This will not effect any thing with Hash, Inc. really but we have a new NAS for our back up systems. We are now moving the data to there(form older machines with less stable raids). We are using 4 of the 6 bays now but can add 5 more bays at any time. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155231122220694 Sequence 01.mp4

So there is something wrong with our camera. I ordered a new one today. But the one we took only took pictures right when the conditions were prefect(no motion, good light, more camera words). But the next show should be better. Sorry again. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155403293465694.1073741833.211213795693&type=1 More here. https://www.facebook.com/animationmaster And the video: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155394388925694

Someone, maybe John Bigboote? recently posted an animation he had done with a waving flag, and as I recall, posted the .prj that could be reused with a new flag decal. Does that ring a bell? I poked around but couldn't find it.

Some soft body effects can be done with Simcloth. PRJ: SpringCloth005 SIMMED.prj Cloth set to "Springs" and suitable stiffness will try to return to its original shape after being deformed. The outer edge of the grid is an Attach Group, to prevent the cloth from being knocked away. @ivanbryan82

My setup is simple. I have a small klieg spot pointed at the top of a vertical cylinder. Beyond the cylinder is a small flat screen with its translucent attribute = 50%. When the camera is to the right of the cylinder and views the screen you can see both the shape of the spot and the cylinder's shadow being cast on it. The same is true when the camera is to the left of the cylinder and viewing the other side of the screen but these shadows are now being transmitted through the translucent screen. This short video shows a 9 pass progressive screen render as you view the screen from the right and then from the left. AM_translucent_glitch_renders.…

Right now I am working quite a lot with snap to surface, because i am recreating one of my bigger polygon modells. I found some minor problems : Snap also reacts to hidden geometry. That should not happen. Snap has a tendency to snap to geometry on the other side of the model. The bluprint modell as well as to the spline geometry. In case of the blueprint it should be not so hard to fix that by checking the orientation of the surrounding normals. In case of the spline geometry i dont know ... Maybe it is posssible to look in these issues (at least its issues to me). Regards Heiner

I appreciate that it is possible to control a light in a chor using the properties in the PWS and thats the way I've done it before. I wondered if it was possible to control those same properties, such as intensity, cone angle, fall of and so on, using pose sliders ? I tried in the actions section but it was not possible to select the lights, or the camera to try to make the poses. Its not a problem, I just thought it might animating them easier in the chor? regards simon

Hello I am very new to this my mom was Kat. I saw the messages left on her legacy page thank you for that. I have all her computers and work I would love to honor her work and some how finish it for her. Needless to say I have very little knowledge about how her very system work and have been nervous about losing any of her info. I am an ultrasonographer and work with 3-4D scans of the body but that's about as far as it goes my mom tried to show me some stuff and I know how she wants "just. Wooden sword" to end, until now I wasn't sure whom I could reach out to if any of you have some free time or wish to help me out please email me at. Jamie.brunell@aol.com again thank …

I've never tried a "Spring System" before! They were introduced as part of the previous cloth system. Although that scheme is gone, the tools for making springs are still there. Unfortunately, the essential "bone to spring" constraint seems not to survive a save and reload. That will be a bug to report.

A new release (v18.0b) was posted so go get it! Latest Information Before you install a new release there are some things to consider: - Are you in the middle of a production? - Are you under a deadline? - Are your settings perfect and you don't wish to see them change? Consider these and other factors carefully before installing new software and when in doubt... login to the A:M Forum and ask questions. That's why we are here. Rather than post to the squeekly clean notification of the v18.0b release I thought I'd start a topic here to capture thoughts on the current release. But first, thanks for this latest update. I…

This is in anticipation of next brief, so not urgent but,I was thinking of using the theme of a swing in a child's playground and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the best way to rig the swing? I was thinking about a kinematic or dynamic constraint for the rope but is there a more efficient way ? Any help gratefully received. regards simon

Hi, This is very strange! On my notebook (btw, I don't have this problem on my desktop) if for example I hit 't' for turn, the icon comes 'on', the mouse cursor changes correctly but turn doesn't work. If I select the turn icon, it works. Same with other tools. Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas on how I might fix this or what I might try or how I might trouble shoot this? Thanks! Rusty

OK, I have a path (a spline with 3 CP's) I have constrained my Camera to the path (Path Constraint) and I have also contrained the camera to aim at a null. Camera jumps to the path and travels along it BUT only travels 1/2 between the first and second CP (100% enforcement at chor end) BUT it also behaves like it is pointing at the null as if it has travelled the full length of the path. Obviously I am missing something here... Partially solved. Chor length was set too long. Edit - Fixed by deleting the path and camera constraints then doing it again.... Not sure what went wrong but it's working now.... Cheers

I am receiving a "Wrong Host for License" message when I attempt to open A:M on my Windows machine. I purchased the license earlier this year (2023) and after some confusion was able to register the license, but now it seems to be no longer linked to this machine. I have not installed it on another computer. Please advise.

I have a laptop with an Optimus chipset, that can switch back and forth between an integrated GPU and a Quadro 2000. I have noticed that there are some problems when scrubbing through a timeline, it seems like it is dropping frames (Robcat knows what I'm talking about). Is this a known issue with integrated graphics? Or maybe it is something with the way optimus switches between the integrated GPU and the discrete GPU. I hate to completely disable the integrated GPU, it will kill my battery life. Is anyone else out there experiencing problems with integrated GPUs on laptops?

Hi, For reasons I can't figure out after days of struggling, a project created and originally rendered in V14g looks way different when rendered in the latest AM version and I just need to change a few seconds of the scene and insert it but it must look the same as the existing video. I should have had a copy of V14c but I must have lost it when I lost a disk a year ago. I need to find a copy of AM V14g to install to render this scene. I still have the dongle so that won't be a problem. Can anyone help. Thanks, Rusty PS: I looked on the ftp site...if it's there I can't find it.

Here is a screen capture of the status bars of two instances of A:M They are both running the same cloth simulation with the same settings. The lower left one highlighted in green was started first. The upper right, in yellow, was started second and quite a bit later. The first instance (green) is bogged down in absurdly high numbers of substeps for each frame. The second instance (yellow) is sailing through with far smaller substeps needed for each frame and getting done faster. Same computer, same project, same settings.

Here's a mostly undocumented feature in v17 that will be primarily of use to folks that login to the A:M Community. It can be useful for schools and small studios who want to deliver custom content and information into the A:M Community tabs. The Support tab in the A:M Community can be replaced simply by dropping an html file named 'Support.html' into the root folder where A:M was installed. For instance, if A:M installed to C:\Program Files\Hash Inc\v17 any html file named 'Support.html' found there will show up in the Support tab instead of the default support page. Fuchur designed a beautiful page to illustrate the possibilities with customizating the supp…

Can someone confirm that Sweeper is working for them in v17a? It isn't sweeping as desired here. It's probably a stray setting but I believe I've tested everything and still don't get a standard sweep. It appears to be lathing instead of sweeping. Edit: Isn't it always the case... doesn't work until you post to the forum and then... BAM! It's working fine. False alarm. Not sure what I was doing on this end but all appears to be working now.

I'm working on my very first human walk cycle. (My hat's off to anyone who gets a believable cycle without days (weeks?!) worth of tweaking.) I have a vague memory that there used to be switch that compensated for the fact that the first and last frames of the cycle are identical. I don't remember what its name was and can't find a reference to anything like it. Is this still a thing?

The "Limit Max Drawing Time" option doesn't seem to work as intended in current versions of A:M but back in the days of slow computers and slow graphics cards this is what it looked like: LimitMaxDrawing_time_demo.mov In current versions of A:M, turn "Limit Max Drawing Time" OFF.

This image won't make much sense to anyone but I want to post it to remind me to delve into this area further. What it represents is a rapid workflow that didn't exist before v18 (the process could be done but not in its current form). The basic concept is this: Phase 1 Modeling - Create a simple shape/object (in this case a simple can) - Create a new Action of 5 or 6 frames in length (the number of frames really depends on what you want to produce. In this case I wanted to place a few cans in psuedo random fashion on/near an imaginary ground plane) - Turn Onion Skinning on (it's best to add this to your toolbar which you can do in v18... adjust the oni…

Hi guys, I don't know exactly where we're supposed to post feature requests so I'll post it here and if it's wrong I'm sure Rodney can move it and I apologize in advance if this is the case. Anyway I've been messing about with cloth a lot recently on one of my models and testing it can be a very lengthy process. Often a few frames in if something isn't set up properly the cloth with go nuts but continue to simulate. At this point you can either wait for it to finish in a jumbled mess (or reach a point where it cannot solve the simulation) or force close A:M altogether and reload. So the feature I'm suggesting is an 'Abort simulation' option. Much like you c…

Rob had come up with a cool way to make clouds very realistically tumble in the sky the way real clouds do. My question is, is it possible to create an animation whereby realistic looking clouds take the shape of something recognizable (like the profile of an animal.. a horse? ) and then tumble back into a wispy shape.... I myself am unaware how the clouds would be able to take the necessary shape but maybe someone else does? Tom

Hello- I was playing around with hair and decided that because of the complexity of the final model, I would create the hair separately as another "object" and then copy, paste it onto the final model when the hair was groomed perfect. That seemed to work OK when the Hair was a "material" that was applied to model "patches" however, when I tried the same thing using hair on a SINGLE spline with a "Shag emitter" material applied it only copied the spline and NOT the hair "Shag emitter" with it. Has anyone else been able to copy, paste a SINGLE spline with a shag emitter applied, from one model window to another successfully? The benefits would seem to b…

Thought I'd have a try at some basic exercises and trying to get a ball rolling properly. In preparation for the idea, pose sliders were used for the rotation and spins. However this was not one of my better ideas ! Does anyone have good advice as to how to achieve it ? The ball is setup with a single bone for the mesh and that controls the rotation and spin and the distance with the model bone ( hope that makes sense ?) Might there be a better way ? regards simon

something weird happened. i was working in after effects cs6 while a:m v16 ran in the background. somehow my graphics card did some weird stuff, my desktop-image was gone for a few seconds for instance, and the computer got slow... i forced quit on after effects, then regularly shut down a:m and restarted the computer. after that the project workspace in a:m was gone. and i can´t get it to show up any more. but only in v16. in v15, v17, v18, everything was still there like it should be. i deleted my v16 version and reinstalled it, but STILL no project workspace. how can that be???? i´m on a mac, OS 10.68 btw. i´d very much like to get v16 running again, it´…

Hi there, since i do like Raf Anzovins rig so much, and since I can not use TSM with my AM, and while I do not like to go always back and forth between two versions of AM, I thougt it might be a good idea to set up a rigg Anzovin style for the current AM 64 Bit version and use that. I know that Raf wrote a tutorial on his way of rigging loooong time ago. That tutorial was called "them Bones" or something, and in it, Raf explained in much detail how he rigged his yellow dog character. If anybody knows where I may get that tutorial or still has it somewhere and would like to share, I would be very happy! Thank you already, best regards …

Late night thinking here so bear with me... The term 'best method' is relative here but I'm looking to find a good way to combine a whole lot of Project files (hundreds?) into one single Project file. There are some difficulties in this. One of the primary obstacles: Same name assets (i.e. materials named material1 in more one project etc.) Those may have to be dealt with on a case by case basis. One method that works fairly well: Embed everything in the Project and then save as a Choreography Do this for each Project Import all the Chors into one Project (I tested this with good results but I believe an important step will be to rename all assets before exporting t…

I have a suggestion for making the grid line display more useful (IMHO) if Steffen can manage it. Here is a typical grid setup for me; grid lines every 1/16" with a highlight line at each inch. Another typical grid for me is lines every inch with a highlight every foot. If I zoom out from this screen mag, at some point AM decides that the smaller grid squares can't be resolved on my monitor and whole grid is turned off. It would be useful if only the small grid was turned off while the highlighted lines remained. If you continue to zoom out, eventually the large grid also turns off.
