Hello, I'm running windows 07 64 color, I have v15 on the cd, this weekend i upgraded to v16. and the activation key is not working, I'm getting error messages like, server status(-134 no such file or directory (error 2) bad parameter passed to RLMfunction (-123) bad return data from webserver (no status) (-134) no such file or directory (error:2) I have sent a email to support, but while i'm waiting, i know they have thier hands ful. Does anyone have a Thom Model or anything with the 2001 rig constrained to the basic BVH motion data? Constraining a character to BVH data has been on my list of things to do for quite awhile now and since I haven't got around to doing it yet I'm hoping someone already has one set up and ready to go. I'll post any Actions I modify from the BVH data to the 2001 rig in the A:M Exchange forum. Now that Robert has clued me into Baking Actions as a means to reduce the complexity of animation I'm all set to do some pose ripping. Alternately, if anyone has any character constrained to BVH data I'd be interested in testing that too.

In the startup screen for V17 there is a link for a tutorial on editing curves. When clicked on it says that it is not yet available but will be presently. Is there any news on when it may be available? Its an area that I need to become more familiar with. regards simon

Even after years of using A:M I find myself continually impressed by the breadth of features that are at our disposal. I was recently looking for a simple video/editor/viewer to do some basic reorganization of rendered frames (also from A:M) and thought to use A:M's own Choreography based linear editor. Needless to say it outperformed my expectations. I even discovered a few new things too. For instance, I didn't realize or had most certainly forgotten that saving out an Action of what I had edited together in the video actually could be reutilized (or just saved so that I could return to that earlier editing point). Have been working on the cpweights and other glitches for the past few days. when I noticed a rig problem ( entirely of my own making ) then tried to correct it without have to reinstall the whole rig. During that I inadvertently caused some bones to scale and, when I use the nulls to setup the finger poses I get some very odd results. Is it possible to readjust the values without having to reinstall the rig from scratch ? simon 2008 rig in V17 working in OSX10.68

This has happened before but I worked around it. If possible, I'd like to avoid it happening again. I animated my flour dancing. When it came to editing it to avoid mesh penetration, found that, in the choreography, there were two sets of keyframes to adjust. Can someone kindly point out the problem and how to avoid it in future? Thank you. simon

Hi all, I have Animation Master Millennium, v8.0 (I'd have v8.5 if my housemate hadn't shattered the CD). I still have my serial number, and I think I may even have the manual still somewhere. Is there a way to order a replacement CD of 8.5, or download any updates to 8.0? I still have v8.0 as it came on CD in February 2000. Thanks!

I find these days I rarely need to use the default 'Replace' and tend to use 'Add' as the Blend Method for actions. I'm pretty sure I've changed the default blend method before but can't recall how to do it now. Or did I just imagine that. Thanks in advance.

I was doing some final renders with my 'Holidays Image Contest' file and after 1 or 2 first tries I happened to notice a place in the camera properties where the file path and other parameters can be entered, so I tried it. I admit, I probably should have just left these alone, because after I entered the current final render parameters, suddenly, I could not get any out put from the final render anymore. I managed to re-enter the original parameters in there and it allowed me to resume my final render tests ok. When is the proper time, if ever, to enter any info into this area ? And/Or why would it seem to hamper my final renders ? Thanks

Hi, I posted this before and we all decided it had to be related to other Windows 8 weirdness but I completely reloaded the OS and all other problems are gone but my notebook is still shit canning me on A:M shortcut keys. My system info is below. Description: The Navigation tools work when the tool icon is selected but not when the shortcut key is used even though the mouse pointer changes the way it should. As far as I can tell it is only the navigation tools. Everything else works. Hi! So here are the Bugs I was talking about. Sorry for blackening certain parts out in the screenshots for copyright reasons. Bug A: A model imported from V.16c: Renders well, but after changing reflectivity value on a certain group, it suddenly renders oddly (looks like accidental double extrusion, but isn't). Bug B: Figured out that it's an refresh/update issue - while rendering well locally, things mess up rendering via netrender (cps/splines magnitudes are messed up). Not sure if this is the right toppic but it is a rat her strange archivement. SInce I use AMV17 on my new computer, and changing to 64 bit, I receive a strange delay in the icon. As soon as I click one I see a fast change between "explain icon (txt)", "show icon (symbol)", and finally "use icon (execute)". It is a minimal marge, but it surely slows down the workaround of the program. On winxp or win7 I had no trouble with it, but now on win10 it feels like beating that icon thing to work. What could be happening here?

Hey, there's nobody in the hash office until tomorrow. I have the worst luck. How do I install the app on my PC running windows 10 using the serial number. As is, the app installs without it and then doesn't work. The box that pops up says... The code execution cannot proceed because of mfc140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. please help

It use to be that if you dragged a cp onto a spline in a space with no cp.......and then right clicked.....it would make a hook. However, I'm noticing now that in V 17, it makes a cp point on the spline instead. How or what is the process to force a hook instead? Thanks so much William

Last night I spent two hours pushing CPs around in a new Pose, then i saved my model again. Then I noticed I hadn't been working in a Pose window, I had been moving the CPs in the model window! There's no amount of pressing "undo" that would save that situation. Fortunately I always save in incrementally numbered versions with brief descriptions of what was just done so it was easy to go back to the last version of the model before I made that ghastly error. I rarely need to go back to my old versions but about two or three times a year I'll do something spectacularly bad like that and I'm glad they are there.

I have been working with A:M to create motion profiles for animatronics. Successfully I programed the animatronics for some pieces in Las Vegas last year, writing our own app to help translate to our controllers. You can see some of our process here. I am still working on refining this process and I was hoping someone could point me to some documentation of what all the switches are in an .ACT file or a .MDL file so I can better create some of the tools I need. I asked a short while ago about using multiples under one licence and Nancy was kind enough to pint me to where /I could get the windows versions. There was a remaining question about running under two OS's. Finally had a chance to do that but, when I tried to contact support via the main Hash page, ( www.Hash.com ) the screen won't load fully and keeps trying to reload. Is anyone else having this problem ? simon

Hello Hashers- Doing a simple "cookie cut" mapping effect and it is not responding like it should. Instead of clean cutting it has a bizarre transparency effect whereby it chunks up the grid (see photo). I have embedded the simple project if anyone would like to test it. This relates to Tore's post on Scene lengths. Assuming a local variable isn't the cause... Can anyone tell me why this Chor Length defaults to 70? Recommended test: Open Project Crack open Chor (keyframe/dopesheet mode) in PWS Adjust Chor length to 50. Save Reopen I would expect the Chor length to adjust to the longest Chor Action (normal behavior) or stay at 50 (optimal). I can't see why it comes back as 70. If it doesn't open/stay at 70 for you then perhaps there is a local variable stored that is a root cause. Hello all- I was playing around with what I thought was a simple test. I had a red piece of cloth being sucked up into a vortex. Everything worked as predicted (see attached movie). I then introduced a simple flat object into the scene using the Simple_Scatter tool and wondered if those objects would also be sucked up into the vortex.. Have been trying to revamp the model so I could finish the animation. Not sure if its complete yet ( he looks too old ? ) but, saved the iteration and fully installed the 2008 rig, as per the instructions, then tested it with the previous animation, with the following painfull result. This is what it looked like before And these are the same frames but with the new model Can anyone kindly suggest where I should look for the fault ? Thank you for your help. Hey all. I have a design that needs to be printed onto paper. It is a pop up book. But I have never actually printed a template out from A:M. I have an idea as to how to approach it. But I didn't want to waste any time on a method that doesn't get the desired results. Main thing is that I need to print the same physical dimensions as exists on the model template. So if something on the model is say.....3.5 inches on the model, it needs to be 3.5 inches on the physical paper print out. Has anyone tackled a template printout from A:M??

I'm about to do some briefs using two figures on a seesaw ( teeter totter in US ? ) and wondered what the best way might be to constrain them to sit on the plank might be ? Tried constraining them to a bone in the seat, with a translate to but they seemed to move relative to the bone when the board was rotated ?. Now have two nulls, one to each side and the figures translated to those. Are there other methods anyone can suggest ? regards simon

While working away, my new spline creation suddenly started snapping to the grid. I can’t get rid of this behaviour. Editing is fine, it’s just upon creating new control points. it’s making things difficult. Do I have to reinstall AM?

Here's a bit of weirdness on a project resurrected from A:M v7 This project had a path for a camera to travel on but in v18 it had a slightly different shape that was noticeable by the the different camera motion in a final render vs. the v7 render I still have. Upon investigating, i find that the CPs of the path have a couple dozen superfluous sets of bias properties in them. Deleting all of them restored the Path to its proper shape, which is good since i didn't want to send in a bug report about a v7 project.

Question for Rob: While improving the lighting today [at Live Answer Time] for Johns picture, we adjusted a bunch of global ambiance parameters. It seems that the Global Ambiance parameters can be adjusted from various places-, Camera or Choreography or Rendering all have inputs. What is the correct sequence of adjusting the Global Ambiance settings? Which Setting is the most important ....and then do you work your way "down the tree" to make further adjustments? Hi, First I'm on AM V14c which probably won't matter in this case as this will probably be a memory exercise anyway. I've rigged characters in AM 14c using TSM2 before just fine but this time I got an error when I did the rigger. I did the builder, the flipper but when I did the rigger it said "No System Found"??!!?? Anyone?? Retopology is good with the possibility of a bake of texture. This allow to use sculpted objects in AM to create characters and textures. Of course unwrap would be great too. It is clear that it is not easy to work with software like zbrush and 3dcoat when using AM. Because there is no possibility to bake a texture from a props. Xnormal is a software to do this but it's not AM. With the same option we can do all we want in AM. Stop with export and bad UV. That doesn't work. Just retopo and bake

Have been working on a model of a young boy for the next project. Learnt some lessons last time so was cautious this time around, saved regularly in different iterations as progress was made. Installed the 2008 rig up to the point were it said, " set up cp weights and smartskin", so have spent the past few days trying to get that ready for next phase of the rig installation. Had been working on half a model then intended to copy flip attach before going on to finish the rig installation. However, every time I try to CFA it crashes out the program. Sometimes when I reopen it then crashes when I just try to copy before pasting. I have tried it in V15 and V18 w…

Hi everybody, I think everybody knows that and it just recently drove me nuts again... this small little stand for keyboards which break and a totally fine keyboard is just no longer pleasant to be used and you would need to throw it away which is totally wasteful if you ask me...
