Hi, Please watch the video (link below) and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I need a model of a sphere rotated forward 90 degrees. At the end of the video you'll see the splines warp??? BTW at the end I hit the space bar several times refreshing so it isn't a refresh error. This the latest version 17. Thanks, Rusty

So I tried to make some new business cards. I liked someone the stuff in the post so they are a lot like it. v18_buss_card.psd v18_buss_card_bk.psd they are still editable and I will take any suggestions tomorrow when i have a bit of time i will work on the flyer. I still hope to get some good ones today but I'm working on this for back up. Ok I already see and edit I need to remove the tongue but that is an easy fix.

Hello Hashers- I have a choreography with multiple windows open and they have thin red borders inside (see pic). When I click inside the window, the red borders disappear and then come back. Simple question....What are the red borders signifying? Thank you in advance. (I'm sure it is simple but could find no info in manuals or online) Tom

Have started trying to model a Trial motorbike for use in the current project. They all seemto have spoked wheelsrather than the alloy type used by road racersa nd production types. What might be the best way to model the spokes ? I recall someone suggesting using "render as lines" to a similar question in the past. Have tried that but, it came out as a solid disc. Deleted the rim part, leaving the splines behind, and they don't show up as lines,although that is selected under properties. Does Toon render have to be engaged for that to work or, am I missing something ? ( again ) Thanks simon

I would like to test if it is possible to animate a model in Animation Master and then use the action file to control an animatronic version of the model in the real World. I wonder if there is any documentation about the contents of the Animation Master action files? It would be more efficient to read a specification instead of just guessing and testing... (The idea is to translate the pose values into commands to Control servos in an Arduino setup.)

Hello all- I am using Version 18.0 d SSE4 and I am trying to "groom" some hair. I go to View/Toolbars and select "Grooming" in the check box and the icon pops up on the side of my screen.. ...however when I close the Toolbars menu, the grooming icons disappear from the margin of the screen? Has anybody else have this happen.. Thanks for any help! Tom

Have just updated to 18 n 64bit (installing on my Win10 went okay), but the bug that makes it impossible to select and move points and objects, make this version impossible to work with. Wanted to switch back to 18 m, but couldn't find it anywhere on the FTP. If I download via the link in the forum announcement of 18 m, I get 18 n. Help anybody?

So I have purchased the subscription and downloaded the software. Did the installation and got through that hurdle. Now I am up to the 'The Door's Stuck' tutorial in TAoAM and have run into a little snag. It tells me to go to the projects tab in the library and get the project for the tutorial. um...the projects tab is empty. Is there a link to download the extras?

Does anyone have insight into this? Here is the outline of an X I have made. All the corners are Peaked CPs. X_outline.mdl If I use the Y key to add a CP on a spline, that should be a default CP with zero bias. If I add a CP on one of the short splines ( see A) and smOoth it with the O key it behaves as I expect, the two new spline segments are as straight as the old one. If I add a CP to one of the long legs of the X and smOoth it, it gets a twist to it (see B ) The default behaviour for a CP with zero bias is that its bias handle should be parallel to a line drawn between its two neighboring CPs but that is not happening in case B. Try loading this project and do an onscreen render from the camera view. simple cyl01.prj Do you get anything other than blue sky? I just get blue sky. Other projects load and render normally, but in this one the ground and model don't render. What is different?

I ran the A:M three teapots benchmark on my Core 2 Quad Q6600 machine. At the stock speed of 2.4GHz it takes about 5:10 per frame I have a utility to overclock the CPU. At 2.8GHz it takes about 4:14 per frame, which is about 20% improvement for only a 16% increase in speed. But at 3.0GHz the time goes up to 4:40 per frame. So what goes wrong at that higher speed?

Every time I purchase a subscription, it seems impossible to do so without emailing Jason. I pay, I get an activation number, but what then. I download the last version and try to open it I get 'RLM error-3, Please email support@hash.com to actitvate via email'. This or similar happens ever since the darned subscription thing is in place. The purchase site is hopeless, with outdated options etc. and not once could I upgrade without support. Seems to me a waste of Jasons' time

Good evening everyone, I ask myself this question for a few years already, without finding a logical answer. I noticed that the AM export Obj writes the triangles like quads. That is to say for a triangle ABC, the convention is to write as follows: f A B C But AM write them: f A B C A, which is the convention of writing quads (f A B C D). Some programs like Wings3D play them correctly, others like Blender, consider them as bad quads that they ignore, which creates holes and therefore unusable. I thought this was because the three-sided patches are a variant of the four-sided patches, but I do not understand the usefulness of keeping this writing export that makes it hea…

Last night I spent two hours pushing CPs around in a new Pose, then i saved my model again. Then I noticed I hadn't been working in a Pose window, I had been moving the CPs in the model window! There's no amount of pressing "undo" that would save that situation. Fortunately I always save in incrementally numbered versions with brief descriptions of what was just done so it was easy to go back to the last version of the model before I made that ghastly error. I rarely need to go back to my old versions but about two or three times a year I'll do something spectacularly bad like that and I'm glad they are there.

Couldn't find any thread on this subject (?), so I'll start one here: 1) Ability to auto unwrap and save real UV-maps, including ability to mark seams. (Would save so much time and work) 2) Option in preferences to select default spline interpolation in action/choreography (Indispensable!!) 3) Option to select the visual representation of bones. Especially to stick-look. (Less cluttering when animating) 4) Ability to utilise multicore processors inside A:M. (Greater speed all around) 5) Ability to do graphics processor/GPU rendering. (Much greater render speed in some instances)

Hello, Everyone I'm sorry I have been slacking on projects, emails, and well fixes. I do freelance work and also help out at a friends tech company. The work load is getting to me. I have been falling behind on some Hash, Inc. items, support@hash.com & orders@hash.com emails, and a few other things. It seams like every time I start something, something else work related gets in the way. But I'm back today and have free'd up some time next week with enough coffee and some luck I should be able to be back on top of my work load by the end of next week. Trying to help a coworker struggling with getting transparency in 3DS. He saved out a model as an .obj, I brought it into v.16 and when I dropped it into a chor, I had live surface settings to mess with. this is pretty huge, don't know if this has been in there for awhile but it's great. Oddly, they're available only on the chor shortcut, not on the model itself.

Hi again, There use to be a second install file which added other files that AM needed--has this been done away with? Also, use to be that on each AM CD you got models, materials, etc. Sometimes new items were added. Does the 'data' file contents still exist for V17? Thanks again! Rusty

I suppose all of you have had to fix bad spline flows like the ones in the attached image to avoid those ugly creases. (I mean actual modelling, not porcelain.) How would you correct each of these cases? How would you like to be able to do so with a single click? Is there a recipe that would suit everyone?
