GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

Is it possible to configure A:M to zoom on the mouse pointer? I realize I can use the Bound Zoom when I need to zoom in on a specific area, and that works great, but using the scroll wheel and mouse pointer together to zoom in on a target area has become second nature... Just curious.

After modeling and rigging a character, I decided to test it on the walk cycle from TaoA:M. Having spent so much time in the Project Workspace, I got use to double clicking on an item when I needed to start something new... I did this for a new Choreography Action as well, thinking I could do the walk cycle that way. However, near the end of the process I discovered that I did not have access to the "Has Stride Length" setting. Can this be turned on somehow inside a Choreography Action? ok thanks to all your help i finaly have enough models, materials and special effects i need to render a movie, ( there will be more questios as thry come up so your not off the hook yet) my next question is how would i make certain items stay with the camera to make the apperance of a hud ( heads up display ) it will have about 5 differant parts that will have moving/changing parts themselfs and i cant think of a way to do it

So I watched a demo 34 minute tutorial by Jeff Lew on his website, and I was struck by how fluidly he is able to manipulate his models. When animating, I've never had the option of creating poses as quickly as he does, because my refresh rate is so much slower. I've got a 1 year old iMac Core2 Duo, with an ATI RadeonHD2400, and I thought that made my experience good. But now that I've glimpsed the other side, I'm just wondering if I'm missing some drivers or something, because he made this video SIX YEARS AGO, and he's putting my animating experience to shame. I have been trying to combine some live action clip, when I place the clip in as a rotoscope I see a white box covering the screen. Clicking render mode will show the frame with the clip but I can not see it when I am trying to adjust the models. Now I am not able to see the clip at all. I have tried different video formats but it is not showing any improvement. Any help would be appreciated.

OK this should be a interesting effect to pull of if its is actually possible , i currently have a tank like unit going up against a big walker , this walker has a gun that fires a green beam that is in essence a disintegration ray , what i need is a way to have the model disintegrate on one side till its all gone , to make an example take a block and shoot a beam at it only the part being directly hit would start breaking up first or a ship breaking up from the front till the back side finaly breaks up or in dragon ball z when i guy gets hit with a energy blast

Hi All, My first flick. Hi everyone, I need a quick an answer as possible as I don't have much time for this project. My problem is that when I add an image in my chor. it receives lighting from the sun, rim etc. which distorts all of it's colors. Is there way to have it not receive lighting? Thanks, Jared

I have a path and a character that walks on the path and blended a pose at the end. So far all is good. I have a camera that isn't tied to the path and I manually moved the camera to follow the character. When the character reaches the end of the path, if I move the camera after that point in time the character will slide on the end of the path and not stay where he was. Is there a way of keeping the camera move independent from from the character on the path?

I set up an object to "glow" as a pose slider from 0 to 100% but it seems to only work as 0 or 100% nothing inbetween. I know the setting is either off or on - but I thought I would give it a try. I am trying to make a tooth glow - up and down to make it look like it is pulsating showing pain. Any ideas if the glow thing isn't possible would be great. I suppose I could just do glow "off" "on" "off" "on" etc., but I wanted to fade it off and one. Anyway - thanks. - Eric

Hi, at the intro video of Animation Master you have Homer Simpson and a T-rex being animated! I wonder if someone has this model? I didn't find at the extras CD that people mentioned in other posts. Also, Homer, the fat guy, is no longer avaiable at the FTP. I saw at other posts that it was in the Data folder of the FTP, which doesn't exist anymore. I really wanted to make some animation using the T-Rex. I found a free model, but couldn't import to A:M. I can import it as a prop but it is useless as it has no bones! Quick question... Is it possible to delete a control point from a spline so that the curve of the spline is maintained? Something like when you shift click to add a CP to a spline and the CPs before and after the new CP automatically adjust their bias to maintain the curve. For instance, I have the following spline... ok i thought my comp would have been goo enough but apperantly i have a model that even in wire frame lags when moved , i downloaded a free base female and managed to successfully import it to AM it is a bit complex to make for ecelent detail, is there any thing i can do to make it go faster or am i just gona have to deal with it

How do you animate values like the rate of emission to start/stop a particle material from generating particles? I've figured out the way to animate things like opacity, size, and gravitational effect, but stopping and starting the effect using rate of emission eludes me. An example of where it's done is the Explosion Project in the Animation: master libraries. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. Whoever can answer this for me absolutely rocks. Even if you don't answer, you probably rock anyway.

I'm posting a little help notice in here because I need some help with lesson nine and other than Robcat and Rodney I haven't seen too much of anyone else in the TAO area. Hi all, Trying to create a blanket over a character in bed and having all sorts of problems with the mesh passing through the blanket. I've been reading through the forums and found reference to Solver Precision which I cannot find. Anyone know where that is? Also, the forums suggest changing the polygon modifier/Simcloth but when I right click a model in the choreography no option show's up under polygon modifier (that is, no simcloth option). Any suggestions? I'm still using v12w (yes, I need to upgrade!)
