GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!

-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

So I find myself having fun with particles. I really like the explosion that comes with A:M, and I need it for a project. My only problem is that I need it to be eg 10 times bigger. How do I do that? I've tried to scale the material itself but it didn't help. Any tips?

I need to make a collar bone line on my model. But as you can see it picks up other lines I don't need.. I have figured out how to remove the hooks line but I am at a lost on how to remove the other unwanted lines. Any suggestion?

i know this sounds stupid but as many times as i've been to this website, i can't figure out how to make an image appear under my name in the forum post area. i have an image on my page but some people have an image under their name every time the they post a comment. i just wanted to know how you do that, i can't find a setting for it anywhere.

it was working before, but for some reason I cannot save a action as a pose ! I am setting a default constraints of bones in an action window and then usually go -- > Action / Save as Pose but now it stopped doing it. It was working fine yesterday ??? Well, hello, I am interested in buying animation master 2006. But there are a few things I wanted to know about it before I get it if anyone can help me... Hello hashers, After a long time in the wilderness I'm trying to get back in to A:M. I feel like a newbie all over again. I'm very familiar with A:M V8.5 p++, but it will not work on our new WIN XP CPU. I've installed my A:M V9 2002. My old A:M model work uses half traditional modeling and half use porcelain depending on the type of character. Is there a different way of making porcelain.mat to work in V9.5f? When I apply it to a model it doesn't work like i'm used to. It has no effect at all. Any one have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I look forward to upgrading to V13 as money and time free up. Hi, I'm following a pretty cool tutorial on how to make a double helix, but I hit a snag. I don't think I have the same version as the author and I don't know how to twist the helix as he says, I added the link and a pic as reference. Can anyone help me on how to find exactly what he's doing? Or an (simple) alternative I could do? Hello People! I just received my A:M in the SnailMail box today and I'm totally new to all this : ) 1. Do I always have to insert the CD when I'm launching the A:M program? It tells me to do that every time. 2 Is 13.0 the latest edition of the program? I thought I got the A:M 2007 but the program says A:M 2006. I'm so exited learning how to use it!! So far everything seems to work fine I've tried it for one hour now. : )

The bone I'm trying to aim is is right there, but I can't get this other bone to select it with the eyedropper. I try to select the target from the list and the bone does not appear on the list. I can see the bone on screen, but clicking on it gets me "None." The bone I am trying to aim at is a child of the bone that I am aiming with. Don't know if that matters*. * It must matter. I just made it a sibling bone and, bam, it worked! Thanks for your help, um...me! I solved it myself within minutes of asking, lol. Is that one of the laws of rigging? that you can't aim at child bones?

OK i still have yet to give up on my TA style building and am still trying to find a way to make it work but have run into a problem , i have made a diamond that should count as sold but when the Boolean hits it it cuts it off as if it where hollow . is there any way to make it cut as if it where solid

I noticed that since i've installed vers 15, my library is all but gone. Unlike previous versions, this didn't ask me if I wanted to "copy the CD data". So now all my actions, models, etc have to be "shortcut" back in. Is there an easier fix?

Ok my models or more presisly my terrain in a movie im makeing has gotten to the point where i can no longer rely on color to show what i want to that end i have aquired a 500X500 pixel image of sand that i wish to use only problem is that only 1/10 of the ground area will be sean at any one time. to that end i need to know how to "tile" this image on my terrain model so that when close up it looks like sand. ( if youve play supream commander youll know what i mean)

so im have a devil of a time trying to get a dress on my character. i thought maybe i could use cloth to move around and or bounce off so when he walks or sits or bends over in will move as a real dress would but it just seems to wrap around like a diaper. are there any tuts on this ? heeeeeeeeeeeeelp. dress_test.prj test_dress.mov

so in my rush to fix my shade wire issue i went and did a complete install of 15.0h....i wish i waited and saw your later replies about 15.0i. never the less i did the install and ive noticed that i cant modify and or add libraries. ill do the usual folders tab scroll to lib. and add new. click through to my extras dvd data / library. the path is all there and i restart AM and its gone as if i never added it. anyone else get this?

Hi, all. I'm trying to rig up a simple contraption, where I just need to move one hinged lever, and it has a knock on effect moving all the other attached bits (see WMV file for what I'm doing). I've got it working, but I can't believe it needs to be as complicated as it is. Do I really need so many bones? The JPEG shows the bones and their constraints. I just move Bone1 and everything else works from that. Bone3 has a kinematic chain to Bone2. Bone6 has a kinematic chain to Bone5. Any critique of my method most welcome... action.wmv

Hi - I have a light set as a klieg and I want it to be an obvious spotlight where you can see the light rays coming down and only the light - almost so the character would have to stick his hand in to see him in the surrounding darkness - is there a setting for that, I have been turning everything off and on in the lights setting, but no luck. As you can see from left to right, I have a simple Model inside I've created a simple (50% intensity, BTW...) light, then you can see how its represented in the realtime view and more or less that's how I'd like it appears, and finally what I get when I make a Render instead... is there any way I can change the alpha channel color from black to something else? another hair problem: i want to drive the color and the length of my hair system by 2 different decals, or one decal with 2 different images in it, seems to be no difference. driving the color is no problem, works fine. but when i add the second image for the length, it affects the color of the hair too!!!?? i´ve done it all like in talbots hair-tutorial-video, but it won´t work... first i thought it might be a windows-version problem (sometimes i´ve some problems with images there, won´t be displayed etc...), so i tried it in the osx-version too, but same thing. all i do is select "other" in the decal-images "type"-menue, then add a property and select l…

Hi, This question feels like it should have been asked before but I cant't find anything about it... Anyways, is it possible to copy a pose from one bone chain to another? Say for instance I have the pose "Curl up left index finger". My preferred way to animate the other nine fingers would be to copy this pose, and then tweak each instance until it looks right. However, it would seem that the way A:M works means I have to animate all 10 fingers from scratch. Am I missing something or is this the way to do it? Regards, MC

I have the 2004 pro series training videos. Once I have clicked on the index file the video plays. There are no controls to stop, pause, play etc... I have worked with AM about a year and a half now... Anyaways I'm having problems trying to make a gun fire. I've been trying to use a small sprite emitter, but for the life of me I can't get it to work right. I've been working with the flames.tga that comes with AM. What I am struggling with is that I need the sprite system to be below the camera in one frame and appear in front of the gun instantly to make it appear to shoot. However every time I do this a long fire trail follows it. Is there any way to force the images to stay attached to the emitter while the emmiter is moving? Please Help! I've had this problem for so long!

Hi all The latest sticking point I've been having with a small project I've been working on. I just finished creating one of the first 3d set pieces I've been experimenting with In this case a stairway. (Yes I know It has a way to go but bear with me) Anyway what I want to do is animate a tracking shot going up the stairs. The problem I'm having Is I mostly have figured out how to manipulate the camera and I think some of my attempts are working. But so far I haven't even figured out how to look through camera 1 so even If I'm doing everything else right for the render I'm flying blind. I added an action to my time line and it disappeared. I do have the path ease set so the model stops on at the end of the path, so the new action can take over. But it is not there for me to edit. Anyone with any ideas?

What would possibly be the best and least rendertimeexpensive way to create a rocket engines jetstream matching the TOON WITH FALLOFF? style? Working on the Smoke, wind and fire tutorial....I'm on page 181 of the handbook, and my timeline does not look like the example in the text. Nor can I see a color representation of the shift in color from brown to yellow. Does version 15 have a weird thing going at this point?

i just upgraded to v15, and now i have 2 problems: i was rigging a character, done that a 100 times before... when i switch on my ik-arms setup in the action the right arm of my character stands curiously out to the right (bild14), when i turn it off and on another time the arm is in the right position, but the elbow-bones are now placed at the shoulders (bild15 & 16)!!!??? something like that never happened before... has anyone an idea whats up there? my second problem is that when i use the skin-shader it affects the white of the eyes of the character, they go hyper-white, no shadows on it at all!

I seem to have misplaced some free animation master models had believed they came with the extras cd volumn 1 but was unable to locate them anywhere they are the Office Props models, stored a small assortment of desks, chairs, and various other office models figured i might be able to use em for my animation considering they are not my primary focus

I've done the first five tutorials and I'm now having fun doing bouncing balls routines with Shaggy. And I thought I'd like to add some music to them just to play around with that. I have a 54 sec. WAV file to use, but I'm not doing too well getting it into the choreography, timeline, etc. for synchronizing. I went into exercise seven "KeeKat, can you say that", to try and get a handle on adding sounds. I read the info on the HELP menu, but I'm still missing something. Is there more information out there on adding music that I can get to help me out on this? Thanks...
