I've been working on a three minute short for our booth at a trade show next week. My attempts at rendering have all failed, both rendering a QT movie and Targa files. I'm open to suggestions at least in theory but time is extremely short. I'm going to set up a render to an .avi file and let it run overnight. Tomorrow morning I'll know if it's been successful. But I need a backup plan. My back is seriously to the wall and if anyone with rendering facilities can help out a fellow hasher in his time of need, this is the time! I'm flying out of Charlotte NC Sunday night the 11th but I need to have it in time to finish up the sound. It's now 10pm Tuesday i…

Muscle-man type. A bit of a brute. Most of the detail I've worked on is in his face. The rest of him will (hopefully) get it's detail from texturing rather than modeling parts of his costume.

Well, you read it right..I'm trying to model a face...I'm using the "Mr.Incredible" references because I want to start w/ a simple nose...and I don't want to have to make references myself for a face (too lazy) I still have to shift some CP's to get rid of some creases that are easy to wash away....:

ok.... You can see in screen cap 2, the circles that make up the leg are fine til it gets to the point circled in red. In screencap 1 the worst areas are circled. Any thoughts on best way or if this is even necessary to correct are appreciated. Thanks Roger

Hey guys, I've spent the last day or two tinkering around with the idea of a low-res BB batman for fun. Anyway, I couldn't find many great reference images, so the majority of the work has been guessing. Meh, I'm not losing much sleep over it either. I know there are a couple hard angles and other kinks to work out, but I don't intend to render this guy at 800 x 600 at all. ...Tommorrow, the utility belt.

Hello chaps, It just struck me that it's been almost 2 or 3 months since I last posted any work here and that I've mainly been commenting other peoples stuff. However, a new school year means new inspiration, so here goes. Here's my attempt at a semi-realistic human, male head. The forehead and backhead is still under work, so is his nose and his mouth(I don't like his mouth at all, it doesn't look good):

I modeled this while in an airport during a layover. Does it get any easier than modeling in A:M?

I have kept up-to-date with my blog and modeling 30 household objects (6 so far) but now I have added animations as well with the aim of 30 animations. After 3 animations I am really pleased with the progress, of course it is not wonderful or awe inspiring but I am moving in the right direction and moreover my 3rd animation gave me a sense of achievement as I was able to do everything I wanted in A:M because I had spent the time gaining the knowledge on how to do it. anyhow if you follow the link at the bottom and select the animation page you can see the progress. As usual the blog etc. is up-to-date.

Well, here it is, it took quite a while due to this short being, basically, my first shot at about everything in A:M and that I was also busy with other things. I think everything came out nicely and I would like your comments and suggestions. Alright, well here it is...

Hey Guys, Simon here, (a.k.a. Guernseyfreak ) I'm not sure if anyone out there remembers the Against The Author (ATA) Motion Picture I was directing, after all, I haven't posted in such a long time... Um.... to update from last time I told you about the movie. Yes, of course it is being made in Animation Master, Version 11 I think. A couple of months back we had a major system crash and lost a year and a half of work on it, but now we are back on track thanks to a very dedicated team. Since last time I posted I have been trained with the New York Film Academy and done backstage work for Universal Studios, promoting a Universal Studios in Japan, so…

Hey guys (and gals), I've been working hard at the grindstone modeling an NYPD Impala that transforms into voila, a Transformer. Convenient eh? I've been working hard to make sure it somewhat resembles an impala. The headlights and grill look a little funky, and every time I attempt to shrink it or adjust it, it only affects the hood and creates funky bends. Anyway, I'm building the internal gadgets as we speak, and expect to have a fully functioning knee joint by tomorrow. I only wish to have everything in one model so I can animate it without any unnecessary trickery. Sorry if the image quality is a bit crappy, I'm becoming impatient with the rendering time…

Way back when I picked up a SNES controller and beat the crap out of Andross and his minions to save the galaxy. The music was rocking, the shoot-em up was excellent, and the original game is still fun for me to play even to this day. So once I got my footing in Animation Master, I knew I just HAD to recreate the Arwings in full 3DCG glory. Each piece of the image was rendered separately and merged together in photoshop later. The final output is below. The only thing I can think of to make the models better is to figure out a way to get a light source to produce a lense flare while inside a polygon form to create an actual light, and not just …

Vern mentioned he had considered modelling a steam powered computer. This isn't such a thing but what is it? It's obviously not finished but I am in the process of creating it for the 'Haunted House' film. I don't want to spend too much time on it because it was only written into the script for one gag!

I am enjoying my new found skill with the toon render... it is finally starting to make sense to me. I have two questions... 1) Per the attached image... is it possible to create "edge" highlights... closer to my reference drawing? I know... it isn't "realistic" lighting... would there be a way to fake this with the toon gradient somehow? Or a group with different settings? Would like as simple a solution as possible... may have to animate this stuff later. Hard to see in the illustration but those highlights on the edges "taper" off at the ends. 2) I noticed that if I do small test renders... my bump maps seem to be offset... I have two images in…

Hi everybody, I'm 13 and got A:M about a month ago. I've gone through the tutorials and just started modeling and animating on my own. Here is my first model of "my own." I'd love to hear some feedback (yes, I know there's a lot of creasing. I'll try to fix it.) It is supposed to be an ape's head. Thanks everybody, David

Howdy all. Just doing a little exercise in a run to test out TSM2. This was done straight-ahead in choreography, not in a cycled action with stride length, which is different than how I usually work. Enjoy. Comments and crits welcome, as always, the tougher the better. 3 seconds, 120K or so, Sorenson 3 .mov. runalien_sor3.mov

This post is more of a query than a showing of new work, but I'm going to be presumptuous and post this in the WIP rather than the New Users forum. This is a model of an inline speed skate. This is my second model, the first with curved surfaces, so I have a number of questions. I'm sure all of these questions have been asked and answered before, but I'm still looking for those answers. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd certainly appreciate it. 1. What is the best way to remove the creases in the model's surface? 2. Ideally, I'd like to radius the edges of the frame (the metal structure below the boot), but the short splines connecting the…

Here's a project I've been working on in my spare time for the last week or so. My wife and I both love reading so I decided to make an ideal comfortable, rich environment to do just that in. I'm still working on drawing out the surroundings here there's still a lot of tweaking to be done on the textures and what not for this model, but thought I'd start a thread anyway. Feel free to blast away. Comments are always helpful.

Here is a model I did a while ago and never got around to rendering it out. Thanks for who ever posted the keychain project, can't remember the name right now. It took 5 hours total for the model and about 657 patches. Comments welcome. Chad if anyone would like this model, let me know and I will get it packaged up in a zip for download.

Hello all. My two questions are... 1) How do we model/animate a natural moving/looking/behaving METAL CHAIN? Complete with links, and all.... what's the best way? or short cuts? tips? tricks? actual pre-made model someone might have to wanna give? And... 2) How many passes are suggested for a BROADCAST QUALITY slightly-more-than-good end product (maybe just under great, but above pretty good). Okay, maybe three questions.... 3) Anything I should know about final format for editing in Final Cut Pro HD (on the Mac), with the desire for an HD or WIDESCREEN compatibility? Many thanks in advance for your help. -Jim

Hi all, I've been pecking away for a bit, and came up with this. Please c&c about it. I'm interested in hearing about the shoulders and hips-are they workable? I've thought about stitching a spline across the chest into the deltoids to help definition, also one on either side of the center line to better define the abs. I 'm modeling him bald so I could use the hair feature, but I'm thinking of adding 'hanks' of conical hair splines for a simpler, toonier look. Some of the included models in AM seem to have these hanks 'stuck in' any wich way-this animates/renders OK? Thanks in advance for your help. Ww (Brian)

In the attached image I have several different styles of simple "building" graphics all created from one model with several poses. Now... check out the short building and the tall building. I am using a "window" decal with a color image and a bump image with a repeat. For the tall building I increase the vertical repeat.. depending on the height I increase or decrease this value. My question is this... I am very lazy... would there be a way to "link" the Y repeat of one image in a decal to another image? ... or... for bonus points, would there be a way to link the Y repeat value to the value of the "height" pose? I would love to have the "windows"…

After watching it a few times I find the snout a bit long, agree? So any crit and tips is highly appreciated -Stian-
