-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.

-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)

If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

okay, i am doing the flower power exercise and when finishing using the duplicator to create the multiple petals, the petals wont show in shaded mode. i am not too sure what the tutorial did to make it show in shaded mode. in fact, he didnt add any color, he just went to shaded mode and it was displaying the pedals in a grayish manner. i decided to put color on the petals to see if they would display but nothing happen. i only get the stem and other two leaves that i created below. i uploaded my project for you anyone who wants to help Project2.prj

So I'm working through the different tutorials and right now I'm designing the flower. The problem I'm running into is my stem/bud won't move with the bones, but it seems everything else does. I've attached a picture of moved bones and the stationary stem/bud. Any ideas? flower.bmp

Hello, hope everyone is good - it's been awhile since I posted, I have working on teeth animations... getting a bit boring. Anyway, I have a new client that wants his logo merging out of some water, kind of as a fountain... I was thinking I could bring his logo in as an .ai file and 3D it - then place it under the fluids fountain - does anyone have any samples they can show me of a fountain they have done w/ fluids, that would give me an idea if my idea is possible - I hadn't had a chance to play w/ fluids much from when it came out in the new version. Thanks for any help. -Eric

I have been trying to play with fluid simulation but got stuck, but still it's just not quite clear to me. As far as for the Newton physics and the SimCloth, you can just right click on the chor and simulate them, but there is no such option for the fluid. I guess my questions is How can I simulate the fluid? CHEERS!

Hi - I have a potential client that want their plastic bottle modelled in 3D and animated to show how it works. I have been playing around w/ the fluids tutorials and all the samples that people have generously posted and it seems that fluids is more designed to work as a faucet, hose, water fountain... anything flowing. Is it possible to have fluid in a bottle for example tip up the bottle and have it flow into a second chamber. I posted a flash anim of the bottle I modelled doing a 360 spin, so you can see the hole in the center that connects the two chambers that I need the fluid to flow through. Any help would be appreciated - even when you check "object collision…

Hi - I just upgraded to v15 w/ fluids - but I haven't has a minute to run through any of the fluids tutorial... I have a new client that contacted me that owns a plastics manufacturing company and they produce bottles that he wants an animation of one filled w/ fluid and have it tipping up and porring into a second compartment on the container - basically it lets you measure out a certain amount. My question is for anyone that has been playing around w/ fluids - is this something that can be done - having the fluid/water starting in the bottle about 3/4 full and pouring it out? Thanks for any help - Eric

Hi - I have to create a "rain" situation for a project I am doing and downloaded a couple of different project files from the forum and I can get any of them to work. For example I download http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29163 and I have the chor open and scroll over the timeline and getting nothing. I have played w/ this project file before and it worked fine. Do I not have something turned "ON"? Any help would be great. I dont' know if it matters, but I recently updated to V15f I think it is. Thanks - E

I might be a bit absent minded, but I forgot how to obtain fonts scripture into Animation Master. I know there is a restriction for only Ariel fonts, but for now I can't find a way to reach a way to access fonts when I'm in AM. For the good of all I would reconstruct scripture fonts myself, but I know there was a way. At least I did in the past. Thank you.

You asked: I am a new user of A:M and I'm having trouble importing Illustrator files into A:M. I have done this: plugins> wizard> AI> then browse to my file, adjust the settings, but nothing happens. Can you guys give me a hand? what are you trying to import into A:M? The AI wizard is mostly for importing AI vector files into A:M in order to make them 3D. It will extrude a shape created in AI, but it will not take an AI graphic that appears to be 3D and make it 3D... (if that makes any sense( Post the graphic here as a jpg, and expand on what you want to do with it.

I'm finding if I create a new Action window with a model, and I like the model default pose for my first and last keyframe, I can't just press "Force KeyFrame" on frame 0, move to frame xx, press "Force KeyFrame" again, and get keyframes. They just don't "take". However, it seems if I perturb a bone once in a keyframe (such as keyframe 0), and do the same procedure as above, the keyframes are "recorded" -- meaning I can skip back and forth to the keyframes. I typically have the filters: Key Skeletal Translations, Scaling, Rotations active and the Key Bone filter activated, and the other filters inactive, but I don't think any combination of filters has changed …

The idea is a thick rubber band with both ends tightly clamped so that when a ball strikes the rubber band, the body of the rubber band fluctuates the most at the center and less as it gets closer to the clamped edges. Here's the technical run down, I need to make a tube with 5 ringlets made up of vertices(I don't remember what they're called in A:M) be struck by another rigid body that causes the center ring(#3) to spring/bounce at say 100%, the rings directly above and below(#'s 2 & 4) to spring/bounce at 50%, and finally the top and bottom rings (#'s 1 & 5) not to move at all with a spring/bounce of 0%. How do I go about this? [Apologies in adva…

I was a little worried when I came back here about three weeks ago that the forums appeared a little slow or sparse but what I learned is the wealth and quickness of responses answers most questions immediately and so not so much the usual fluff you may find elsewhere. These forums , and especially through searches , are an amazing resource and when you cannot find something you just ask and boom a few folks come in with help . And finally there is the posting of work and wip's simply awesome. …

Surely this is a stupid question, but what am I missing? About 2/3 of the posted animations--if not more--won't play properly on my computer using Quicktime, RealPlayer, or Windows Media Player. They'll play sound, but the picture is nonexistent--just a white field. I've even tried downloading the linked files and playing them off my desktop, to no avail. What obvious step am I skipping? Thanks for your patience!

In some of the 'given' rigs I notice there is often a 'switch' or pose to change between forward and Inverse Kinematic linkage on a model ? i'm using my own setup ( too basic to call it a rig ) just simple bones with points assigned. The default seems to be that it becomes an IK system ? Is there a way to have the joints of the torso on forward while retaining the IK on the legs and arms. Or to be able to switch between one and the other? regards simon

not urgent, just curious. if doing a close-up real close up, something makes the model partly disappear. parts closest to camera just vanish. i first thought it's about the FOV tool in camera - that anything between that line and camera didn't render. but no. moving that line didn't help. then i thought maybe patches actually interfered with "camera", so i moved the camera. no change. too close was too close. i read stuff back to 2004 and found a solution, change the camera view to match another view, so you can do the pose wherever it works. (haven't tested yet.) but does anyone know what's behind all this?

Hello - I have created as short walk cycle with a model I created that I am now in the process of animating for a short film. The resulting choreography is okay, but I feel it is hard to focus on the girl model as she walks across the screen. I'm experimenting with lights and what not, but really have no idea what I'm doing. I thought it might be because I rendered it at A:M's default 30fps, but when I change the project's fps to 24, the choreography speed still looks the same. I'm unable to attach the file to this forum because I get a "You are not permitted to upload a file with that extension." error message. How can I show my results so members can see it? …

I restarted a subject I did earlier about fractal sum. I made this Thunderbird and wanted it to have a flare of light and smoke. This isn't that bad, make a small transparant disk and position it at the end of the engine. That is.., if the object is flying one direction all goes well. But the fractalsum asks a lot of calculation, which makes it hard to navigate between the frame position. So after all is planned and I want to change direction at say after 15 sec I have to wait several minutes before my computer has calculated this position. This is a bit weird because after another frame I have to wait again. So I compromised my choreography by shutting down all fra…

I had a spot of bother recently with the defaults resetting . That seems to have cleared up thanks to the help I received here, however, I have noticed an anomoly and wondered if it was a common one or a fault of mine ? I am rendering a 30 seconds sequence as a series of still files.. It cut out on frame 234 which @25fps works out to 9 seconds 9 frames ( ?) I restarted at that point (00:09:09 ) but instead of resuming on frame 234 it started at 273... Has my maths gone wonky ( not unlikely ) or has the frame rate stayed at 30 in the choreo even though set to 25 in the options menu ? Puzzled simon

OK, so I am rendering a scene where one actor shoots at another actor. I have bullet/laser model that emits particles, and motion blur turned on. My animation is rendered and plays at 30 frames per second. ...with me so far? Because my bullet travels fast, at 30 frames per second it is only in frame for say, maybe two frames. Problem is animation Master is only calculating its motion blur and particles at 30 frames per second, so the bullet only emits particle at the two points in space it appears in frame. I have spent the whole day trying to render an action as simple as "a character waving" but was unsuccessful and feel like giving up. I have the V11.1 CD and was working on Exercise 4: IT's a Pitch and noticed that my rendered file only show the last frame, which is pretty much a "still frame" of the last pose. It wasn't an animated file of the six poses I created following the tutorial exercise. I've been lurking for awhile, trying to decide whether to buy A:M or not, and I'm almost persuaded, but have one question (actually two) in mind before committing? 1. Can you "Frankenstein" together models? In other words, if I have a perfectly good head, can I say copy/paste it into another model and still preserve all the relevant bones, poses. smartskin, and muscle movements. 2. Further, if I have a head that I mostly like, but need to modify it, can I cut it in half vertically, then make all the changes I want including bones, poses, smartsking, and muscle movements - then copy/attach it all back into a whole head again? Of course, I know that when pa…

Is there a section for free use models? Has the community as a whole ever gotten together to create a free use library for anyone in the community to pick from?
