DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.

-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)

If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

I figured I would post this to show, I've working on walks, and doing some jumps, i decided to see if I could make a character just stand there and be believable as opposed to the static frozen pose. I've had AM for a week and half.

Hello, I am looking for a 3D character animation software that can export into Flash which is may main platform. Can AM export the animation as a sequence of images (Lightway can)? I am aware of the AVI export option and Flash capability to import AVI. importing discreet images would be more useful for me. Any comments/suggestions?

Help, I have a simple model that I paid to have created a few years ago... in HASH Animation Master. Now, I am finally ready to do something with it... but am using Cinema 4D. The C4D gurus suggest that if the file were exported as a Polygon File to OBJ, I can probably work with it. Is there anybody reading this that could help me out with that? Thanks! When I am in shaded mode my decals look good. Howeaver when i render the lose their clarity. They go from looking sharp and defined to having a smooth look. I realize this might be good for some images but i am annoyed by it. Is there any way to set the sharpness for the render

I've lathed a jar that's supposed to hold a bunch of marbles one of my characters later pours into a dish. I figured either the rigid-body thing or the Newton plugin would do the job. I went with Newton. Marbles are clones of the 32-patch sphere and are used as Dynamic Sphereobjects [sic]. The jar is "Static with Action." I put 24 marbles in a semi-random vertical stack over the jar and ran the simulation. The marbles all pooled at the bottom of the jar in a likeable fashion. So far, so good. Later in the chor I lifted the jar and, to my horror, the marbles all simply fell through the bottom of the jar as if it wasn't there. This included the marbles that…

The libraries are on the program CD (OZ), not on the HDD I can't drag and drop a primitive from the library panel to the modeling window. I can't drag and drop a primitive from the Library panel to the PWS model that is open, or to any other (new) slot in the PWS. I CAN import a primitive to a new model window. But drag and drop would be easier. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,

Hello everyone! I'm really excited to be finally getting a taste of what Animation Master can do. After learning all the industry standard programs at school and bemoaning that I could not afford to legally own any of them, I'm finding a promising home here to continue my passion for animation with far fewer obstructions and more intuition than say, Maya. That said, I have actually hit a bump that you might be able to help me with. I am doing the A:M tutorials, naturally, and thought it would be logical to preface "The Door is Stuck" (exercise 6) with a walk cycle like I did in the previous exercise. Cool. Shaggy walks up to the door, nonchalantly to set the…

Is it bad to have a model where two patches cut through each other? I'm modelling a Harrier GR7, and the fuselage does not taper to the rear, as with most jets, it’s just a cylinder ending in a hemisphere. The tailfin looks like it could be modelled as a single object with the lower part cutting through the fuselage and forming the small ventral fin, for simplicity and reduced splinage. Is this sort of modelling frowned upon? Are there any rendering considerations I need to take into account? The biggest question, though, is that if I should be modelling the whole thing as a single assembly, is there a quick and dirty way of turning the interface…

I scanned in parts of a book.I'm making a book prop(s). The scans are saved as jpegs, I choose them as my new decal, the bounding box appears, but no image. The image is in the DECAL section. I don't know why. I've done the same process before, and it worked. I scanned the book cover under 200 dpi, is that too big? Ahhhhh!

I'm having trouble getting the right results using the flatten command, and its mostly because of the instructions in the manual. It says "To correctly orient the pivot, click on the Red handle at the end of the Green Axis (to orient the pivot around the X axis) and drag in the direction of the arrow in the image below until the Properties panel shows -90° rotation in the X axis." But the properties panel doesn't tell me anything!

I'm a newb... 100%... even though I bought the software at NAPP in Miami a few years ago. I never did find time to load it and use it. But... I come to ask a question from the experts... Will this software allow me to create 3d textured text animations for use in video production? I was looking at Boris Red and then I remembered buying AM and thought I'd see if it might handle the job. Thanks in advance for your comments, suggestions, insight, etc. Vince

Hi guys! I just got hash Animation master at the San Diego Comic Con. I've installed it and started working with it. I noticed that I must have the CD in the CD drive in order for the program to work. Is this always the case? Can the program not run without it in there? Also I'm wondering if the copy I got at the show is a 1 year subscription or the full program. I had thought I was buying the full program, but after reading the website I'm now unsure. Thank you!

Quick question regarding something I am not understanding. If I have a Choreography with two actors in it, and then create two paths. Say I constrain Actor 1 to path A with a Chor range of 4 seconds, and then I contrain Actor 2 to Path B with a Chor range 15 seconds, somehow Actor 1's contraint to Path A will automatically change the Chor range to 15 seconds as well. My question is how do I keep actor 1 going long Path A for just 4 seconds?? Is there a way to edit the keyframes or something else I am missing?? ANy help would be greatly appriciated... EDIT: or I could just go watch the video tutorial on this. Sorry, I didnt see it earlier.

Hi, I got this program about 2 years ago at a macworld exhibition, when I got home I immediately put the disk in my drive and started playing with it, but I found that it was too complex for me at my age, so a year after that I tried it again, still too complex. But now, after a few months getting used to other 3d programs, I want to try it again, but I am hindered by a very simple thing! Whenever I have a new composition, there are always only 100 frames, and i want to increase that number, and its driving me mad, I know there's a simple solution but I can't find it. Help? Thanks in advance, r4z2 (Hopefully an animator in the making)

Can someone please help? Ive been watching A:M tutorials for past few months, even read the manual online. I now have a new computer running win 7 and brand new A:M. Both 2 days old YAY! Ive used Maya and Bryce for years and dying to get into A:M now. For some reason my render Bounding Box shows solid (or last rendered pic underneath) when i drag a box. This also happens when selecting splines or points. I looked thru tools/options but couldnt find anything. I also tried running A:M in XP mode 32 bit and had same solid bounding box. Can anyone help? Thank you Michael

My question comes from pages 141 & 142 from the guide. I don't really understand what rotating a single CP (the flour sack's top most corners, I'm assuming) is suppose to acheive. Is there a posted example of this? or possibly someone can explain the desired results in a little more detail. I realize muscle motion is an advanced topic, but I want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly before I move on. TIA. John

I've got a very detailed photo-realistic facial mesh that I'm trying to re-fit to a 3ds prop that's a 3D scan of an actual person, I then have high resolution flat lighting orthogonal photos that I'll be using as decals... The eyes, nose, mouth, and ears are obvious things to group and move around to match their positions on the actual face, so I've made groups for these and the surrounding patches. Later on the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears will have to be tweaked, adjusted, and (possibly) remodeled (a bit) to closely match the real person - but I'm just wanting to get them into the right relative positions to start. The problem I'm running into is that as I move…

I found as I was doing Exercise #5, having the rabbit walk on a path, that as I was making the walk cycle, his feet kept sinking below the ground line. I know this is because A:M defaults to using a curved, flowy arc between keyframes instead of the most direct route. Usually this is fine. How do I turn this off so I don't have to key every frame to keep my foot on the ground?

Alright so anyways, on the characters, when im trying to move their bones, or pose em, on choreography, there is this huge bone at their feet getting in the way. I saw it a while ago, then didnt see it, and now im seeing it again. Heres a picture of it do you see that large black bone right at his feet, it is really blocking the view from bottom view, side views, top view, birds eye, and even camera view. and if i accidentally click on it, it rotates my whole character. Can anyone lend me a hand?

Hello. below is a question I emailed to Hash. Thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has the answer. Hello. I purchased a copy of Animation Master about 6 years ago at a comic book convention. The price of your software attracted me and the demonstration at the convention displayed it's user friendliness. I later learned that I needed the CD Rom to unlock the program each time I wanted to work on it. So I hesitated installing it on any computer fearing I would loose the disk. Needing the CD Rom in hand to unlock the program is very impractical for me. Does Hash offer a new version of Animation Master that does no…

In addition, are there any forum locations or links on how to output alpha channels and how to use the compositing feature I have heard is included? I've been modeling a face using the Cooper face tutorial (which has been very helpful, by the way) over the last few days, however, for some reason my project file won't open today. A:M starts up as always, but right in the middle of loading the project, an error box reading "Error in model file, spline attachement. anchor= 1439 cp= 1318 Atempting to continue." (I didn't misspell those works, A:M actually did ) appears. I click OK but suddenly the program crashes. Anyone know of any means to save a model file embedded in the project file so I can save my work, or at least part of it? Thanks a ton!
