mtpeak2 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Just having some fun. Still need to make the treestand and animate the lights. Quote
itsjustme Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 That would make a great Christmas card, Mark! Quote
TheSpleen Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 looks great! Yeah flashing lights would knock it up a step. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks. Animated the lights. I'm using glow rather than real lights, but I may need to add the real lights as well. It's best to save to desktop and set it to loop. I don't have QT Pro to have it set already. christmas_tree.mov Quote
steve392 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Oh a very nice tree Mark ,must be time for the mince piese and brandy Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks guys. Added the real lights. Best to save to desktop and loop again. christmas_tree2.mov Quote
itsjustme Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Better and better...looks great, Mark! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 17, 2009 Hash Fellow Posted December 17, 2009 that's a classic looking tree! Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Thanks Robert. It's still missing something. I think I may add small bows to it. Quote
itsjustme Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Thanks John. Added bows. That image has to be added to AM Stills, Mark! If you haven't already done so, all of your landscape images should be added as well...incredible stuff. Quote
steve392 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I agree with David ,thats a real nice peace of work Mark.I realy like the stand it looks real Quote
GAngus Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Yes, Yes, very nice tree. I like that you changed the scene lighting, so that the green branches show up a little better than in your earlier posts. A nice addition to my seasonal desktop pictures. Thanks Quote
Gerry Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Classic! And glad you added a glow to the star, you read my mind! Quote
largento Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 This really looks great, Mark! Did you use Sweeper to place the lights and ornaments? Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Thanks guys. Mark, unfortunely I didn't use sweeper for the ornaments, I arrange them in the chor. But, what I did was delete all model except the ornaments, deleted the lights and camera and exported as a model. Then I used that model as an action object in an action. I finally got smart and used sweeper for the lights, bows and now emitters for the tinsel (which are also action objects). I still need to arrange the emitters better for the tinsel, so they fall in a better place on the tree, but it's getting there. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Ok, I may have gone overboard. Quote
ptiversen Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 WOW, now that is a Christmas Tree...... Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 17, 2009 Hash Fellow Posted December 17, 2009 Now it needs the miniature village and train set running underneath it. Quote
HomeSlice Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Oh yeah. THAT's a Christmas tree! Merry Christmas Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks everyone. Robert, the tracks should be easy enough and I think there is a steam engine on one of the cd (no cars though), modeled by KenH I think. I could probably use Gerry's gingerbread house for the village. I'll see what I can do. Quote
nino banano Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Hi Mark, what a beautiful christmas tree, very well done..greetings Quote
kwhitaker Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 just saw your beautiful Christmas tree Mark, maybe a few presents or a toy train Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks. Added the train and tracks. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 That's a terrific tree, Mark! Are you still just using glow or have you included lights. It looks great. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks Paul. I'm using both. I need to play around with the light, I'm not too happy with them yet. Quote
kwhitaker Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 that's nice, the tree stand is great, but what about a tree skirt, of snow colors, maybe the tree lights reflecting of the skirt. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 I'll look into it Kat, thanks. Spent some time rigging the train. The rear wheels drive the rig by expressions and constraints. The rear wheel is driven with an expression by translation of a bone. This bone will be tied to the ease of the path constraint in the chor by an expression. This will keep the wheel rotation from slipping when animating the ease of the path constraint. wireframe.mov shaded.mov Quote
Animus Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Ingenious! The wireframe movie is very fun and interesting to watch. Nice mechanical rigging! Michel Quote
Jaff Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Great way of using your bones, I would love to do that some day... Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Thanks. It was a bit tricky with the linkage for the value. Now I'll have to get the timing right when on a path. I just need to know the length of the path, Steffen has a plugin for that, I think. Quote
steve392 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hehe thats looking very nice I wana play with it Quote
Admin Rodney Posted December 20, 2009 Admin Posted December 20, 2009 That's awesome Mark! (the train and the tree) Quote
Paul Forwood Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Yeah. Great tree, train and rigging. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 20, 2009 Hash Fellow Posted December 20, 2009 Looks Good. You could reduce the strobing of the wheel spokes by adding the counter weight that is opposite where the power arm attaches to the wheel. Quote
*A:M User* Shelton Posted December 21, 2009 *A:M User* Posted December 21, 2009 Mark Been following the text part from cell from while out of town. But seeing all the things added, this is great stuff. Steve Quote
mtpeak2 Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Thanks everybody. Paul, the train was modeled by KenH. It's on the A:M cd, I just rigged it and made some modifications. Robert, I added the counter weight, but I'm not sure if it helps or that I even like it. train_test.mov Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 21, 2009 Hash Fellow Posted December 21, 2009 I think it really helps clear up the motion of the wheel, although making them red is an unusual touch. Quote
