A saver I created is being featured on the Axialis Homepage: (www.axialis.com) It's in the News section - under Featured Screen Saver. The sprites were modeled & animated in v10.5. The (exe) file will install and uninstall the saver. File size is 2.1 mb. Best viewed at 1024x768. If you get a chance, check it out.

Hands Down

This is a very short clip of a possible short film. I say possible short film because I don't know if I'll ever actually make it, I was simply doing this to test out some stuff I had learned. Keep in mind this is the very first animation that I have rendered (I've made plenty of animations that were so bad I threw them away) and there are plenty of mistakes. To name one, the hand sinks into the ground at the beginning, but it's not too terribly noticable. The hand was modeled in Wings 3D. When I imported it into AM, it looked like there were holes all over the model. The go away once you render the animation, but it bothers me anyway, does anyone know why it does th…

Here's my question. I've been modeling a quick-n-dirty cartoon character, of which I am still working on the head. I've learned from experience and tried to make the character with absolutely no creases. So far I think I've acheived my goal. The problem is that the head seems to change color in the back (due to shadows). If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this please tell me.

My mom came up with this crazy idea about a week ago and I've been having alot of fun with this animation! This is what I have so far... just imagine that your in a jungle. Your admiring the flowers and you hear something. You run over to the noise crouch down and you find this! :D The animation still needs alot of work but this is it so far:

This is an exciting time, I'm in the process of beginning a new model. My modeling skills are not the greatest, and I often find myself in frustration as my mesh ceases to flow correctly. If anyone else ever experiences similar dilemmas, try this, it helps. I drew a few quick sketches of what I thought I wanted, took what I liked from each of them, and ended up with a drawing shown in the first upper left image. I then drew out better rotoscopes, clarifying just what I wanted, and making sure I had a clear idea of where I was going in specific areas. I then suppressed the extremely strong urge to jump on the computer and start modelling. I dug through some things and foun…

I'm sorry, but I wasn't sure where in the forums that this post would go. Techincally I do have a WIP, but I just don't have anything to show right now. I just had a quick question: are there any tutorials on modeling armor and clothing on characters?

Sorry to post the question in here but for some reason i cant post in the FAQ section. Anyways, i have a problem. Everytime i render something other than as a Final render i get a black screen. Why???? I've been trying to figure this out but i cant. Thanks for any help you can give me and, once again, sorry to post a question in the WIP. Thanks, Sean

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC0pbC1vzyY Hello esteemed fellow Hashers! I'm in a bit of a 'pickle'...maybe you can help me out with some advice. I am doing a retail furniture advert and I did an animation of a ribbon Untying (see link) using an muscle mode action to 'UNdraw' the ribbon and then I used SimCloth to get the ribbon to fall...kinda nice. The art director saw it and does not like it- HE wants the ribbon to UNtie as if invisible hands were pulling at it and he wants convincingly real action. I am now sitting back scratching my head wondering the best way to TRY and pull this off---literally. Ideas include: -boning the ribbon and using IK…

This is basically my first model. Or, at least the first one I'm trying to make from (drawn) a rotoscope. I think it's looking half-way decent at present, but I'm freaking out trying to get the rest looking right. I'm also having a great deal of problems trying to connect the frame of the window to what will be the roof of the cab. It's not in the picture (actually, it's not even made), so please try to use your imagination to pictuer what it should look like. Any assistance that can be offered, especially in the realm of smootheness, would be greatly appreciated.

Ninja Bean. and no i have not forgotten about my other projects. i am managing my time. sorry if you all are mad because i already have a bean WIP topic out th…

IDL stood for Interactive Distance Learning. This is an opening I made to start off training broadcasts we used to do back when Nortel was somewhat richer than it is today. It was meant to represent the Distance Learning concept of people from various locations gathering "virtually" (a real happening word at the time) to hear from a remote instructor. I did everything except the video montage near the end. I think I was using A:M v5 at the time for the 3D, Strata MediaPaint for the fireballs and Adobe After Effects to tie it all together. The music is from a library we licensed. Links you can right-click on to download in QT or WMV appear on: http:…

I tried running A:M in the background and did the first 60 even frames at 320x240. Render times went from 4 mins at start to 40 mins at end. It's quite a globulous liquid! It sort of resembles oil in water. (QT Sorenson3 123KB) water30.mov

Thought I'd move Maggie over to the WIP so I don't spend so much list time. Warning: graphics overload (4 shots). She's become very soft, almost cartoony now. I'd kind of like to try and push her back to a little more realism. I've tried using specular highlight to get the glint in her eyes to become alive, but it's not really working. I'm going to try a clear overlayer tomorrow to see how that works. Any other hints would be welcome. I did move the decal a bit and it does improve the look. She's got an extra ring on the lips now, and the upper half of the jumpsuit is modelled as you can see. The arm is attrociously dense, but …

Howdy, all. Got a man made out of the moon here. Blue moon, even. His textures aren't final (he's just mirrored around the X-axis at the moment) but you get the general idea. I need to get rid of the creases at the side, obviously. I'm also wondering if he's a little spline-heavy. His mouth will need to be very expressive. This is probably the best face I've done yet, which gives you an idea of my lack of facial prowess. But it's all a learning process, so don't hold back your critiques and suggestions! Thanks, Zach

Here is a QuickTime link to my short "Marboxian." Some of you may have seen this at the Hash film show at SIGGRAPH; Ottawa; or one of a few other screenings. It's picked up a couple of minor awards, and audiences -- including, I'm told, a roomful of very sleepy children, once -- seem to like it. Link. Two warnings: First, the file is 114MB (12 minutes at good quality). Second, it's hosted through my cable modem, and I can't guarantee decent bandwidth. (Mike Muncy's been great to me, but I really can't afford the kind of bandwidth I'd need to host it off his servers. Or... much else right now. *sigh*) Keep democratizing- -M@

Greetings, good community. What's up? Mine is a story you've all heard before -- making a model, looking for advice, secretly fishing for charitable encouragement. :P hehe These are bodyparts of a merman/creature from a dark fantasy story. Any critique would be good, but if someone could give me some pointers about modeling for animation, I would greatly appreciate it. Hey all. I'm looking for a little input for my little, on-going merman project. I am now attempting/struggling to texturemap the head. Jim Talbot's video tuts have been really helpful in this capacity, since I needed to know how A:M allowed the magical UV process to take place. But from a more artistic standpoint, I really don't know what to do. What sort of skin tone would look best? How thick should a person lay on shading and facial features? Does he need color mapping for wrinkles, or should I leave that to bump mapping? Any input is quite welcome. Here are some pics. Needed a break today from what I was working on so I tried to model the standard Dragon. Since I usually don't model anything that complex I thought I would ask for some help. I did what I posted using what I remember from the "devil dog" modeling on the Hash tapes. meaning I started with an extrusion then cut it in half and added the legs, arms wings to the half and copy flipped and attached. There are no claws , feet or real head but I posted a wireframe and a little qt any comments suggestions welcome. http://johnl.inform.net/pages/dragon0.htm thanks

I'm working on a personal project I hope to animate sometime soon. When I finish this model, it will be my first real completed 3d model. The entire thing is being modeled in Animation Master 9.5 (atleast until I upgrade to 10). As I get further along, I'll be posting finished models, textures and storyboards. Any tips, crits, or input are greatly appreciated. I'm teaching myself as I go.

Yes, i know the head looks like a box, but I plan on fixing it. Very Highly welcome would be tips about doing the mouth. BTW, I am working on him on the left side, I just used Copy/Flip/Attach to show him off. Head1 Head2 edited to reduce page load time!

Clicky Yes, I was so happy when this popped out. I'm working on a Riven-style-interface game that takes place in a moon colony in 2319. This is Version 4.0 of that same room. Maybe I'll be satisfied. The whole reson I'm redoing it a fourth time is because I made the choreography in AM 8.0j, then upgraded to 10.0 (now I'm running 10.5i). When I try to open the choreographies in 10.5i, all the models go to 0,0,0 and scale 100,100,100. Is there a way to get around this, or is it another Animation:Master Oddity? Thanks.

Well, that topic was quite ambiguous.. I hope you get it in the 3D matters... This is my first female model in AM. I modeled the body and now the head, which was much more difficult than men IMO. Not that she's ready for a beauty contest... but at least she's very smart What do you think? Here are some links Chica 01 Chica 02 Chica 03 Note that in this image I drew her eyebrows in photoshop, since the poor girl has none yet. Emilio Le Roux
