Still plugging away at ska dance project when time allows. Presently redoing the head in the light of the example David posted a few weeks back. Have encountered a strange problem though. It still needs lots of tweeks and readjustments but, the model doesn't want to acept the surface colour properties assigned to it? For example, the lips have an RGB setting of 208.180.160 assigned to the group but it doesn't show up in shaded mode or quick render. Can anyone kindly suggest the problem and possible soution ? simon OSX 10.68 V17g DH 001.mdl

This is my last casino xmas card because I am going to retire in a couple of days. Partly drawn and partly maded in A.M.. I hope to be able to spend more time to A.M. and drawing in general in the near future. I wish you all a fantastic and healthy 2015 ! Marc.

Have been trying to revamp the model so I could finish the animation. Not sure if its complete yet ( he looks too old ? ) but, saved the iteration and fully installed the 2008 rig, as per the instructions, then tested it with the previous animation, with the following painfull result. This is what it looked like before And these are the same frames but with the new model Can anyone kindly suggest where I should look for the fault ? Thank you for your help. Hello, So a problem with with one of our scripts was filling a folder with so many files that our server could not list it. The problem has been fixed but failed remove commands are really loading the server at this time. Apaches(runs the webpage) seams to be running fine but the proftpd(runs the ftp site) seams to be really slow and sending commands to the server is really slow. So tonight about 10pm pst I'm going to restart the server. It needed to be restarted any ways because of updates. The restart should be short but like always sometime updates can take bit of time I will post when the server has restart and back online. If anything degrades anymore though …

V17g OSX Having some trouble setting up the lighting for a project. This is the shot with one light on This is the shot with a different light on This is the same shot withboth lights on at the same time Could anyone, kindly point out what the problem might be caused by ? I am trying to set it up so each character is followed by a spot light as they move apart. They will then move back together, reverting to a different light as they do. simon Update. the above were using Toon render. When TR is turned off, both lights are visible ?

Late night thinking here so bear with me... The term 'best method' is relative here but I'm looking to find a good way to combine a whole lot of Project files (hundreds?) into one single Project file. There are some difficulties in this. One of the primary obstacles: Same name assets (i.e. materials named material1 in more one project etc.) Those may have to be dealt with on a case by case basis. One method that works fairly well: Embed everything in the Project and then save as a Choreography Do this for each Project Import all the Chors into one Project (I tested this with good results but I believe an important step will be to rename all assets before exporting t…

I think I have asked about this before but, couldn't find it on a forum search (?) Is it possible to use a spot light to project an image sequence, if so could someone kindly point me to an explanation of how to do it ? Continuing down my road of memories while I pack for the big move.... One of the first "Third Party" training books for A:M... And the Pro Series Videos, for all your learning needs... If I come across anything else I'll post some pics up. I think I might still have the boxes from when I first purchased Martin Hash's 3D Animation Pro (before combining the "consumer" and "pro" versions of the software using just the name Animation:Master, which was the name for the "pro" version originally).

I've added light sources to the headlights of a car so it can do some night driving. They work well on most of the scene but don't show up on a building that has a light list. Typically to fix this I'd drag the chor instance of the light into the building's light list. But since the light is a bone within the car it doesn't have a chor instance to drag. Anyone know of a work around? Thanks.

Here's a bit of weirdness on a project resurrected from A:M v7 This project had a path for a camera to travel on but in v18 it had a slightly different shape that was noticeable by the the different camera motion in a final render vs. the v7 render I still have. Upon investigating, i find that the CPs of the path have a couple dozen superfluous sets of bias properties in them. Deleting all of them restored the Path to its proper shape, which is good since i didn't want to send in a bug report about a v7 project.

Having a spot of bother with V17g under OSX 10.85 Several things really. If I do a test render, I get a little window offering up a composite. Must have turned something on by mistake, but don't know what ? That was irritating before but, now its giving me the composite window but not rendering the file requested. I changed the scene slightly, did a render to jpg, that doesn't appear where it was supposed to ( desktop ) and the composite window appears with the scene as it was, including the camera effects turned off in the render window ( apply camera effects to render ) ? Working in V15, OSX 10.68 I'm trying to help a textiles student on the course I'm doing. She has some very elaborate designs which I decaled onto a very simple planar model of the 4metres x 2metres x 2 metres space. Her designs are 50cm by 50 cm, so I applied them once, and asked it to repeat them across the surface seamlessly. Unfortunately it came out with this effect. Rather than repeating them laterally and vertically it mirrored them symetrically. Is there a way around this or would I have to apply them all singley as separate stamps ? Any help gratefully received Simon I did a test with a simpler decal. G Test project.prj

This thread began here ( https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48030&hl= ) but I didn't want to hijack Marcos' topic. I was complaining about the a lock mode screen render freezing up with the Win10 busy icon spinning uselessly in front of me with no way to interrupt the process. Gerald suggested; Not in my case, other than waiting for the "non-render" to finish it can only be interrupted by killing A:M in the Task Manager. This behaviour started with v18 and seems to be related to the new feature of storing the screen image of a high patch count model into a memory buffer. I have been doing quite a bit of pewter castings and they are antiqued. Curious if I can apply a decal to a prop in 19? Also need to create a texture that can fill in the dents and recesses but keep the tops shiney (pbr) but I don't want to have to use a 3rd party program like 3d Coat to do this. Can this be done in AM? Is there a stock shader floating around that can be close enough? Sorry for the edit, found a better image of base product so you can see how they look.

I'm trying to refresh my memory. I know that if we select a channel we have the option (via Right Click) to 'Reduce' keyframes. This however isn't practical when there are a whole lot of channels to reduce. I will guess the best way to proceed might be to Bake Action and then increase the Tolerance setting. Is that correct or am I wondering off in the wrong direction?

I'm adding this topic because I'm sure to forget exploring it further... Filters are very useful for quickly finding resources in the Project Workspace (PWS). Also very useful is that we can save those Filters in the Project File. Inside the file itself (the text of the file that is) filters appear as in the following: Name=Filter for Models Model At least initially the order of the list is by order of how the resource is opened in the file so it can be handy to have some filters open as assets are added into a Project. I have a memory (quite possibly faulty ) of seeing an option for setting the colour of toon lines as a % of the underlying colour, but can't seem to find it. I can find the option to colour the lines and so can set it to the diffuse values but not the %. Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction, or the memory error ? I wondered if, using a % the colour of the line would vary as the area moved in and out of shadow. This is such a basic thing I wonder if there's a particular reason that it can't be done... We can scale and translate Rotoscopes, but we can't rotate them. This would come in very handy when you have rotos that aren't oriented correctly in an image. Is there an in-app workaround that I just don't know about? Is this something that could be implemented easily?

I'm animating the last four seconds of the cake ingredients. The present intention is for them to jump up and bump into each other over the mixing bowl, then drop back down after emptying some of their contents into the bowl. I hope to hand draw the contents coming out into the bowl but unsure how to empty the bags? Initial thoughts are to use muscle mode to reduce the mass of the model so it gets smaller as the stuff comes out. Would it be better to build a system of pose sliders to do that, or perhaps to do it on the fly, as they collide and return to the worktop ? any hints gratefufully received. thamk you simon

Goodday all. I have downloaded 19g and netrender is giving error message. I have loaded the correct project, chor, camera, output location, etc into netrender. As soon as the render process starts a error appears. The error message says files (.act .mdl) are missing for my project. Netrender is searching in the c:\Program File\Hash inc\v19\Data\Material\..... for action and model files for my project. I have not saved my act and mdl file in that location. Why is netrender searching for it in that location. The act and mdl files for my project is saved in my 'document' folder. How do I tell netrender to look in my document folder? When…

This has happened before but I worked around it. If possible, I'd like to avoid it happening again. I animated my flour dancing. When it came to editing it to avoid mesh penetration, found that, in the choreography, there were two sets of keyframes to adjust. If you are not using A:M's automatic back up feature you are missing out on a huge convenience. There have been many times when I've made a mistake that was too many steps and too many window changes to back out of with Undo. Having the last hour of of my work archived in five minute increments and being able to go back and find the last version before I made the mistake has saved a lot of rework.

I have no experience of rigging so, when I adapted a model from a DVD some time ago, went with the rig installed I've insterted an extra bone since then ( for the lower torso, but thats not giving problems). Have lined up the feet and the legs in the model window but, when animated in an action window a twist or distortion appears in the ankles areas. Can anyone explain this? This model has drop-on Poses made for common hand poses like fist, rest, hyper-extended... I made the Poses for the right hand then copy-paste mirrored them to another Pose to make the left-hand version. I've very lax in loading the latest versions and have been using 19.0e since it came out. I just installed 19.0j and upon starting AM got the error message: "Unable to load plugin" (followed by a sequential list of all the .atx and .trb files I bought from EnhanceAM) "The specified procedure could not be found". I made sure this version was looking in the correct folder. I loaded v19.0i and got the same result. I don't have ver.g or ver.h but ver.f had no problem loading them. Do I need to supply a sample EAM .atx and .trb file to determine what broke?

Hello Hashers- I had an idea of leaves being emitted as sprites and I wanted those leaves to swirl in a curlicue past the camera. I created a curlicue model as a guide for the sprites to follow and made it 80% transparent so I could see if it was working, and if it did work, I would make the guide 100% transparent for the final render. I made the sprites react to collisions and thought I set everything properly. I even had an animated force fanning the sprites inside the tunnel. Many times over the years I have added some constraints in a Pose, closed the Pose window and then... they were gone! Now i have found a repeatable set of steps that makes this happen and a work-around to avoid the loss. Question for Rob: While improving the lighting today [at Live Answer Time] for Johns picture, we adjusted a bunch of global ambiance parameters. It seems that the Global Ambiance parameters can be adjusted from various places-, Camera or Choreography or Rendering all have inputs. What is the correct sequence of adjusting the Global Ambiance settings? Which Setting is the most important ....and then do you work your way "down the tree" to make further adjustments? I can't say how long these options have been around but I noticed that Netrender has two checkboxes. Enable OpenMP for slaves Enable GPU processing for slaves Currently my CPU has four physical cores so I typically run three of them in Netrender and leave the fourth to run A:M. What would enabling OpenMP bring to the party? Windows 11's Trusted Platform Module spec. is giving me an excuse to replace my 11 year old hardware. What GPU specs. should I shop for to take advantage of GPU processing? Thanks.

Here is a screen capture of the status bars of two instances of A:M They are both running the same cloth simulation with the same settings. The lower left one highlighted in green was started first. The upper right, in yellow, was started second and quite a bit later. The first instance (green) is bogged down in absurdly high numbers of substeps for each frame. The second instance (yellow) is sailing through with far smaller substeps needed for each frame and getting done faster. Same computer, same project, same settings.

I'm building a formed steel frame, a part of which is shown below, to fit inside an archway . I wanted the vertical column to intersect nicely with the curved section, so I built the curved beam first and made a copy of it as a background template. After completing the orthogonal Tee section with all the corners and five pointers, the final step was splicing the Tee section into the curve and massaging it's cp's, mags and bias values so it's shape matches that of the original curve. Hello Hashers- Doing a simple "cookie cut" mapping effect and it is not responding like it should. Instead of clean cutting it has a bizarre transparency effect whereby it chunks up the grid (see photo). I have embedded the simple project if anyone would like to test it.
