I'm trying to model this guy I got off the net. The helmet was fine, but I'm having difficulty with the clothes....I don't even want to think about the beard! Am I going about the clothes the right way? I just extruded the shape but now I don't know how to stitch in the arms.

Hey all. I finished this T-shirt design for the Genre Evolution Project's research team. The colors and all are much higher definition than we'll need, I'm sure, but this render is a real beaut and will serve as a guide. I was so satisfied with what A:M did in the process that I wanted to post it here. Post-work done in Photoshop and Fireworks. GENRE! 2003-2004 Team Thanks for looking. (If you are interested in the project, the site is: here. I won't plug it here, but suffice to say, we study the humanities by researching pulp science fiction.)

Hi This file is a heavily compressed version of my entry to the April Competition at 10secondclub.com. I missed the deadline due to last minute compression problems. I was taking a 640x320 avi file, (13+ Mb), and attempting to get a 320x240 MPEG-1 file which fell between 1.5Mb and 1.8Mb. In the end I failed. The file shown here has been compressed as follows: 640x480 to 200x180pixels compressed with Sorenson3 at 20%. Audio compressed to 8bit mono using MACE 6:1 The results are not good so I am hoping that one of you wizards out there will be able to offer some advice. What is the best way of creating an MPEG-1 at 320x240 with decent sound and a legible …

It's hot out here at LegoDude's college summer camp, so I made this little fan to keep him cool. Set the movie to loop and you too can stay cool! (Unfortunately for LegoDude, when the conference ends, and he goes on stage to close things down, he's going to be melting in the heat, lose his footing, and get sucked into the fan... sort of a LegoDude meets Mr. Bill ending to a fun debut of LegoDude! ) If anyone wants the project, I'd be happy to share. Need to zip together a package so you'd get the decals (cookie cutter and transparency map). This represents about two hours of work, so things like on/off knob and (d'oh!) electrical cord are left to you to do! …

I want to start making the lipsync poses for my character, but first: How is this wireframe? Are there too many splines? Not enough splines? I am just curious as to how many splines other modelers use for a mouth. Thanks

Good day all! I'm truly not at the level of the rest of the users but "I've screwed my courage to the sticking post" and put up my first model. All I have to do now is figure out how to put some bones on it. Hints, suggestions and comments are very much welcome. The model can be viewed at the following address: http://www.cmcarts.ca/AM.htm thanks, Gaëtan (now if I can just fiugre out how to put in a smilie!?)

I'm sure there will be better than this in the competition but I am pretty happy with him. Well, I hope you like him. Take Care

Right, I couldn't resist posting this critter - it's a long while since I modeled a creature in AM and I am trying out the OSX version of AM. So far so good. This chap will be appearing, once finished, in my Bella Bear stories and replace the original alien that I nicked from the Hash CD. I kinda made him look a bit like Alf since I thought it might be fun to make him distant cousin… Anyway any comments or suggestions welcome. Oh, and please ignore the leery material - I am not using that I just wanted to try the materials under AM for OSX

I'm working on the principle that if you move points around enough, eventually you luck into something that looks like what you are trying to model. I do have the rest of her, but the body looks pretty bad. Now I need to figure out how to decal her. sept0.tga

Greetings! I run a small specialized psychological software company. I was very impressed with AM at a trade show. I need 3D looking animations of "characters" made into sequential "cells" that I can use as animated bmp files. If you are interested in contract work to make such characters, then please contact me at jas@braintrain.com, website: www.braintrain.com or call 804-320-0105 Joseph A. Hiya everybody. Here's a peek at my first A:M character. He's still *very* in-progress. This is just a copy-flip-attach of what I have, so far. Still needs decent eyes, body textures, possibly some fur, as well. What I'd really like to do, is shoot for the sort of look that "Father of the pride" has (if anyone has seen this new NBC show) But so far I havn't found any settings for the fur material that look right. I'm probably going to hold off rigging him until the new Setup Machine 2 comes out, since that should (theoretically) make the job easier. Making this guy has been an uphill battle, of not just coming to terms with the problems of spline …

OK- I'm posting 1 more...then I'll leave you alone for a while until I have something more linear. This is ANOTHER test, and as an afterthought I tagged some sound onto it and it 'sort of' fit. If you can get your QuickTime to loop...loop it and this conversation goes over and over like the ones me and the wife have. I rendered this 10 sec sequence with and without porcelin and was able to frame for frame compare it at D1 resolution. The porceline STAYS. A colleague of mine once said..."sound is half the picture." That was the same guy that said "She's got freckles on her but she's pretty. Hope you enjoy. BigEd.mov

I had to cheat a little and get this animation done. It's a little rougher than I would have liked, but it still works for what it is. I did use the blobbies in the shutoff segment, and would have liked to use them in other places to describe the fuel flow direction. Even better would probably have been using sprites, but I'm still unclear on how to get them (sprites) to behave properly. Thanks to Johnl3d for all his advice and guidance, and to everyone else who gave me tips. http://hre.com/jhvdigital/videoclips/colorsystem.rm Quicktime format; http://hre.com/jhvdigital/videoclips/pumpanimation.mov

Some very dear friends of mine are getting married this Saturday and they asked me to produce a special video to be played during the ceremony. I gladly accepted and decided to offer it as my gift to them. I had previously requested help on this, and thanks to all the assistance, here is the final version. Visit my 3D Animations page and watch the first video "Kori & Jeff" (1.53 MB QuickTime). The stuff before the animation is actually longer, but I cut it down to make a smaller file.

HEY! I don't know why I always have to make my floors reflective. There's a lot of effects in this test...V11hair...V11 dynamic constraints...V11 distortions within distortions...sprite material used as smoke...volumetric klieg lights... Anyways I used a 5X multipass render (at D1 res) and I think the klieg lights glitched-up the reflective floor. Other than take the reflectivity out of the floor, any suggestions? I'll post a full frame from the sequence in the next reply... Warning: Over emphasized female anatomy. takeoff.mov

Thought I'd show how last weeks test ended-up. No matter what I did I had anomolies in the floor from the klieg lights I constrained for headlights si I rendered it without lights and without floor reflections separately and half mixxed the two in AfterEffects. Thought I would put it in the 'showcase' section because I am DONE tweeking on it. This clip shows Miss D. interacting with the car, with V11 hair, dynamics, smoke via streaks which I could NOT get to get any bigger, and distortion/box poses on the car. The animation was rendered at D1 30fps but I have to shrink it to 400X270 12 fps with LOTS of Sorenson Compression to get it under 1 mb. takeoff.mov

New to AM: I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I know this is the only one I can post a pic. Usually after saving and then reopening a project will this glitch occur. Upon reopening, I may see some artifacts or slight changes in alignment that I want to correct (another glitch?) When I try to move the CP's or the CP Bias points, the Bias handles jump way off the working area and can't be brought back in line. I have to shut down, not save and start over. In the attached pic, you see a sphere that I wanted to tweak in a very close view around the bottom where all points converge. When I clicked on a Bias handle, it jumped to the…

Only my second animation ever that wasn't a cycle of some type. Remember I'm just a novice but would love any constructive comment. Its a 1.8mb mpeg-1 file. Due to problems I had animating this model (major problems with the rig with unwanted bone rotation and oddball balance bone shifting) I won't be trying to fix the animation. I might try using the original model (circa 2000) that was working flawlessly in v9.5 next time. I would have hosted it on my own web page but I can't seem to upload anything larger than 650k so my appologies ahead of time for hosting it on tripod. The post title acurately expresses my current mood in attempting to post this animati…

Hello, Here's link to the still image of the chain link gate and dumpsters I modeled for the animation: Gate and Fence jpg 001 Please let me know what you think. There's a model of the victim involved in the animation but I'm having trouble with the basics of layered animation with actions, walk cycles, etc. Something I'll have to practice with training videos and tutorials first. Get used to it, THEN do that in the project for a client, not while working on said project.

hi gang, here is my latest lip synch attempt. this about the 3rd pass. it isn't as lifelike as i want it to be, but it is definitely the closest i have ever come to breathing some life into one of my characters. i guess i am my own worst critic, and i've heard this dialogue so many times that i want to pull my hair out. i love bruce cambell, but i think i have ruined this quote for me....damn. note to self: don't lip synch with something you really like, you will learn to hate it! anyway here it is, let me know what you think!
