The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

SO I got my 2 new computers. I own AM V16 both Web and CD. I cant get AM to launch at all. I coppied my master lic but no help. I put in the code from the cd but no help. I also can not run the messengers for net render. Any ideas?

Hello and here is my scenario: I have developed MANY detailed models in A.M., V15 - that I want to have plastic Injection Molds made from. The Models are to Exact Scale because threaded Inserts will be needed and holes will need to be lined up and they need to interact with other components in the "Industry Standard" size. I am trying to convert one of the many files with little success. My Problems: 1. AM's MDL files are not supported except in Wings 3d (Old version). 2. When I export the model into a *.OBJ or *.DXF File - I lose my curved surfaces. I must have curved surfaces (I thought DXF supported that? No? How do Autocad users get their smooth model…

Hey, kids-- I'm slogging my way through the rigging tutorial in David Rogers' book. After you rig one leg, it says to copy the pelvis-down hierarchy, select those, enter scale mode, and scale them -100% in the x-axis to flip 'em. That's no problem with CPs, but all of the scale boxes for bones stay grayed out, and I can't figure out how to get them active. I can scale those bones using the scale manipulator in the modeling window, but obviously that is imprecise, and I can't flip them on the x-axis that way. What am I doing wrong? Thanksh--

I've downloaded the Mirror bones plug in and placed it in the hxt folder... as outlined in it's instructions and the instructions for the 08 rig, however, everytime i open AM, I get a warning message saying they were incorrectly installed (for all three files) and failed to launch. So, what did i do wrong? I've tried adding a path in the tools option screen, but get the same message. Can someone direct me to a post or tutorial that will tell you how to install plugins? Thank you for your help.

I have made the models and the actions and now in the chroeography I am putting together my movie. But when I want to add a new model in the middle of my action, say at about the 5 sec spot, the item I add then flys in off the side and moves around during the first part of the movie where I don't want it. How do I add something later in the footage without it being in the first part. Thanks for any help. Lucine

Hi Everyone, I just recieved my software today. I installed it on my c:/ drive. The problem is that each time I start the program, it asks the disk to be loaded. I thought I saw this earlier, but I can't seem to find it when I searched. Thanks for your help... Regards, Bob

Alright, this is my first time making my own skeleton and I need help. I don't know how to get the target to bend the legs like on the 2001 skeleton and it is really frustrating me. I am uploading the skeleton to see if anyone could help. Add or remove bone and targets if needed. Hi Folks I am not good with expressions attached is a model I made. The numbers need to spin like a counter adding up to 103. That means the right needs to spin the fastest, the middle needs to spin a slower and the first digit needs to spin the slowest. Eventually the number needs to land on 103 for my project. I made some expressions. currently to animate the dial you need to rotate bone 4 in an action. Thats the fist digits bone. Although this can kind of fake what I need however the rotation of the 2nd and 3rd digits rotate from clockwise to counter clock wise at some points. so you loose the illusion if you spin too slowly. If anyone can help tonight, I would appreciate it!... I am not to familiar with decaling and alpha channels or decal transparency. Basically i am trying to decal portions of a ship i am working on. the decals i have are colored with black around the edges. I would like to apply the decal to the model and then change the image so the black portion becomes transparent leaving the color portion of the decal. Hi all, I'm starting up yet again with exercise 6 after being away for quite a while, and I'm running into the same problem that stumped me before. I hope I can explain it properly. I want to have Shaggy walk up to the door before he tries to open it, so Ive made a path, dropped Shaggy onto it and then dropped a "resolute walk" action onto him. The walk cycle lasts for 7 seconds. When he reaches the end of the walk cycle, I want to bring him to a standing stop with his feet together and his hands at his side, but the walk cycle goes about 3 or 4 frames too far in terms of the hand and feet positions. when i make a path and stick a character on that path and give it an action to move along that path it works out great.. but when i get to the end of the path and try to move along the entire thing goes to hell! a few frames after the path-action combo if i just nudge one of the foot nulls with an arrow key for example then go back to frame 0 and play it through the entire sequence now has that nudge in it and the lower leg doesn't move like it previously did. i messed with the key frames for quite a while and still couldnt figure out how to keep the action and the movement after the action from getting mixed together

Hi! I've been working on "The Door's Stuck" animation chapter. I've devised the script so that Shaggy tugs on the door slowly once or twice, then tugs three times in quick succession. All of that gets me to frame 00:06:00 or so. At 00:06:00, I'd like Shaggy to turn his head to the camera as if to say "What the Heck?" So, at 00:06:00, I did a "Make KeyFrame" and at 00:06:10 I set a key frame and turned his head toward the camera. My PROBLEM is that now his head starts turning to the camera from the first frame (00:00:00) instead of at 00:06:10, where I'd like him to start turning. Hello again, just finished a figuring out the skeletol heirarchy for a character I am starting. Now my question is......... When I smart skin a joint. As I move the sliders up and down in time line. Am I setting permanet characteristics? i.e. I bend the hip 90 degrees. does that limit the flex of the joint until i reset it? My character's right leg "disapears" and "reapears" as I try to move the joint in choreagraphy window. Also is it important to set all Joints? dont know if I being clear enough. I am so close to being able to create my toon walking and acting in the world. You know how I feel! I can almost see my ideas in real life. Please help!!!!!

Well, I'm at a boarding school. And I just may have the oppertunity to teach a course in animation master (10 hours of work per class) Problem is, I need to learn AM in 4 1/2 months or less... Hi all, I'm starting up again with exercise 6 after being away for quite a while, and I'm running into a problem right off the bat. I reloaded windows and when I reinstall v12, it says it can't start because it can't find mfc71.dll. I've downloaded it, installed it in both the AM folder and the system folder, but I still get the same error. V11 starts ok from my disk. How do I solve this? Searched on mfc71.dll and got 0 results. Dear All A:M user. I 'm trying to use A:M by V11 ( illicitly version ) for a while to make a decision on purshaing software. I founde that it's very attractive program. Even if I try on C4D,Lightwave but I chose fantastic A:M. I just need to have advise on the way what I will go with A:M is not the wrong path to made me more confident. In an earlier topic called "Need Keyframe Help" I followed the suggestions that were made without success, here's what I did. Opened time line, at frame 00:00:00 I nudged Keekats Right forearm, keyframe was create at 00:00:00, at frame 00:01:00 I nudged Keekats Right forearm, keyframe was create at 00:01:00, moved time slider to frame 00:02:00, moved right arm to position I wanted, when I moved arm, time line changed, two more graph lines appeared and stated to come together at 00:02:00 as I moved Keekats arm, keyframe 00:01:00 disappeared. I am so glad I finally realized that there was a forum! I got this program about a year ago and I am still really struggling with it. I cant get my head around the keyframes etc... I suppose my biggest problem is that when for example I try to make a character move lets say two points of a triangle and then play it back, the chacter just seems to gradually move from his starting position to his finishing position in the shortest way possible. I have made an walk cycle for an character of mine. This action is repeated approximately ten times in the chor. don't know if this is the right place to post this but for my war of the worlds short i need some sound effects what i need at the moment is a good sounding heat ray sound effect i wont one that sounds like a real one i don't want any of the old sounding ones from like the 80s or like the 1953 war of the worlds (hope i'm not asking to much on that one) and a foot stomping sound that sounds like a gigantic metallic object is stomping on the ground thats about it hope i'm not asking for to much there

I have set-up a material Library for texturing the objects in "Tin Woodsman of Oz". If you would like to help get all of these objects for the movie textured, I could really use your help! All you have to do is drag and drop materials from a library onto groups in models, and then tweak the parameters on the material shortcut. It is just a matter of choosing an appropriate material and tweaking the color, basically. This is a good opportunity to learn and to contribute to making the things ready to render. I am working on an animated short, doing scenes in order of my own ability to complete them. I'm learning as I go along. Now I have a scene coming up which will present a challenge. Basically it will have my character in bed, under a blanket and she is supposed to grab the blanketand "fold it" away from herself as she is getting out of bed. I'm thinking about trying Cloth for this (for the first time), but does that seem like the right approach to you? Maybe I could just model a blanket and put bones in it that will allow me to animate it from a more or less straight state to a folded state. Do you think that would be better in this case?

Ello I have recently taken it upon myself to get back into the animation business and so once again i am in need of help. having taken a 6 month hiatus from AM i find that my skills with sprites have essentially fallen apart. what I'm trying to do should be simple but it causing me no end in trouble. I'm trying to create for lack of a better word Elemental spheres. as an example an ice sphere would look frozen with frost clouds drifting of it and snow particles forming around it , while a fire sphere would be, well on fire. I know there are tutorials to help do this but i for what ever reason cant quite find them any help you could provide…

Is there a shortcut or something that will allow me to move a group under another group, like a directory tree? I've got a pupil, eyewhite, iris, and cornea, and then an eye group that selects everything, but it would be a bit cleaner if I could just put the group elements under the eye group. Can AM do this?

I can't get the AM to find he license manager. I have done exactly what the instructions said. The dongle is runnig but the software can't find the license manger. I am running 2k3 server , which the dongle is attatched to. The license manager is running. Don't know what I am donig wrong Help Thanks.

Hello, I got my A:M software about a week ago, I've been fooling around with different things. But now I'm ready to get serious on learning how to use A:M. I'm trying to create some gun shot blood splatters for head & chest hit's for my film. (www.revelation2222.com) I found A:M at an FX show in Orlando and was hooked on the spot! I could post some clips for examples from Land & Dawn of the Dead, But I'm not sure if that would O.K. there only about 19 frames long. Thanks!
