-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.
-No flames of any kind.
-No Off Topic posts. (Posts in the Off Topics section should be related to A:M in some form or fashion or benefit the A:M community as a whole).

-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)
-No very general questions like: "how do I make a good 3D model" make your questions as complete and concise as possible.
If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

Last time I tried (this isn't a real example I'm talking about) I had issues going from one action to the next. The scenerio is a character walks up to something, and then grabs it, much like in the door-opening tutorial. But in that tutorial I used no walk cycle, and animated each step one at a time. In a larger setting it seems it's harder to control precision movements from the choreography mode, largely because my character is no longer perfectly centered on axis, and the keypad no longer gives me clean perspectives to adjust the position from. So I've been exploring walk-cycles and pre-constructed actions. My problem was that once the walk cycle ends, it…

I'm working on a short that takes place in mostly one place. For that giant bulk where the scene is set, and most things won't be moving, would you make it all one choreography file, or would you arrange choreography on a shot-by-shot basis? My first sequence I began by going shot-by-shot, but by the end there were segments of action that were continuous, so it made more sense to render the various perspectives out of the same choreography file. I can imagine a variety of perks to keeping one file (not pulling out all your props for each new shot), but I also feel like there are advantages to having a clean slate for each shot (not confined to realistic object …

I found photos of the exact desert I want represented in my animation, and I feel humbled by the number of subtle shrubs, hills, bluffs, and so on that make the desert what it is. Especially since it is only going to be in the background and does not move, I don't see the sense in modeling all of this from scratch. So now I'm toying with the logistics of animating my A:M components to be most compatible with my photoshopped and then 3-D composited (probably in After Effects) sort of environment. I understand there's a way to render animations with an alpha channel, although I don't know how. I guess that's question number one. Another question is "how to …

When I went through TAO:AM, I know there were some moments that I was asked to do things that just didn't seem to be in my software. Easing is a great example, and since I finally have a reason I want to ease, I'm going to ask about it. So I locate the ease in the PW. I double-click it. Isn't it supposed to expand? For me, the "ease" looks like a bone's keyframe line or anything else's, but I can't find anywhere to edit it. In the Properties window, it lists only the title, "Ease*" and a single button which changes whether the waveform is curvey, sharply angled, or another one. I can't figure out how to edit ease functions on my computer, although I can…

ok this would be easyer to explain to some one who has played the game "Sword of the stars" one of the playable races called the "liir" ( or as i like to call "Space fishy") anyways there ships have a unique way of moving in such that they teleport forward bit by bit hundereds of times a minute giving a flickering effect , i was woundering if there is a way to make a model flicker in and out like that with out having to set its transperancey every .5 of a frame.

Hey everyone. A friend just let me borrow his A:M CD and I'm diving right into the exercises along with the book. I was working on exercise 5 "Take A Walk" where you make the rabbit walk along a path. And for some reason, the path has a decline in it. I have no idea how to make it level. In the final rendered movie, the rabbit appears to gradually sink into the ground, like he is walking through a swamp. Below is an attachment to screenshots. Any answers how to fix this would be much appreciated. THANKS!

Hi all, I just brought A.M. and it seems that the tech. pdf file, seems to say that version 15 supports normal and displacement maps. Is this true or do you still need a plug-in for it. Anyway I got my brain awash in learning this new software. Thanks for any answers in advance.

hey all, I was having a problem exporting models to 3ds including textures, but finally i managed to do it successfully. The problem I'm facing now is that i want to pack all the decals used in separate jpg file into one image and then export the model with its pack textures so i can load it successfully because when i export my model, only one decal is used and the other are ignored, so exporting a solo texture for all the model will solve the issue. So is there a way to pack the texture in only one image. I've used the generate bitmap but it was unsuccessful. can someone help?

Usually when applying particle hair i assign groups of patches for the hair to go on the head. But with this one model, it applies the hair underneath the head (it puts the hair on the inside and not on the top of the scalp ). i tried even assigning it one patch at a time and it still didn't work. I went to the grooming mode and tried to brush it to the top... no success there either. Is there anyway I can stop the hair system from applying the hair to the underside of the scalp? (it's very annoying considering i can't model hair yet). Maybe i should just model hair (if you guys recommend it, then i'll have another topic post) -hisako

What is the official "CREATE" button after making a new pose? I'm making sliders for different facial expression elements (eyebrows raised, etc.) but after carefully putting all the teeth in place for a "mouth agape" pose, I closed the window, and when I started working on another pose, the last new pose slider no longer had any effect! Is there an official "save" function for a pose you're working on? I'm trying out renaming right now. I remember the TAO:AM tutorials always left renaming the pose for the last action. Hopefully that's significant.

After some weeks I wanted to restart my exercise on "Taking A Walk" and I saw to my surprise I couldn't add frames to my Act folder? The numbers just run on, but as I changes the bones structure, the arrow doe'sn't appear. After that, when I go back to the first frame, the whole animation freezes in the last frame. I don't know what happened, the last act folders have nothing wrong and show the good framenumber. But for some strange reason I can't edit new frames. I reïnstalled the programm, but the problem isn't solved. Could it be new software I have installed recently?

Hello All- If you view the attached picture you will see that the goal is to create a rigging whereby a Pose Slider can cause a larger tube to cover up a slender hose over time. I tried rigging the larger tube with a simple parent child boning situation however, because of the curve in the line, when the first parent bone is scaled down, it causes all of the children to collapse vertically and so the larger tube does not adhere to the curve of the slender hose. I thought of constraining to a path but was hoping that it could all be done with a simple Pose slider. Any suggestions are appreciated!! Thanks! Tom

Greetings, I'm considering purchasing A:M, and I merely need to know if the $79.00 A:M Subscription is required in order to install and use A:M? Are there any other plug-ins that I will need to purchase in order for A:M function at its full capability? I work with Zbrush 3. Does A:M allow for the import of 3ds., Collada, or obj. files for rigging? Thanks, Terry

This is my first attempt at creating a character. So he is not so good yet. My splinemanship needs improving but I have no dead ends nor do I have more than 4 intersecting splines. I kinda like his look though. I started with the stock rabbit character and redid the body a bit. and completely made the head from scratch. I am welcoming all crits and advice. His body is fully rigged as the rabbit was, but I still need to rig his head, eyes, and mouth. I only posted this so that I could get advice and crits. So please hit me hard. This is a learning experience.

All I'm trying to do is to have a ball rotate 360 degrees on the Y axis. If you look at it from the top, what happens is it goes counter clockwise to 180 degrees then goes back to zero clockwise. What I used to do was just set the rotation to 359 degrees and then it would rotate once. What do I have to do in AM? I know I'm missing something simple. Thanks

When I model, I never use the bias - I always fill out with splines. I am sure that I should be using the bias handles, but I always seem to get creases instead of the nice curves I am looking for. Do "real" modellers always use bias to get definition? What's the secret to stopping that little handle from slipping out of control all the time? Is the secret to create the mesh as far as possible and only then tweak?

Hello, I am looking into different 3d animation programs and found out about Animation Master. I am mainly interested in animating realistic people, like the kind that Poser and Daz3d can do. But A.M. seems to be easier to use so that's why I'm considering it. I've looked at the A.M. examples and have read some forum messages but I'm not quite sure if A.M. is best for what I need so I thought I'd ask here. Specifically, I read that importing Poser/Daz3d human models into A.M. is not wise, but how hard is it to build a "person" from scratch in A.M.? Do A.M. humans look as good as Poser/Daz3D humans? I saw the talking male head in A.M. and that was pretty imp…
