Anyone know where I might find any documentation/tutorials on all those cool sounding wizards currently in v19? Have tried just tinkering with them but doesn't seem to do anything. Any help would be appreciated

Finally finished with school. So now I can get back to my real show. I am working on getting a bunch of still images turned into a video. The version of FCPX that I am using is: The directions I am using are: In your FCPX preferences/settings, change the default still frame duration to 1 frame. Import all of your still image files into FCPX. Create a new project and drag all of your still images into the timeline. ‘Select All’ so that every image in the timeline is selected. Right click and select ‘Make Compound Clip’. Use your new compound clip as a video file in any regular project. Line 1 mak…

Trying to figure out how to composite sequences in the timeline (the one that opens to the right of the workspace tree). Need to overlay sequences, change times etc. and can't get anything to do what I want. Have read the tech ref over and over and nothing is helping so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I missed this news back in January... Algorithmic, the company behind Substance Painter and other related tools has apparently been purchased by Adobe. https://www.fxguide.com/quicktakes/adobe-acquires-allegorithmic-substance-joins-creative-cloud/ I'm occasionally thought it'd be nice to have Substance Painter but wasn't interested in the price of admission. Gaining these tools via the Adobe CC subscription that I already have though... hmmmm. Adobe has been trying to move further into the 3D realm and it looks like they are doing just that with this purchase. Related to A:M, the ability to paint even OBJ files wi…

Is there any way to do this with AM? Where the eyes can be rotated, lids blink etc. and still be stretched in the Y axis?

I just received a new computer for my birthday and Christmas. I can try it out for a week and take it back to the store, if I want. I sent in a request for a trial version of A:M 19 to see how the graphics card works on this computer. If you see my name and wonder why I am requesting a trial version after all these years, that's why.

Hi all, while cleaning the attic I stumbled upon these gems. And a manual was actually that...a manual (661 pages!) Right now I'm on a quest to find videotape vol 1. I assume it's about modelling, probably the one I watched most, so hopefully it's not somewhere in a videoplayer at the dump. :-) Last time I used AM was in 2003 or so, but great to see it's still alive and kicking. I can only say it was my way into modelling and animation! Maybe I'll download the trial later today. Cheers and stay safe! Edwin

Hi Folks, I am trying to install Animation Master 19.0 on my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM and an Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB. I can download the software from the HASH Inc. Forum, but when I put in my KEY, I get the error message: Bad RLM_HANDLE error code (-1021) ERROR. ...and I cannot move further. Can anyone help me through this? Thanks, Jabbar Thomas jabbar_t@yahoo.com

A brief history. I bought the subscription back in November of 2020. On December 4th of the same year, my computer died (motherboard, video card, powersupply). The hard drive was undamaged. Anyway, I had the machine repaired. Everything's working the way it should, but I couldn't get AM to load. So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it. Now it's asking for the activation key which I put in and it won't take it. It gives me three tries and at the end says that the key is already in use. It is, by me. I contacted support and got an auto reply to contact Jason Simonds on the forum but I have no idea where he is on here.

Hey Everyone. Great to see you all still splining and all. I'm about to "Re-Subscribe." BIG Thanks to Robcat for e-mailing me back with the new features since I've been away. Was wondering if you guys have a suggestion as to the most stable V.19 version. A while back, I encountered some issues with V.19 and had to go back to 17 and 18 to finish a project.

An article on Forbes about running Widows apps on the new M1 Macs... You Can Finally Run Windows On Your M1-Based Mac, But With A Catch However... Certain games won’t work. Games and apps won't work if they use a version of OpenGL greater than 1.1, or if they rely on "anti-cheat" drivers that haven't been made for Windows 10 ARM-based PCs. Check with your game publisher to see if a game will work. Apps that customize the Windows experience might have problems. This includes some input method editors (IMEs), assistive technologies, and cloud storage apps. The organization that develops the app determine…

So, my old computer died, beyond repair. I still have a subscription for AM. I tried going through the store and there's no option to redownload the program. Who do I need to talk to. There's still at least six months left on my subscription. The down side is that I have to completely re build everything because it's all gone. I learn to back things up, eventually lol. How do I get this updated? If it was as simple as just changing the license, I know how to do that and who to talk to. I'm at a loss. PLEASE HELP

Does anyone know a way to convert this example SWF to a conventional MP4 video file? There are several Hash Tech Talks in SWF format, which can no longer be played in browsers now that Flash is gone. I've tried several converter sites but they all fail in some way. One site I found will intelligibly play the SWF video but doesn't enable any scrubbing of a timeline. We need some way to convert these to regular video.

Here's a great 1923 Hollywood fan magazine feature on the power of the eyes to convey mood. We often think "happy " and "sad" are about the mouth making a smile or frown, but the eyes are really the big players on the face. Eye direction, eyebrows, eyelids and the tilt of the head are doing the work here. Your A:M characters can do this too.

Rodney and I have been learning C++ and now we are looking at MFC with an eye to writing A:M plugins MFC or Microsoft Foundation Class is an addition to C++ that handles standard Windows GUI elements like menus and dialogs and interactions with the main program. Ballistic - will plot a projectile path based on parameters you input... X and Y de…

I've been reading and watching videos for exporting animation from AM to other software I work with MDDs out of preference and also requirements for my small studio We're a Lightwave studio, and the current version is pretty adept at importing FBX from various sources Having read and watched export solutions from @Fuchurand others, I would like to get a bird's eye view clarity on the following questions: 1. Is MDD broken in the current versions of AM? I've seen other users having garbled meshes upon MDD imports into other software It seems like some models get exported with additional point information which is why the MDDs don't match to the mod…

When I click on the link on the hash.com site for the FTP server, ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub, nothing comes up. It appears the ftp server is up and running; I can connect via the command-line. The problem appears to be that the ftp server requires a login and when logging in as "guest," it requires a password. I tried "password" as the password and neither that nor a blank password succeeds at logging in, which is what I think the browser does. I also tried the Edge browser (which I never use) and it didn't work either. -Vance

Found a pretty neat program that creates seamless textures from Spiral Graphics ( www.spiralgraphics.biz ). There is a free program called Wood Workshop that allows you to create seamless wood textures with an almost limitless control over color, texture, pattern, etc. You can create the texture in just about any size you want, then export it to a .jpg, .png, .etc. They also have a program called Genetica 2.5 which allows you to create all sorts of other seamless textures, like brick, marble, cloth, wood, stone, metal and lots of others. The Pro version also allows you to create atmosphere and hair textures. They have a downloadable 30 day demo of Genetica. …

If you visit the Adobe site or attempt to update to the recently released Adobe Reader XI you'll currently get an update to Adobe Reader X instead and if attempting to update via the Reader itself a message that says you are currently up to date. This despite the fact that the Adobe site showing the XI version available for download. Since the XI release has been out since late Sep I can only assume the current buglist is large enough to keep Adobe from promoting/releasing it fully. For those interested the XI release is available at the following location: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatet.../11/11.0.0.html DISCLAIMER: YOU SHOULD READ THROU…

More SIGGRAPH 2012 related postings... This by itself is very cool and interesting but I'm already wondering how the tool can be extended. Rather than take multiple shots of a chrome ball to capture lighting, duffuse, mirroring/reflection, specularity etc. some folk decided to pursue the idea of having one single ball to capture all the sampling needed. http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Research/SSLP/A_Sing...IGGRAPH2012.pdf This has bigger more colorful imagery: http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Research/SSLP/ Now what I'm thinking is how we can use this idea to capture the environment that exists inside a manufactured 3D scene. There are obvious problems with this (…

IMO this is one of the best kept secrets in the animation biz... It's still small enough to be personal and isn't overly commercial as of yet. http://www.ctnanimationexpo.com/ Is there anyone from the A:M Forum planning to attend? I haven't heard that Hash Inc is considering setting up shop but if they are I'd be even more likely to attend. Dates are: November 16th through the 18th. Location: Burbank, California I know some folks that have attended and they thoroughly enjoyed being able to interact with artists and animators of like interests.

Link: Gaming seems to be the real key to making this technology ubiquitous. Here's a link to their site: http://tech.yostengineering.com/3-space-sensor As near as I can tell each sensor sells for about $300. (This is the Bluetooth sensor) I would expect that price to fall pretty fast if it's going to sync in with the gamers. It's just a matter of time before you are walking around inside of A:M while drawing splines and extruding patches in realtime 3D. Here are some of the downloads and documentation.

I haven't even looked at the pricing but the general video and the video player look nice. I think the video player is a trend we'll see more of in the future with the ability to see Onion skinning, alter the frame steps, speed, etc. The frame step feature of the video player almost... almost... almost... breaks down the video into extremes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQJaqpKQtwI http://www.rhinohouse.com/ Ref: Ad/Write up at onanimation.com Note that downloads apparently are NOT included in the subscription to the service and because of that each download appears to cost 99 cents. Not sure but that's what it looked like to me.

Looks like Bluesky just got the greenlight to animate a feature film with Charlie Brown and the gang. I think it was Keith Lango that was involved in a test years ago but folks in charge of 'Peanuts' weren't satisified with the adaption to CG and went with the latest hand drawn shorts instead. Trying to remain relevant it looks like their two years worth of negotiations with Bluesky finally broke through to a feature film deal. http://blueskystudios.com/studio-blog/entr...-press-release/

I thought this was an interesting breakdown of Lord of the Rings characters and their movement through time: http://xkcd.com/657/ Starwars, Jurassic Park, etc. included too. There are a lot of other visual breakdowns of time/space on the site. The reason this appealed to me was that I have at various times roughed out stories in a similar way via A:M splines.

I know a few in the A:M Community will be interested in this webinar as the price is certainly right for jumping into animating with music. Obviously some translation of software specific instruction will have to be negotiated but Jason's instruction always try to be applicable across the board. http://www.jasonryananimation.com/webinars...r-series-4.html From the site's description: The price? If you are already an iAnimate student this and previous webinars are accessible for free as they are included as part of the iAnimate tuition.
