agep Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hi guys I've just started modeling a new model. I want you guys try to guess what it's going to be, while more and more gets revealed along with the progress. So far I've just modeled the belts, but more to come. The mesh is insanely dens though, but that is due to various bevels and holes. Let me know what you think so far Quote
Tralfaz Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hi Stian: Looking good so far. Love the way you model and render. My guess is a steam shovel of some type, similar to the one shown below. Thanks... Al Quote
Kamikaze Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Gee, no idea here, tank , moon land rover, it will be cool whatever it is.... Quote
UNGLAUBLICHUSA Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 It looks to be of the caterpillar brand to me...and I LOVE it. SCHWING!! very nice job. Quote
Tai Shan Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Great stuff so far. I'm sure my guess is way off, but I'll tell you what I'm hoping it will be: one of the vehicles from the apocalyptic future in The Terminator! Quote
jzawacki Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Well, since everyone already took the easy ones.. and were general enough to cover pretty much all the vehicle ranges.. And the fact that it doesn't have the tilt in the front to help get over things.. I'm going to stake my claim to the robot family. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted February 9, 2008 Admin Posted February 9, 2008 Wall E? Looking good thus far Stian! Quote
agep Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Thanks guys. Its not going to be an exciting model, a pretty boring one actually. Tralfaz did get the color right though:) Quote
UNGLAUBLICHUSA Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep going - Quote
Kelley Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 You're 'way past boring. Might as well tell us what you're up to. Quote
agep Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Thank you guys! Here is a minor modeling update and a material test. The materials are not final, just for fun Quote
Paul Forwood Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Amazing as always, Stian! It's good to see that you are getting into a bit of grunge now. Quote
agep Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Thanks Paul! Here is an new update that I bet is revealing Quote
animas3D Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Wow. Your work is among the best. And it is proof that Animation Master can achieve the very highest professional standards not only for organic and character modeling (and animation) but for mechanical and architectural applications as well. Looking forward to seeing the model develop. Quote
agep Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Thank you for the heartwarming comments! Here is yet another update. It should be easy to see what the model is going to be? Quote
Xtaz Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Is always a pleasure to see you modeling .... is it a excavator ??? The texture in the steel is very nice !!!! Quote
Admin Rodney Posted February 15, 2008 Admin Posted February 15, 2008 I can feel the weight of it just by looking at it. Heavy! Quote
UNGLAUBLICHUSA Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I must know...the tracks, are the (will they be) rigged? Oh, how lovely they look....I just love anything with tracks on it! I want to have your baby...er, nope - that wouldn't quite work now would it......nevermind the baby thing......love the tracks!!!! Quote
animas3D Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 That's a great electric razor you are making. (Am I right?)... But seriously, I thing the yellow surface on the main body is a little too reflective. It appears a little too glossy, like nail polish. By the way, is all your lighting achieved with AO, or do you also have some lights in the scene? Joe. Quote
Tralfaz Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Holy crap! That is one sweet model Stian. The tracks look nicely weathered and your attention to detail is amazing. Would love to see a wire when you get the chance. Al Quote
tbenefi33 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 excellent work on the model. Keep up the good work. Quote
agep Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Thanks guys! thing the yellow surface on the main body is a little too reflective. It appears a little too glossy, like nail polishI agree. But I haven't worked much with the materials yet. I'll probably tune down the reflectivity some and hopefully add some dirt By the way, is all your lighting achieved with AO, or do you also have some lights in the scene? In this case its just AO Would love to see a wire when you get the chanceOf course, here you go: Quote
agep Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 I must know...the tracks, are the (will they be) rigged? It would be fun to have them rigged, but I've rigged some tracks before (I made a robot with tracks few years ago, with much less tracks), and that was really much work. So I guess I probably wont do it, unless I need the model for some animation Quote
Paul Forwood Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 My guess would be a Liebherr PR752 bulldozer, vintage 1999. but then I'm only guessing. PR752 Quote
agep Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 My guess would be a Liebherr PR752 bulldozer, vintage 1999. but then I'm only guessing. Wha... Huh... How? What? How did you guess that? I'm impressed! However, my dozer is more an frankendozer, due to a mix of various references of the 752, ranging from mid 90's till now. Btw, thanks for the image! I haven't seen this before. Its going to help me a lot. Also, its good to see an image where you see how glossy the paint actually is, when its clean that is Quote
KenH Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Looking good! I was going to say a snow plow. Then Rodney swayed me toward Wall-e.....then no, I stood my ground and it was going to be a snow plow. Nice model Paul! Who done that one? Quote
Camillo Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Very Very Nice agep! Looking forward to seeing the finished model. I also tend to run the patch count extremely high on mechanical models. I like the detail you put into your model. Camillo Quote
agep Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Thanks guys! Here is a new update:) Quote
serg2 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 agep Is more tremendous! Always I admire with your works both your patience and accuracy! You very correctly put illumination of the models Bravo! Quote
Tralfaz Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Great attention to detail Stian. When I look at your model against the real thing, the old Memorex commercial comes to mind... "Is it live or is it Memorex?" It is getting harder to tell the difference with each posting. Al Quote
agep Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Thanks! I've started working on the shovel. I feel that a lot of a bulldozer's identity relies on the shovel, so I think its finally starting to look like something:) Quote
3DArtZ Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Horrible. just totally and completely horrible:) you know I'm kidding. Great stuff! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
John Bigboote Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Powerful stuff, Stian. The chrome exhaust pipe looks out of place...I can't put my finger on why... Quote
Tralfaz Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Powerful stuff, Stian. The chrome exhaust pipe looks out of place...I can't put my finger on why... I am sure this has been asked a million times, but how do you make chrome look like chrome? Thanks... Al Quote
agep Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Thanks guys. The materials is still just for testing. I might adjust them when the model is done I am sure this has been asked a million times, but how do you make chrome look like chrome? Its not the material, but the environment that is the most crucial. Rendering with soft reflections also helps on the look Quote
ruscular Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 when your done with that project, can you convert it to one of these? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/06/17/...ain624297.shtml Apparently, there is more to the story as allegation of improper city council meeting with a intent to take over this guy property. Nonetheless, his bulldozer was pretty awesome and would have won hands down at those wrecking machine cable show. I know you did a car crash animation, plane crashing animation, and I am one step ahead of you and know what your thinking! You are oblige to show us your bulldozer car crushing animation! Quote
animas3D Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Excellent progress since I checked last time. It would be great to see a 360 degree rendered spin on the completed model. By the way, do you work from schematics or blueprints? I cannot imagine eyeballing it to such a high degree of precision. Quote
agep Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 You are oblige to show us your bulldozer car crushing animation! It sure would be cool! But I dont think I have the time to do such a project It would be great to see a 360 degree rendered spin on the completed modelI'll see what I can do about that:) do you work from schematics or blueprints? I cannot imagine eyeballing it to such a high degree of precision.I have a few blueprints (linedrawing) that I use, but they dont match very well. And I have a few photos of it. Some eyeballing do occure though. I've linked to one of the blueprints: blueprint - sideview Here is also a new update: Quote
Tralfaz Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 You are oblige to show us your bulldozer car crushing animation! It sure would be cool! But I dont think I have the time to do such a project So, I guess making a Transformer out of the bulldozer (like your Mustang) is out of the question.... Al Quote
agep Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 So, I guess making a Transformer out of the bulldozer (like your Mustang) is out of the question.... You guessed right for sure That Mustang was a lot of work I tell ya. I had to plan the transformation from the beginning. Here is a new update. I've tried my best to dirt it up, I don't think I can do better than this. It was a good exercise though. Keep in mind its not done yet. I got some more dirt to add (especially on the wheels). Anyway, let me know what you think Quote
Paul Forwood Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 That big boy has been doing some work! You too, Stian. Excellent! Quote
largento Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Spectacular, as always, Stian! Looks better than real. Quote
nimblepix Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 So beautiful! Hopefully you'll be rendering a big one for desktop backgrounds around the world. Quote
Kamikaze Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Man! I feel like I could just climb in and level my driveway..... super model, as usual.... Quote
