There have been quite a few characters posted to the A:M Community over the years but many are currently missing in action. Most are still available for those willing to launch a thorough search. But I think we can collect a few more here. If nothing else it is through the study of these models that we learn to model, rig and animate our own characters. A few of the characters that come immediately to mind are those previously collected via the A:M CD as well as those used in Animation Bootcamp, etc. Of course any Character used in TaoA:M or designed for use by beginners and those featuring cutting edge technology such as Squetchy Sam and updates and variati…

Hey everyone, I saw a while ago where some A:Mers had done some cool stuff with Lego people. Is there an AM version of a basic lego man available from anyone here on the forum. I'm thinking of doing a basic experiment but the obj versions of imported Lego figures are a huge mess spline wise. Thanks for any help, William

I recently found that two of my models will not open in v18h, indeed attempting to do so will always crash v18h! However all other versions of A:M are quite happy to load them which seems strange to me. So I thought I would post them here (in the attached .zip file) and maybe others would like to see if they can load them in v18h and maybe determine if there is something about v18h that needs reporting to Steffen. Also as this is the time for giving do feel free to keep and use the models in your own work as you wish. The bass models I re-splined and developed them from are both on the Extras DVD. A model just called "Woman" I think for Niki and "Meta Bean" for the snail.…

Next up is the Goof and his race car. It's interesting that recently I was thinking about how characters and props, or several characters, might work well as part of the same model. This is an example of that approach. I believe the author(s) of the project were some of the folks that worked for Saffire/Avalanche. Assuming that is the case I'd say... no wonder they ended up at Disney. Drive.zip

For no good reason I was suddenly taken with the urge to model a Smurf tonight. Not a particularly elaborate model and it isn't rigged, but thought someone might like having it... Here's the simple splinage behind it... Hope somebody gets a kick out of it. And hey, if you do rig the model, upload it here, so other folks can play with it. smurf.zip

I started back working on one of my people models and wondered if others want to contribute to this pretty massive project. I think many of the users here can benefit having access to good human models with all kinds of accessories, clothing etc. (something along the lines like poser has but better). So far I redid this character and plan on using the tsm2 unless someone has a better idea. If I can keep the base figures cp count down low and bare minimum, I think users can modify the character somewhat easily to make new characters. Tips, suggestions, comments etc would be really really helpful.

Holy yikes! I was rummaging through the files on the Extra DVD when I ran across a file named 'rbRobo'. The name sounded oddly familiar so I was anxious to see what it was. Low and behold the 'rb' is my initials and the robot was one of the very first things I modeled in A:M (after coming to this forum). Not much to see here but it sure brings back memories. I've shared this model several times before... but I'm officially doing it again. I don't know much about modeling now but I SURELY didn't know anything then Memories flood back about that timeframe and the project called 'My Robot Movie' that I had decided to share with the forum. The robot is a s…

Here's an old classic model from the Extras that I'm presently dusting off as I gear up for the A:M Exchange/Extras update I am reminded of why it can take time to update and document older models. Updating can be difficult. Documentation nigh impossible. With regard to the latter, please feel free to use this space to document any related information, stories of yore and observations of the character used. I once explored something similar with Keekat and got a whole lot of interesting information regarding the origin, character, rig, people and project involved. Jim_19.mdl

The "One Upon A time..." show, where 2D french series that were educational and fun for kids to watch! The "One Upon A time... Life" as part of the "One Upon A time..." show (runing from 1986-1987) talks about the human body and how it works. If you don't heard about them you can see the theme of it! : If you are curious to see the show feel free to watch it. Back in 2013, I created a 3D version of Globin the red blood cell. ABOUT THE CHARACTER Globin is a red blood cell, Hemo's friend, with whom she carries oxygen and carbon dioxide in the human body. Hey, I upgraded the Generic Man I was planning to submit for the additional 2005 CD. I didn't make it to the CD, but you can get it here in a zip file (12.5MB). It has a Phoneme chart and a text document explaining some info about what to do with him. ::::::::::::: The Text messege reads: GENMAN: Built in Animation:Master v-11.1d ----------------------- Modeling: I modeled him to be as small in patches as I could, but still trying to maintain some musculature and definition. Most heavy patches are in the head and hands. ---------------------- Decaling: I provided photoshop documents with layers and alpha so that you can just start painting him w…

I've finished working on the Lost In Space B9 Robot. I would like to send Thank You to robcat for providing me with his concertina model in helping me figure out how to rig the robot's arms. And thank you to all who comment and help me through the modelling process of this robot. I am including a project file, separate model, two action files and a single decal that was used in the model. Pretty much everything is rigged, lights, arms, claws, whirly gigs and so on. Lots of pose sliders to help make things a bit easier for you. The pose slider for retracting the arms doesn't work properly all the time. Not sure why. Also, I don't have any rigging for the treads…

Free to a good home: 1 Robot Caution- This robot is NOT 3 Laws compliant! 1. This robot is likely to injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. This robot couldn't care less about orders given to it by human beings, even if such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. This robot will protect its own existence and really doesn't give a crap about anyone elses needs. As you can see, some training may be required to housebreak him. No claims of great rigging or decals are made. Use of this model is unlimited but it would be nice to credit me for the Model and Ashley Wood for the inspiration. There is…

A while back (August 2007 actually) I entered the Anything Goes Image Contest. As usual, my grandios idea didn't quite pan out. I was loking at the character and thought I might play around with it. The inspiration was from Ashley Woods robot paintings and Robots vs Zombies comics. I just wanted to share what I am up to lately, I hope you find it of interest: EDIT: Oop's - posted *.BMP files instead of *.JPG....bitmaps too huge! Hi all I've been experimenting with the new bones and I thought I'd show the result. In the image I've boned the arm using a simple bicep forearm hand and fingers setup. There are no fan bones or smartskinning but I adjusted the falloff using the new bones. It took about 10 minutes to setup the arm, and most of the mistakes can be put down to a very simple mesh, and the need to experiment about more around the joints. The only addition I could think of was that in some circumstances it would be nice to be able to set separate x and y falloffs, as well as z. The workaround would be to parent in more bones to change the shape of the area of influence I guess. Lots more e…

Here's a project that contains all the various actors from the 1998 A:M CD. Note: For one reason or other many of these were not deemed appropriate for updating so they never made their way to the inaugural Extra CD. As these are mostly for inspiration and nostalgia decals and materials are not included but can be uploaded if requested. Although there are 37 characters (two Thoms, etc.) they weigh in at less than 9MB in the embedded file. If you want to save the models our separately just Right click on the model in the Project Workspace and Save As, as the models are embedded in the Project. Here's a look back into the past! This is just a reminder to those interested in collecting A:M Characters that two of the characters Jeff Lew uses in his DVD tutorials are still available via his site. Look for the link way down at the bottom on the Customer Support page: http://www.jefflew.com/DVD_support.html The site states: As I recall, one thing to note is that the constraints for these characters are all created in the accompanying Action files. If you don't open the character in an Action or alternately drop the Action onto the character in a Choreography you'll have a really hard time animating these dudes. Thanks to Jeff for the c…

This is one of the character models I used for my class animation. (I didn't finish the film, but I still managed to get an A!) I rigged him myself, from scratch. It's a simple rig, but it gets the job done. He's ready to work with the dopesheet. He could use another one or two pose sliders for the eyebrows, and maybe some smartskin on the fingers, but that's about it. Feel free to do whatever you want with him, customize him to your heart's content. Flynn.mdl

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! My friend Joey who has a Tex-Mex band called Xplozivo needed a quick poster, so I dug into my archives and saw my old cartooney skull model, so I slapped a material on it and some quick 3D text and away I went! The design is a 'cop' off a wonderful comic artist, Shawn Dickinson- who does great Weirdos, pinups, surfer art and monsters. His art I greatly enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/shawn.dickinson.12?fref=ts The Chromium material is included too, and is very handy to have around for quick metallic effects. Also, the 'crack in the head' employs a boolean, so anyone wanting to learn how bools work- take a look. ENJOY SKULL_SD.mdl Chromi…

Now this is an interesting model... rigging especially. It might even be the precursor to Joe Williamson's famous model with dynamic jigglings. The model looks like it could have been used as a starting point. In the rigging/pose sliders there are poses for breathing and oppai movement ('breasts' in Japanese). This is the first instance of anime eye rigging I've investigated and the eye closing and mouth smile sliders... the facial rigging... is pretty neat! I need to look further into how all this was done. I don't have much info on the model or creator. The file says it was created by Hasagawa Junnji. It was created in the v8.5 timeframe and if I can bru…

Since Rodney posted the 1998 Actors at: https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46023 , I looked into an old A:M screencapture and found out there was another folder, which included "Anime" actors, and was seperate from the "Actors" folder itself. At first I wanted to use the "Seira" model, but later I thought there might be other A:M users, who are interested in Japanese animation and might like to use the other anime models too (if someone would like to upload them). And again, as they'll be mostly for inspiration and nostalgia decals and materials will not included, they can be uploaded if requested. Thanks!

I did an animation using A:M about a decade ago, maybe longer. I had derived a robot character from a stock mannequin model included with A:M at the time (I believe it was called "mannequin"). Now, someone who saw my old animation is interested in me doing another one with the same character. Meanwhile, the machine all that work was on had a disk crash around 2000, and I don't have a copy of my robot model. Can anyone help me locate a copy of the mannequin model? It also came with a walk cycle action, but I'm not sure that will be portable into the latest A:M. The Hash guys have made a lot of great changes to the product in the meantime. Being able to import …

Yet another classic character from the past. This time it's Dojobot (which I believe was created by Tony Lower-Basch, who is the creator of one of my all time favorite animated series created with A:M; 'Nosferatu'. It's a tale I think would sell well in today's age of teenage vampires, monsters, ninjas etc. Dojobot and DojobotLite have an interesting aspect to them which just might explain why such rigs as those created with The Setup Machine had constraints that had to be turned on before they would work. In Dojobot's case, he has a pose slider that needs to be turned OFF before animating in a typical fashion. I don't recall every seeing THAT approach before…

Realistic Michael Keaton head that I never got around to using. The decalling is a bit sloppy and I'm sure there are those who will complain it has too many control points. The anime style is a captivating one. This model has a credit to Thom Falter embedded in it but it was modeled and donated to the A:M Community by Satyajit Chakraborty. Although my instinct is to fully credit Satyajit I must assume that Satyajit started from an earlier model by Thom and modified it into it's current configuration. If Thom or Satyajit stop by the forum perhaps they can clarify. When last I checked Thom had been working for ReelFX (on 'Everyone's Hero') and Satyajit was an illustration/animation instructor in India. While the rig for this character is operational it has some glitches. The model will look for the attached images for the eyes (…

I was running through some old CDs and ran across this model of Leela. The files info says she was modeled by Klaus Uwe Shomann. She is fully rigged and given that there is a Sci Fi contest currently running... she might be of interest to someone. *The CD must have been from very early in my use of A:M because the content was very scary... lots of little things that surely must have been my attempt to understand splines. Leela and a few models by Rodger Reynolds were the only models worth the time it took to burn the CD. Still, it was interesting to look back at those exciting times!
