels when it's done. Textures have not been worked on at all. comments, suggestions?

Here is a car that I made to go with one of my characters. I am no expert on cars but I thought that I would just do a quick sketch and then start modelling. The idea is that is supposed to look kind of flashy and impractical.

Hi, Been too busy enjoying the festive season to post much, but I spent a couple of hours trying out a different way to quickly create heads. I was after a carved puppet feel and I think it worked, especially given the time. Don't know how well it will animate. I had to try and avoid hooks, three point and five point patches, because they don't work with displacement maps, but I think you could just plan these in areas where the displacement is unnecessary. ciao

Clicky Yes, I was so happy when this popped out. I'm working on a Riven-style-interface game that takes place in a moon colony in 2319. This is Version 4.0 of that same room. Maybe I'll be satisfied. The whole reson I'm redoing it a fourth time is because I made the choreography in AM 8.0j, then upgraded to 10.0 (now I'm running 10.5i). When I try to open the choreographies in 10.5i, all the models go to 0,0,0 and scale 100,100,100. Is there a way to get around this, or is it another Animation:Master Oddity? Thanks.

This character actually has been morphed into three different characters using the same mesh, this is one of them. I'm open to Q&C, maybe there's something I can add to make him look more like a klutz. BGI: His name is Eddie, he's the second oldest of three brothers that lead a life of crime by robbing banks in the 1960's.

I'm really getting used to the A:M modeling tools. I literally whipped up this model (made in 2 hours). It's not perfect, it's not finished but it's a start. I could tweak for weeks now but I've limited myself to another 2-3 hours (spread out over a couple of days) of point tweaking. Then I'll texture and rig and maybe add a body along the way. I used no reference, therefore if you tell me it's porportions off I will tell you that it was a stylistic choice (lol).

Im new to this forum and new to AM and modeling. I did the first few tutorials in the book and kinda just started doing my own thing and learning myself the program. I posted a model of an axe i did with textures from a picture of an axe basically the same one.My 1st model Now, im still working on this model im about to show and its my VERY first organic model. His name is Boon Dock Billy. Enjoy. Oh. And please comment on it tell me what i should work on because in my oppinion i dunno if he can have bones put in his face and animate them without bad clipping. Any suggestions and criticism is welcome.

Hi, Would love some feedback on this character, good or bad. Especially on what to do with the clothes. I was planning to have some loose fitting clothes, but haven't come up with a design for them yet. Oh, and sorry about all the grain, bloom and blur, I just had to play around with those. Ragnar p.s. He's still got one eye missing.

For those of you who remember, I've been working on a personal project involving a clock - a clock which I'd ideally like to have fully animated inner workings. Following the honed wisdom of Vernon "I make paper clocks" Zehr I've bought a working cardboard kit clock and have begun constructing it with the intention of duplicating the mechanics in A:M. Now in the mean time, whilst waiting for glue to dry, I've build a very simple facade for the clock in A:M. This has also given me the opportunity to play with some of the new render features of 10.5 - namely mulitpass ray width shadows and multipass DOF. Here's a 32 pass test - There are no materials yet and just…

Hello, I recently finished a live action short titled "Time Serpent" my two sons ages 9 and 11 (this is how old they are now not at the time I filmed/video'd them) came up with the basic idea. My boys love to do this stuff and have me add things with animation master. The Short is about 13 MB in mov format (codec is Sorenson? I think) it's not professional but then neither am I. It's in my sbcglobal yahoo briefcase and its set to "everyone" so I'm hoping all that wish to view it can. I'm not sure if they have a limit on downloads so if they do please forgive me beforehand. Also..the model I used as the Serpent was a free model I got off the web somewhere, if you…

Well, I had a moment to sit and work on another set piece for my animation. It is, as the subject indicates, a coat rack (or hat rack if you prefer). The textures are not final. I just threw them on there. Comments, questions and general observations about life are welcome.

Hello - I thought I would try to knock it up a notch in my modeling to see what I was capable of doing at this point. With a little struggling I think I am finally starting to "get it" a bit. I modeled the frog and was trying to think of the most detailed, challenging outfit I could put him in, and I went with a scuba diving setup. So anyway - here we are - I still need to rig him up and think of a short animation to put him in, but this is what I have so far. Any suggestions that you can see to help impove my modeling or anything else, would be much appreciate. Thanks - Eric

I'm currently making a short film for both enjoyment and education, so any feedback on the trailer I have created would be great. It still needs work on the tree leaves and bark, and the obvious tile pattern on the tower - but hey! - I have never really done this texturing bit before I have the '3D Painting & Texturing' book on the way which should help alot! Looking forward to your comments

Ages ago, I put up an animatic of a short piece featuring a cricket who resorts to modern electronics to improve his chances with the ladies. I've *finally* gotten around to actually animating one shot for this. Any comments or nitpicks at any level - modeling, lighting, animation, etc. - would be very welcome. http://www.digins.com/jack/cwip3.mpg (1MB) I created a reusable "handheld camera shake" action based on Sotiris Gougousis' excellent "Expressions in AM" tutorial; I'd be happy to post that if anyone's interested.
