Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 21, 2006 Hash Fellow Posted February 21, 2006 It's a classic, the heavy push... I don't think they let you get an animator's license without one. [attachmentid=14573] Edit: The above file is in H.264 here's a smaller version in Sorenson3 [attachmentid=14596] heavypushsmall.mov heavypushsor250.mov Quote
Leo73 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Loved it. Especially the end where he rolls with it and the weight rolls over him. Are you doing the Animation Mentor program, because I get the impression cause the character looks like one they use. I myself am getting ready to apply for the summer term of this year. I really want to hone my character animation skills. Once again great job You nailed that one. Quote
KenH Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Excellent. Love the tremble at the end too. Say hello to Victor when you see him. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Excellent, Robert! You can really feel the effort and the weight. Quote
Dhar Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That's gorgeous. Now why didn't I think of that.? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 21, 2006 Thanks, guys! Are you doing the Animation Mentor program, because I get the impression cause the character looks like one they use. Yes, that's "Stewie", remade in Animation:Master. "Push a heavy object up an incline" was a 2nd quarter assignment. They've changed the curriculum since then, it may be no more. I myself am getting ready to apply for the summer term of this year. I really want to hone my character animation skills. Brush up on your drawing skills between now and then. That's one thing they don't warn you about... you will be expected to make quite a few drawings as part of your assignments. Say hello to Victor when you see him.I haven't had him for a mentor so I haven't run into him yet. But I hear he has a reputation as an extrememly tough grader. Quote
MMZ_TimeLord Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That's wonderful robcat! I really like that last elbow shaking effort to get that cylinder over the edge of the ramp! Gotta be careful how hard you push... you might go over... ... Too late! Quote
strohbehn Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Outstanding work. The back arch reversals play really well. Thanks for posting Robcat. I know it's not relevant what rig was used, but I'm just curious if you used the Squetch rig for this model? Any chance you'd post the model for general use (if not, that's fine)? I just like his look. Quote
KenH Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I haven't had him for a mentor so I haven't run into him yet. I was thinking more of when you join Pixar. Quote
GAngus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Is there a special codec for this file ? I get a quicktime screen with progress bar but to picture. HP Laptop, XP edit: that's NO picture Quote
jakerupert Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Same with me. Quicktimeserver says, that it cant provide codec? Quote
oakchas Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 GA, JR... I get it But I uploaded the latest QT...WITHOUT iTunes... maybe that'll help.. at one point with both, I had to clear the cache every time to view a new mov. Robcat, that was very nice... very good! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 21, 2006 Is there a special codec for this file ? Well, that's what I get for trying to be modern. H.264 is supposed to be a standard QT codec now but I guess they don't have that all worked out yet. I've put a Sorenson3 version up at the top. Sorry for the inconvenience. Quote
Stuart Rogers Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Is there a special codec for this file ? I get a quicktime screen with progress bar but to picture. edit: that's NO picture It uses the H.264 codec, which comes with QT7 (at least, it does on the Mac) - which version of QT are you using? H.264 provides astonishing compression but you need a fair bit of processor power to play it. My 600MHz iBook plays about one frame in 100 for H.264 movies. My solution to this: I simply exported it using the Sorensen 3 codec, and that plays fine for me. I do like this animation - I shall file it away for future reference! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 21, 2006 I know it's not relevant what rig was used, but I'm just curious if you used the Squetch rig for this model? I rigged it with TSM2, which has some squetchy features but I didn't use them this time out. Any chance you'd post the model for general use (if not, that's fine)? I just like his look. No, I can't. I already created "a situation" at the AnimationMentor office last week when i merely revealed i had included one of my models in a bug report to Hash. Quote
KenH Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 No, I can't. Strange....considering you made him in AM and anyone else could do the same. Quote
nixie Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If I had ten percent of your character animation skill, I would be a happy guy... Nixie Quote
Dhar Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I do like this animation - I shall file it away for future reference! That's what I did too. I wish there were some examples like that in bootcamp. Quote
markeh Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Just adding another thumbs up. Exceptional work! Quote
trajcedrv Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Excellent timing, feeling of weight, snappy animation... what can I say more? Quote
Slipin Lizard Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Very nice work indeed. I really like how you used the eyes to add to the effect that he's straining. Really nice look to it, I'd say perfect job! Congrats! Quote
KenH Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 The only crit viewing it frame by frame is his knee goes through the ground on frame 160. Quote
nimblepix Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Super!!!! I wanna be (animate) like you hoo hoo. : ) Quote
dborruso Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 This is a great little animation. I definitely need to work on my animation skills with exercises like this. Really nice job. Maybe when I win lotto I will join you at animation mentor Quote
3DArtZ Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 That was really good!!! ps - I can see why you had so many comments for my flip over the table animation! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
cory Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 It's a classic, the heavy push... I don't think they let you get an animator's license without one. You mean you have to have a license to animate? Oh no! I've been AWOL! (animating without a license) Looks really great! Cory Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted May 18, 2011 Author Hash Fellow Posted May 18, 2011 Can you please upload "Stewie" , remade in AM I can't because, even though i made my own, the school only wants AnimationMentor students to use their characters. It was an extremely basic character and really just a stick figure, however. You can make one better in A:M! Quote
NancyGormezano Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 There is a Robby Model rigged with the 2008 rig in the Example_Models.zip located in this post Robby could be Stewie's twin. Quote
