For some reason I can't post in the thread where Walter originally posted his question about A:M's licence not being recognised. So... Yes I got that too after installing 18g. All I did to fix it was copy/past my current licence back into A:M again from my v17g version, (or you could copy/past it from any backup you have) and then relaunched A:M. If it's relevant I'm on OSX Mountain Lion still.

Hi guys, this will be another feature in A:M v18 (l). Hope you like it... it is a more specialized one but it is a nice little helper and may suit some of you well. This feature is inspired by a friend of mine (thanks Ralf G.) who uses another software and asked for something like that in Animation:Master. Hope you like it and find it useful too . See you *Fuchur* grid_images.mp4

I have been doing quite a bit of pewter castings and they are antiqued. Curious if I can apply a decal to a prop in 19? Also need to create a texture that can fill in the dents and recesses but keep the tops shiney (pbr) but I don't want to have to use a 3rd party program like 3d Coat to do this. Can this be done in AM? Is there a stock shader floating around that can be close enough? Sorry for the edit, found a better image of base product so you can see how they look.

I get a crash everytime - with fakeaoCPU with ver17 32bit (most recent release), even with a simple chor (1 sphere) Anyone else getting it to work? Is it just me? EDIT: I've added a test project (created in 16b) that crashes in 17. I tried creating project from scratch in 17 - still crashes. fakeao16b.prj

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the "Yeti" A:M CD and the "Oz" CD? It seems they are both V13, is that correct? Can they both be upgraded to the same version? -SB

So I have used V.18 for a long time. On my older Vista system(Never had a problem) But I switched many months ago to using my Windows 10 cpu. Suddenly this week, everytime I render, my computer cuts off randomly. This has begun to repeat over and over. I don't have time to do any R&D. Has anyone else had this issue on Windows 10? or V18?

Hi, Okay...when did you people move from saving mainly the project file to mainly saving the chor file? Why did you do this? What advantages does this have? Is there really 'any' difference besides the .prj and .cho file extensions? What else is there to this? What else, if anything, are you using chor files for? FYI: I have only used saving chor files for large models that exceed what I call the workable patch limit--once you pass a certain patch count (at least in V14) response time becomes unworkable. Cheers, Rusty

Hey Everyone; I know I have said this before but I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. I have one more test for my job in the next few weeks, then a 2 month break. It does not look like work will slow down any time soon but I'm going to they to put more time Into Hash, Inc. Since the break from testing will free up some time. Here is what is on the list now. As it stands now fixing anything not critical on the web site side will be delayed until Hash, Inc. starts the new server move. What comes with the server move: New Store with everything but serial numbers imported AMStils and AMFilms will be moving to IP.Board I have not had time to test the move but it…

A project waiting in the wings is gaining ground but I've ran into a minor glitch that I"d like to see resolved. Specifically, I note that when changing the SVN repository setting to another location the TWO film repository URL gets tacked on to the end of the new one. This is only inside A:M Community and SVN can be run just fine outside of A:M so there is an easy workaround but I'm wondering if there might be something (a cache?) I need to clear in order for the SVN repository location/URL to be properly set? Any guesses or insights? A guess or two from me might be that the setting is stored in the WIndows registry or... A:M is finding the URL in a dif…

Working in V17g, under OSX 10.68 Revising last weeks brief, checking the mesh penetration glitches. It was going well, doing quick regional renders to test position, suddenly, this happened, Since then the render times have gone through the roof. For example a 9 second segment that was taking 2 seconds per frame to render, has gone out to several minutes per frame. Can any one point me to what the problem might be and, most importantly. How to fix it ? regards simon

Trying to keep everything simple I haven't used atx textures before and don't know how to now. Have previously used maps for wall and other surface textures but noticed the atx files today in the installation folder. Tried to import it into the materials folder but it crashed the program. There doesn't seem to be a separate folder for textures so, how do you import them and how are they applied ? simon

I am aware that AM toon render can control the thickness of the line. Can you also control that line so that it is possible to taper it from one end to the other? (see attached graphic which shows a line created in a graphics program and some curtains which were rendered in AM) Thanks for any feedback! Tom

When starting A:M up, the program suddenly stops loading, displaying this message: It just sits there for 20 seconds, then continue and complete loading. I am not sure if this is a new behaviour, but I think so. I then tried opening the community service tab in A:M with the purpose of changing what I thought to be a setting, so A:M would load without trying to connect to community service. I couldn't find any settings there, just the login screen. Then tried to log on, and guess what happened: yes, exactly: it halted for 20 seconds and then came with this message: I am not interested in using community service (from inside A:M anyhow) so ho…

Sorry posting this reply here as I'm unable to make a post in the v18d thread So thanks for the sample model Robert. Closer inspection shows that v18d is NOT randomly flipping normals, but it IS making things see-through?! In the screenshot here of your test model you can clearly see that the yellow pointers are all still facing outward as they should. Note, this screenshot was taken with 'Show back facing ploys' ON, so even if there were any flipped normals the model still should have looked solid. Incidentally whilst trying to get that screenshot A:M crash yet again. v17g is starting to look to me like the most stable Mac version.

The subject of Desired Gamma came up and I was unable to get my software to cooperate at the time, so, I made an attempt at a video explanation of the little I know that I am posting here along with the Projects used and renders. One thing I still don't think I got across in the video is that if you are working with 2.2 gamma images, the gamma correction can get re-applied automatically with each iteration causing the image or portion of image (and colors) to lighten. Anyway, here is the video and Project files. Hopefully, it is helpful. Desired_gamma_testing.mp4 Desired_Gamma_testing.zip

This may sound strange, my apologies if it does but, does anyone have any advice on how to animate a figure on the diagonal? By which I mean, If the direction of travel is perpendicular and in straight lines then it is very straightforward ( pardon the pun ), I have two figures already done but, the third is coming in at an angle to the target and I am having trouble getting the movement working because its not perpendicular to the view angle. I'm sure I've done this before but, the afternoon tea has not dispelled the clouds.. Any advice gratefully received. simon

Hi guys, this is a demonstration of a small but (if you ask me) very powerful new feature in A:M v18k (getting beta tested at the moment): > Set camera to bird view / Set bird view to camera. Hope you like it . Thank you very much for adding it Steffen . See you *Fuchur* PS: Small little addition to the video: You need to be in a perspective bird view (!= orthogonal bird view) to have this feature. This is always the case if you use the turn tool starting in the camera view OR you can just toogle its state to be perspective by pressing "\" / hitting the button in the views toolbar. PPSS: And of course: I am talking about the Turn-Tool, not the…

I'm trying a test on the mix files while waiting on something else. Working in V18 under OSX 10.11.6 Have set up the models to use 50% of underlying colour, they render as a quick render in a model window but, when I try to render them out in a chor, just the alpha channel is there, no lines. Is there a setting I might be missing? Thank you simon

Hello, I am in the process of testing bone stresses with AM. I do fairly empirical tests and it lacks efficiency in some cases because I do not really understand what the constraints correspond to in terms of parent / child links. Is there a list, or a table summarizing the context of action of each constraint? It would be much more efficient for me! thank you in advance

Hi, I screwed up thinking that the word I wanted was 'Quadology' and my proof reader said she could not verify that this word existed and suggested I use Quadrilogy instead, which I did everywhere. Now I find out that this isn't 'really' a word either and that I should have used Tetralogy. Crap! I have a lot of changes to make--almost everything!! Including the animated trailer. Since I have to do this I'm asking anyone who will take the time to watch it again and see if there is anything else I should consider. If you are willing to the trailer is at the link below. Unfortunately, my time is limited so I'll have to pick and choose. Some of the things I'm consi…

I'm running through the additions to v18M and am enjoying what I've seen thus far. It should go without saying that the TIF and PSD format plugins are much welcomed additions. (and for those of you that need to use an earlier subscription version of A:M it works well with those too. I was initially scratching my head about the 'Respect Z Order'/Shaded Mode selection option... it wasn't until I went back and read the changelog again and started experimenting that the lightbulb turned on. The main benefit at present appears to be for use with decals (nice!) but I've already used it to quickly work through images stacks too. I may leave that thing on all the time**. …

I'm trying to simulate the diffuse light from the illuminated sign on the top of my Checker cab with an array of small kliegs. I've worked out a chart of all the aiming angles I need. As I import each light instance as an action object they come in with Rotate X, Y & Z = 0 then I type in my desired angles and the lights snap to those values. But if I change my mind and type in one new value, like Rotate Y, all three rotate values automatically reset to new values. They're obviously not random because the orientation of the light doesn't move so it's like there's a function running in the background that automatically re-calculates the datum for each axis. It's a minor…

Hi! Question 1: It use to be that to do a really clean uninstall of AM you had to search through the registry for "hash" and remove a couple of entries. It seems like Hash has to its credit added the removal of registry entries to its uninstall process. Besides "hash" is there anything else I should search for? Question 2: During the install there are now several options. One is whether or not to install SSE4. What is SSE4 and, if you know, the pros and cons of installing it? Question 3: Related to the above...what would be the pros and cons for installing the Timelog plug-in? Thanks for any information you can give me! Rusty

The function of "Clone CP Weights" is to copy the CP weights from one model to the exactly matching CPs in a target model. Question: What is the purpose of the checkbox for "Reassign target model CPs"? If I uncheck it, no CP weights get changed, which is the same as not using the plugin at all. @yoda64 I did watch the tut by @itsjustme but I didn't see it address that questions.

Having learnt a lesson with the Teddy Bear now trying to CP weight his partner. It is a very long, tedious, involved process. Would it be possible to make a feature request ?I have read a few tutorials on how to do it but may have missed something ( ?) The process appears to be that you select the cp's in muscle mode and then add %values to vary the weighting ? Two factors make it a bit tedious for me, 1. When you select a bone in the dialogue window the same bone does not always show up the selection box below ( see screen shot ), so you then have to scroll through a long list to make sure the correct one is listed. That gets a bit tired after awhile.…

A "Drivers" folder seems to show up under a model in the Objects folder when you change a parameter to something that was external to the model. For example, if you drop a green shiny material on model of a vase, your vase will become green and shiny. If you edit the color of that material in the shortcut that is in the model rather than in the original material in the Materials folder, a Drivers folder will be added to the model that seems to contain that custom change. Or does it? If I delete that Drivers folder, the custom change I made doesn't go away. For further confusion, these drivers sometimes acquire keyframe curves with values changing over time…

I'm trying to refine my workflow a little and am curious... Can we bake Patch Images into the images that result from Baking Surfaces? As far as I can tell they aren't considered part of the surface that gets baked. As they are defined by the patches themselves they'd be especially useful in defining regions for decal images created by the bake. So I'm curious to know know if they actually can or cannot be included in the bake. I'm not seeing a way to accomplish that here. As a workaround there is always the tried and true methodology of a simple screen capture and decal placement. Having patch images in the bake would skip those manual steps for p…

This is just a placemarker and a reminder for me to investigate the TaoA:M exercise(s) that deal with Lipsync. At the core of my exploration is a desire to determine what effect having the complete dialogue as one audio file might have on the experience. The dialogue is: "I've got a secret. Can you keep a secret? Didn't think so." The problem: The dialogue length is set. There is no way (in A:M) to adjust the timing/pacing or to adjust the delivery of the performance for the character in the sequence due to the audio file's fixed length. Questions: Could separating the one audio file into three separate audio files resolve the issue? Is the…

Working in V17g under OSX 10.68 I'm trying to setup some pose sliders to move the fingers in the 2008 rig. I've previously been advised that its not best practice but, for what is presently underway, it works well enough. Managed to get them installed for one character but, the second is proving difficult. When I open the model in amodel window the relevant bones and nulls are visible. If I select the "New Pose" option the finger Bones and nulls disappear and only the finger controller and Hand bone are visible. Can someone kindly point out how to get the bones back to visible ?
