Doing the renders for my music video, all with toon lines, and no matter how I crank up the specularity settings I cannot seem to get any kind of specular highlights. Are they mutually exclusive?

The scene isnt complex or involve too much movement, no multiple passes, nor particles. Just an empty room with a single light source, yet I get this error 010. If its taking too much memory 2gigs, im wondering then why it only takes 3 minutes a frame to render. not sure why the program gives terms like exception error when it doesnt describe what the actual issue is.

Hi Freaks! I was wondering how you would rig this chain (see attached image). It's going to be a dancing guy so it will pretty much have to swing around his neck and things like that. Cloth? Newton? bone-chain? All ideas welcome, and thanks in advance for input!!! Elm.

I reinstalled the 2008 rig into my model and went to test it. In the action and the chor windows, the toes go missing even though they are present in the model window. Could anyone kindly tell me what the problem may be ? regards simon Winona_A.mdl

I've spent some time getting the fourth shot of the current short animated. At the beginning I constrained the flowers o the hand of the male character and that held all the way through. I was just going through and setting the pose sliders for the facial features when I noticed that the flowers were no longer constrained to the hand. Checked the settings under properties but they hadn't changed, but the flowers were no longer in the hand. One anomaly I have noticed is that a W value seems to have crept in to the rotate properties ? Not noticed that before? X, Y, Z I now start to understand but W ? Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, how did you fix it ?…

Have been having a number of quirky problems recently with the display of models in the chor. This is the latest one. As you can see in the picture, the model is active in the properties section, but in the view window only the bounding box shows up, not the actual wireframe of the model. If a partial quick render is done of the same view port, the models show in the render, while still being invisible in the view !!! It only seems to happen in this chor, the 4th, the others seem ok. Is there an easy explanation I might be missing? Any help gratefully received. regards simon Ps It had seemed resolved but, still getting problems with wavy splines o…

It has been a while since I've posted any fun stuff I've made with A:M... I use Element3D and C4D more and more these days... but a client wanted this animated globe with photos being stuck to it by pins and thinking how to rig it up in either of those 2 apps gave me 'the fits'. This simply uses 'orient like' and 'translate to' constraints for the photos and pins to get them to rotate and stay in place on the globe as I spin it. All moving elements in A:M... text and post was done in AE. Funny thing on this job... the client- a young woman(not that that matters) did not understand why I needed to spin the globe at all. Can't you get India, China, Austria, Portugal an…

Hello everyone ... Thought I would share something from my Facebook with you guys (Robert suggested that I should also post it here). Just a little backstory, the guy in his underwear was originally created for my website about 20 years ago and he has been with me ever since. He doesn't have a name other than I know him as "Wedgeeguy" (if he turned around then you would know why I call him that). Anywho, just thought I would share my latest creation with all of you. Hope that you enjoy and I hope that 2021 behaves itself. Happy New Year!

Similar to Prismatic Fracture, this movie is composited from two clips made in A:M. The first clip (the color pattern) is the same as was used in Fracture. It is used in four tracks in DaVinci Resolve. The bottom track is the base clip with Composite mode = Normal. Tracks 2, 3, and 4 are this clip image-flipped horizontally, vertically, and horizontally/vertically with Composite mode = Add to achieve a symmetrical image: The second clip (the black and white pattern) uses the same black-edged white square sprite as Fracture, but the emitter is a truncated cone. The resulting image has a large-scale symmetry while having an asymmetrical feel…

Third and perhaps final movie in the Prismatic series, Prismatic Dance is made from one video clip and an audio track. No sprites in this movie. The single model used in the choreography is a simple block shape with 4 spheres. The same light-box color pattern (TGA image sequence) from the other Prismatic movies is decaled onto each of the spheres. The spheres are Boolean cutters. As the spheres move, grow, and shrink over the course of the animation, they transfer the color patterns to the carved out surfaces of the block. Here is a wireframe/shaded birds-eye view of the cho 2 minutes into the animation: Here is a render of the same view sho…

Nostalgia time again. This is the first ever job I did with AM, and the first job I did under the auspices of Artbox, my studio. I was originally approached to do the dancing logo as cell animation, but when they told me that they wanted the Cheesecake Shop Logo and Type reproduced perfectly on each frame, I thought Animation Master. It was version 3 or 4, I had 1 Pentium 133 with a whopping 64 mb of ram and I still have nightmares about the render . But nowhere near the nightmares I would have had doing it by hand. Has anyone else noticed an odd habit of patches only showing their inside surfaces in Shaded Wireframe mode when trying out CP waitings in an Action Window? All is well until you start to move something. Makes it really difficult to check for correct mesh deformation and spotting any poke through if there's some underlying mesh. Doesn't always happen but it dose seem to happen a good 90% of the time for me. Using v16a and 15j+ on Mac 10.6.8, with an i7 & 8GB RAM Patches_In_Action_Windows.mp4

As far as I can tell a sprite particle system that use an image sequence will draw all particles with same frame of the sequence at any one moment no matter how long since a particular particle was born. Is it possible to make each particle start at frame 0 upon its birth?

Every year since 2007 I have been creating a video to hype up our family's annual Carpet Ball tournament. Some of you here may recall me doing my WIP threads every year and im sure everyone was questioning where it was. But probably not I didnt have quite as much time this year to put into it. Next years is going to be far better. I am planning t recreate new models and retire these characters. They have had a good run but its time to make something I am more proud of and would show to potential employers. This year's was just to be more 'epic' and I based the whole video around the song With Great Power by Immediate Music. Very epic movie trailer style music.…

Charles Babbage ("Dr. Phibes" on the forum) noted on Facebook that he used A:M to design the fabric patterns for this "Kirby" acclaimed by one observer to be the "cutest mascot" at PAX2012. Charles also explained that the person inside the mascot navigates via a video camera in the character's mouth. Other Related Links of interest: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41888

Hi! I just thought I'd share a project I've been working on that combines A:M techniques with Final Cut Pro. This was a great opportunity to experiment with Animation Master with an "anything goes" attitude! A very liberating experience but even more liberating to have it completed. -Adam Video: https://youtu.be/iYShjTEmg8k

Recently did this work for Jet's Pizza Facebook page... this is all 4 episodes edited together... had FUN doing this! The story was crudely storyboarded for me, so I wrote none of it. I made HUGE use of the After Effects distortion filter called 'turbulent displacement' in this. Jets COMICsmall.mov

Not to steal any of Sean's thunder if he's waiting to re-present this short film later this month but I happened upon it and see it was released back in April. It continues the story of Jack and his many adventures. xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx6tZjWoJ0c Fun stuff Sean. Keep up the great work!

Hi everbody, as every year there is a new Advent Calendar by us online. The image has been created with A:M and as always you will find funny, a nice or cool commercials there every day: http://advent.3we.de It is written in German, but in short: Rendeers are unhappy and are protesting and Santa needed to be... creative. Best regards *Fuchur* PS: Just click the big button in the middle to get to it... it just says, that YT videos are embedded on the website and data may be transfered to YT because of that.

Some years back, I had fun participating in the 10 Second Club’s contests (well, even was webmaster there for a period). I never won anything, but much better: learned a lot. Today I stumbled upon the small vids on Youtube, some of which were made in Animation Master. Certainly not masterpieces, but fun to watch again. Here are the A:M ones:

What is better than X11 Release 23? X11 Release 24! "X11" was the software that ran Nortel's Big Switch. This is a program open I did at Nortel in 1999 with A:M v7 This was before the "font wizard". A:M could create the outline of a font but you still had to extrude the sides, close off the front and back and create your own bevels if you wanted them. IDL_R24_OpenH.mov

Hey yall! I've had some trouble uploading images to the forum and finally got around to starting my own html page on neocities: yopachi.neocities.org they give you 1gb of free website and it's super fun to make a simple page using LLM as a helper for the code. The site is just one page for now but I'll be adding my worthy splines are as I go. I even made an animated favicon! did you know you can animate favicons?
