-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.
-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.
-No flames of any kind.
-No Off Topic posts. (Posts in the Off Topics section should be related to A:M in some form or fashion or benefit the A:M community as a whole).
-No soliciting of any kind without prior approval.
-No threads or comparisons related to other 3D Applications.

-No "me too!" posts
-No discussion of Hash Internal Affairs (finances, advertising, PR.)
-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)
-No very general questions like: "how do I make a good 3D model" make your questions as complete and concise as possible.
If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

...Hi! Well, at least I always have found it a little "weird" and I'm not sure if this is resolved in that way for some reason or even if it could be a bug (although I don't think so cause we were talking about be a very old bug...) The case is that it seem to happens in any case, Action, Relationship, etc... but let's say you are modeling, ok? You add CP's, and you can see how it appears listed in the "Project Workspace Window" inside the Splines folder, thats right, but then, if I want to select one of they, and I select it in the PWS window it's not selected in the main preview window so there is no way to know which poit I have selected... And the only real metho…

I assume from absence of any real information in guides that it is not possible to use any form of scan software (eg on clay models) to develop character in Hash... characters must be created by the stitching method described I think. Any advice welcome. also about importing characters from other programmes outside Hash... I understand that inanimate objects can be imported. Are there any tools for converting an inanimate object from say 3dstudio max into an object that can be animated in hash? Many thanks. Look forward to responses! Sorry, I am an AM newby and just learning the ropes here... and clearly this is much the best character animation software on the m…

ello again this is more of a question than a how do i i was trying to recreate the building effect used in a old game known as "total annihilation" the effect is simplistic but looks cool as it works 1 a builder bot walks to the location it wants to build something 2 a green wire frame of the to be built object appears , to keep it simple for this test i made it a diamond 3 the bot sprays the wire frame with nanobots , as this is done a fully surfaces version of the diamond slowly grows up , 4 after the diamond is fully green the actual surface follows in the same way , once that is done the build is complete my current pro…

Hi everyone, I discovered A:M in its v7 and there, I founded a render property called oversample wich rendered the frames ad double of more size for scaling them down later in order to remove aliased borders and other artifacts from decals and etc... Now, in v12 I've lost this oversampling option. Is it hidden in another place of the program or it has simply be removed in favour of multipass? I've been trying to use multipass but more the passes are, more the general blur in the image and it doesn't involve neccesarily a better look of my render... more of this aliased borders still appear, but softened. Thanks everyone for your support

I'm going through the animation exercises, and one of the biggest things that would be helpful to me is if there was a way to visualize which bones are keyed when. Something like, if a bone has any sort of key during the current frame, it changes color. You might even have the color depend on what kinds of keys exist during the current frame (translation, rotation, etc). It would make it so much easier to find and delete keys, and to figure out which bones are keyed in the current frame. Does anybody know if such a feature exists? Thanks for any help! Edit: After doing some searching, I found some instructions on how to set this up in V14, but they don't seem applica…

Hi - I created a character and need to set up some pose sliders for eye lids shutting, turning left & right, etc. Should I set these up using CP's or put small bones for the eyelids, eyes, etc? What is the proper way? Thanks - Eric

I am working on an animated short, doing scenes in order of my own ability to complete them. I'm learning as I go along. Now I have a scene coming up which will present a challenge. Basically it will have my character in bed, under a blanket and she is supposed to grab the blanketand "fold it" away from herself as she is getting out of bed. I'm thinking about trying Cloth for this (for the first time), but does that seem like the right approach to you? Maybe I could just model a blanket and put bones in it that will allow me to animate it from a more or less straight state to a folded state. Do you think that would be better in this case?

Hi all Perhaps this is just another example of why I should stick with the baby steps instead of jumping into the deep end head first but my first attempt at using decals has been frustrating to say the least. For a little bit of background I was playing around with creating scenes from a space opera i've been dabbling with and I was playing with from space shots of the principle setting. For this I assumed that the best approach for creating this planet would be to make a large decal made from one of my maps of the setting (attachment 1) on top of of a 32patch sphere unfortunately the end result of this leads us to attachment 2. I've played with the size of t…

When I went through TAO:AM, I know there were some moments that I was asked to do things that just didn't seem to be in my software. Easing is a great example, and since I finally have a reason I want to ease, I'm going to ask about it. So I locate the ease in the PW. I double-click it. Isn't it supposed to expand? For me, the "ease" looks like a bone's keyframe line or anything else's, but I can't find anywhere to edit it. In the Properties window, it lists only the title, "Ease*" and a single button which changes whether the waveform is curvey, sharply angled, or another one. I can't figure out how to edit ease functions on my computer, although I can…

Then I noticed the odd spot light on the model. “This is in model mode” in 15i vers. So I opened it in 15d vers. How do I turn it off?

Hello - odd problem. When I drop a new object/model into my chor the "cast shadow" from the main light disappears. When I turn the object active "on" the cast shadow disappears - then on the next frame that I make the object active "off" the shadow comes back. The object is far away from the light, so that isn't an issue - has anyone run into this problem? Thanks, Eric

I am ready to render a scene from my project and it will probably take several days. I thought I would use another computer in my house to do the render so I could keep working on other parts of the project. The two computers are connected by a wireless network. But what is the most efficient way to transfer the project to another computer to render? I tried consolidating the project onto the 2d computer, and all the relevant folders containing the project, images, models, etc. were created, but when I tried to open the project in the 2d computer, it still tried to find the images and models in exactly the same paths as they are stored on the 1st computer. Since cons…

Hi - I am a newbie to materials and how they work - I am looking through the tech ref and it is talking about Material Diplacement - they show 100% - 200% and it looks like actual bumps instead of just a flat surface. When I used Roughness and Roughness scale it doesn't give the bumpy look - just distorts the colors to make it look bumpy, but still has the flat look. I am not getting something here, can anyone clue me in. Here is a great example of a "real" look to everything I am looking to learn to do courtesy of Matt W Bradbury http://www.hash.com/users/amfeatu...pertiesRoom.jpg Thanks - Eric

Is it possible to change a topic description once the topic has been posted? The reason I ask, is that it would be nice to update the topic description when I have updated a WIP. For instance, in my AT-AT WIP, when I posted an animation of the walk cycle, I could have changed the topic description to something like "2006/10/21 - Created first basic walk cycle". At the Anim8or forum, you could do it be editing the first original post, and then change the description there, but haven't seen anything like that here. Thanks... Al

Hi, at the intro video of Animation Master you have Homer Simpson and a T-rex being animated! I wonder if someone has this model? I didn't find at the extras CD that people mentioned in other posts. Also, Homer, the fat guy, is no longer avaiable at the FTP. I saw at other posts that it was in the Data folder of the FTP, which doesn't exist anymore. I really wanted to make some animation using the T-Rex. I found a free model, but couldn't import to A:M. I can import it as a prop but it is useless as it has no bones! Using the plugin import function, A:M begin importing but stops at 20%. I tried some other 3ds models and all hung at 20%. Is it a bug of A:M 2005 or the…
