I just like to post random things sometimes. This is a render that I did last night of two characters from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Jiggle Billy on the right, and Happy Time Harry on the left.

Hi all - I've modeled the attached. Nothing too exciting, but it's proving challenging to my rudimentary skills. Thanks to Vern for his help and suggestions so far. Looking for more opinions in the area of texturing. The front view is textured with a simple gaussian blur. The back view is just A:M color right now. Does it look at all like paper (and how would I improve this texture)? Thanks for any input. ..doug

Hi all! I'm making a bike chain with sprockets and, I can't get the chain to work at all. Does anyone have an idea how to make the chain follow the sprockets? I have 1 bone for each link in the chain and I'm using A:M v11.1. //Korken

My TV production class is creating an animated short this year for a statewide film contest (FAME for all you Floridians). I figured that I would start this thread to get some useful critiques. The entire short will take place on a small pond where several frogs are going to sing an acapella version of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot." I have finished the Frog characters- This is where I've run into my first dilemma. I absolutly LOVE the way the Darktree shader works on this model- It's perfect. But I applied the material at my house on my Windows machine. My school is running A:M off a MacG5. How would I go about ether burning the material on as a texture…

Okay I made a project wit two chors the first generates Thom doing two jump cycles as a tga sequence (used alpha buffer) Then for the second chor I import the sequence of tgas and use them as the sprite. I applied to model put in in chor and (not sure if necessary) choose frame at the end of each cycle to match what frame in sequence should be there ( action 1:01 so at 1:01 i chose sprite frame 1:01 at 2:02 chose 2:02)-again might not be necessary. Anyway then rendered the qt here [attachmentid=11396] project file with both chors instead of the sprite sequence [attachmentid=11397] I know its a bit rough but it hopefully will steer y…

Hi Folks, Just wondering if anyone knew a way to render a model like this. Its a source file for a stereogram generating programme. I think the rule is that lightest values in the pic appear foremost in the stereogram. Maybe there is a way to do it post render... any ideas? Cheers AndyG

Here is a short clip that will be distributed to Lawyers in the Atlanta area soon. There is an associate of mine who is marketing a product that targets the legal community. The media he included in the demo contains a lot of our work. All the animation was created using AM. The green screen work was done in a different package. The old fat guy wearing the blue shirt is me (either that or our names are exactly the same). Dustin Productions Promo David

Hi all: I finally got around to compressing the final version of Soap Opera. For those who don't know, it's a five-minute slice of Mozart's Don Giovanni performed by the denizens of a bathroom. "You'll never look at Pert Plus the same way again!" This version premiered at the D.C. Shorts Festival in September 2005. (I think, technically, it was first shown at the Hash SIGGRAPH party, but I won't tell D.C. Shorts if you don't.) Its next appearance will be at the Cleveland Film Festival this March. I wrote and animated it, Jeff Lee produced the music, and we both modeled it. Special thanks to David Rogers for an exhaustive lighting critique (which I trie…

Hello friends For the last couple of weeks I have been working on recreating my office into A:M. This still a WIP since there are MANY small models yet to create. This is my office (or the entrance of the basement flat that it actually is ) where I spend a lot of time fiddling with A:M I feel like I have achieved the atmosphere pretty well (the room is lit by two spotlights, and the it's actually as dark as that) Its rendered in radiosity (~11hr). I have made but not yet rendered a mx1000 mouse and a mousepad and done some adjustments to the grey keyboard (and there is lot more to add... alot) I appreciate comments or criticism

Since I am working overtime on my "real" job, I don't have time for serious animation projects these days. So I thought I'd try a simple project to teach myself a bit about compositing in AM. I have some video footage shot out the passenger window of my car and thought I might composite this with a flying Shaggy, as though he were flying along side the car like Superman. Simple animation project that could be done in the course of a day or so. The attached image shows how simple the green screen setup is. I've created a simple green screen behind Shaggy and will animate him bobbing and weaving in the air as though he were flying. Then I'll composite this with th…

Here is the last of the Dinosaurs that we had/have on eggprops. So now we have a complete set. Again this one was done by Brian and Joe and now (after I re-worked a lot of the rigging and tail geometry) works perfectly in the latest versions of A:M. And here it is! Enjoy.

Well, i've worked on this in my spare time between school and other things. I'm pretty new at A:M and this is actually the first model that i actually have rigged. I still have to rig the antenna and fix the riging of the legs. And also increase the amount of patches in the head, because it renders really wierd as you will see in the photo. Comments and Critiques are definately welcome! Thanks

Here is my latest character. Yes, I know...it's just his head. His name is Captain "Lucky" Starz . He is a spaceship pilot. Or soon will be! I haven't decided on a design for the rest of him yet. If anyone has any suggestions, please speak up. What I DO know so far... 1) humanoid body 2) some kinda space getup 3) imagination, imagination, imagination I am still working on some sketches (but I'm really NOT a very good sketch artist) and I will post those as I go.

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Ken Baer and James Hash when they were in London for MacExpo. They mentioned that they are always looking for more promotional material so, when this came to mind while I was playing with some Loons, I decided to just do it. This is pretty rough but not bad for just over a days work on the animating. I hope to refine it, get rid of the camera motion, and add another 5 seconds at the end sometime. And of course there are no textures yet, except his eyes and eyebrows. The attached movie file is pretty low res.

There it is! Again Joe and Brian were involved in this guy. The thing I really like about this model is the fact that the decals don't cover the whole dino. . . but they blend in perfectly with the materials underneath. Its a really great piece. You can check it out <here>.

I've been working on figuring out how to create a furry character for a few weeks, and have had very little success with Animation Master's hair material. What I've been able to get so far: http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote0.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote1.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote2.jpg All slightly different variations of the density settings. But you can see why I'm having problems. The fur looks too uniform in placement, even with the position variation set to 100%. Recently I installed the DarkTree plugins, and got the spotted fur texture applied to her after working on materials to get the fade …

This is the "glam shot" of the Albertasaur Skeleton Joe Cosman modeled for eggprops a while back. I just re-vamped it a little and added it back on eggprops. I must say it is pretty amazing how much work went into this thing. The tail controls alone are kind of mind blowing. Looks pretty sexy too. You can check it out <here>. And. . . Larry I promise I'll get cracking on the others ASAP.

Fellow AMers: I’m building a model of a WWII fighter plane and I’ve run into a decaling challenge that I didn’t foresee with the canopy. The plan was to use a simple spline geometry for the canopy shape, apply a glass material to the shape and then add a detailed decal to represent the canopy support structure (frame) on top of that. It appears that the frame structure decal is adopting the transparency of the underlining glass material, which makes the frame almost completely transparent. I can see that this would be a good thing in most cases, i.e. making sure that the decal has the correct surface properties, but this there a way to turn this off for the tr…

Hi Hashers Well after a two months of waiting the waiting is over, sadly I didn't make it to 'The Finalists' sob, sob... Still I did put this flick together rather quickly and I spent only six weeks of spare time on it but the other entries were very good. Here's the link: BBC New Animator BUT! I've been working on a "waves at night with moon" scene for a bit. I think it needs more work, especially with the fog, but I'm sure there is more to improve. I want it to look as photoreal as possible, but I need to find some reference photos or head out to the lake one of these nights to see how it really looks. Any critiques or comments would be great. I'll try to explain more, especially the problems I'm having with the fog, when I have the time, but I have a busy day ahead so I need to go to sleep. Thanks, --Ross

I was pursuing gainful means of employment. Now finally have time to work on gainful means of enjoyment. After going to the Dan Holtz's Race Experience, I decided that I would model the Mesa Marin track. one reason is because I almost broke the track record in a car with only half the horse power. The other reason is the track is scheduled for destruction this month. So I decided I would carry on the legacy. I need some help with some things, first I rotated the straights at 7 degrees, and the corners at 18 degrees, that is what the track has, but it looks like it is way more angled than that. When you use the rotate manipulator, and input a number, is that the actual real world degree, or is it different on this program? Any who, here is the still of what I hav…

this is a test for an fx shot. I'm going to add in some lasers, explosions and smoke, etc. But I'm wondering how convincing this looks, before I continue. It's basically just animated photo- manipulation... http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1qub6/sitebui.../bostonufo4.mov Several things I notice: The boats don't move. I'm planning on cutting one or two out and putting them on seperate layers, and adding some rocking. There's something going on with the buildings when the ufo is onscreen. It's got to do with the mo…
