Hello, this avi-file of a rotating blue light is my first own project outside the exercises and tutorials. Of course, it is not of artistic value. But I hope I can learn from your critics and improve my knowledge on animation:master. The most time I spent by fitting the lighting performance so that the blue light looks as real as possible. Best regards, Wolfgang Bluelight.zip

I'm trying to make an opera scene, and all is going well, but, I don't know how to go about making good curtains that can open and close like real ones would on a stage. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? Thanks! -Robert Lazzarini

I was creating a ship awhile ago (the "Squid ship")..I hadn't finished texturing it or touching up the actions..but check this out...it's supposed to be a spaceship acting as a squid! Squid Push Note: to view you must right click>Save target As>save or Right click>Properties>Copy full address> Paste into address bar> hit go! What I did to achieve: I watch some vids of squids/octopuses and observed the movement and timing..I then took that information and put it into simpler terms (into a cartoony look ship)...If you notice, while the tentacles are going downward you see that they have a slight bend in them for the pressure of the wat…

Hi folks! I've been working on this in my spare time. As I have little experience in building models from scratch this one is a modified Tarzan from the A:M 2004 disk. I've yet to apply textures. What do you think?

Hi Hashers Well I am posting a model that I started a while back for the next Bella Bear story and I wanted you lot to have a look and see what you thought. I am a bit concerned about the leaves on it. Do they look a bit cheapskate being decals or should I try and do something with sprites (not quite sure how do do this)? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have also added a few touches to the Bella Bear website: Bella Bear Website I am currently working on a kinda show reel for my creation to breath life into me characters and I thought I would tart-up the website in the meantime. Not much has changed but any tips on what I should or s…

Check it out! After watching Spongebob I decided to model Squidward's unique house...I haven't "colored" it yet but I'm pretty much done modeling except for the door...since I don't have a lot of time, I might apply it as a decal or something along those lines...:

I was just poking around today with decals and how I can use them to breath life into a character. So far, I was able to give my simple "2 patch count" ninja model about five facial expressions, it worked for his eyes so I know it'll work for his mouth phonemes although I didn't bother making them. Just curious in what some of you think about it... quickface.mov

As requested by Andy, Here is an example of making models for both spline and poly, you can have the best of both world if you are prepared for it. That means you have to find out the poly program you use is compatible when dealing with .OBJ, I use several and found that not all behave the same, so its trial and error. Below is a comparison of the two, first is the spline with no hooks nor 5 point patch, after decal and export in .OBJ then increase spline geometry and re-stamp.

Hey--- I have a new movie on my site http://mcampbell.250free.com showing how I was able to achieve a 'new look' for a toon character using A:M and Photoshop and After Effects. click on the 'toon shader' button. Basicly, the character was already designed for a childrens book and they (the potential client) wanted the SAME look but in motion 3D... I prepped this test in 6 hours...it may sell the gig... I roughly modelled the character in A:M, then did selective renders...tail...skin...shirt...eyes...etc by turning OFF the visibility of everything I DID NOT want rendered and I used an alpha channel...brought the :04 sequences individually into Photoshop where…

hi gang, here is my latest lip synch attempt. this about the 3rd pass. it isn't as lifelike as i want it to be, but it is definitely the closest i have ever come to breathing some life into one of my characters. i guess i am my own worst critic, and i've heard this dialogue so many times that i want to pull my hair out. i love bruce cambell, but i think i have ruined this quote for me....damn. note to self: don't lip synch with something you really like, you will learn to hate it! anyway here it is, let me know what you think! Hi pals, here is my character for the image contest about heroes. His name is "Toribio", but may be I change the name to "Torito" or "SuperT" or another. He is a defensor of the animals's rights and goes to the ruedo (arena) to fight with the toreros and save the condemned bull. Obviously, it's a joke, I do respect all the cultures but I love the animals and I do not like that the animals are mistreated. Now, I'm modeling the body, let me know what you think, any comments about the character and name are appreciated.

Hi - Here is the link to the short film I've been trying to fit in around everything else. Things are finally chugging along so hopefully I'll be able to update this site with some regularity ( I'm sure these are famous last words as the year goes into meltdown) - but oh how I will try. Current wildly optimistic projections have me finishing this sometime in the first quarter of next year. Anyway, enough Blah blah heres the link - look forward to hearing any comments. Hi folks: I finally got around to updating my animation web site after over a year. Please check it out if you're so inclined: http://www.hash.com/users/zachbg/ Comments and crits on the web design are actively encouraged. Comments and crits on the films are also welcome, but they're all finished work, so I'll be listening, but not implementing. Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving to the folks from the States...

Well I wipped up a quick model today in preparation for the December Image contest (shame I can't rig or shade the model as quickly as I can model them ) Take a look and let me know what you think. I'd really love some advice on how to achieve that typical comic book shine and reflectance for the outfit without going toon. Some ideas about heroine fashion wouldn't go astray either (I'm not a comic book reader) http://higginsdj.250free.com/wips.htm Cheers

Hi everyone, It has been a quite a while since I've posted anything here! I have finished a glider design program that teaches the basic concepts behind flight. It comes with 10 pre designed gliders as well as materials for use with sci-projects. The 3D characters used to explain the games portion and the 3D gliders there were made with AM. The rest was done in a different program. you can view the program here: http://www.nc-games.com/glider.html Also I am doing a promotional where the first 10 people to respond will get the code to unlock the full glider program for free. If you are interested, please email: noel@nc-games.com wit…

This image is HOT off the renderer. (3X3 multipass...16 min) Dont touch it or the colors will smear. I have all the bodies modelled except for Micks...rigged Charlie (TSM2...quick...but still having finger troubles) and 'borrowed' and 'modified' the drumset off of Hash.com free models (thanks...somebody, nice kit!) and am now testing a drumming action. I am glad to see there is a new topic 'reusable motions' I can stand to learn a thing or two... I'll post the test movie Monday.

Hi everybody: This was in the WIP section a while back, and it's finally finished. Because of the fact that many of you helped me with your suggestions, I thought I'd post it and let you see the finished piece. The only thing left to do, to finish it completely is to fill the signs, that are sticking up out of the ground, with numbers (this is because it is for a math student textbook). Thank all for the help!!

I just put these two clips together. I am trying to come up with a simple demonstration of Photoshop like image with an alpha channel and why people get those "fringies" and don't know or understand why. Let me know if this is getting the idea across at all... ...uh.. they were done in AM of course, with layers... except the titles... Fringies! AAAHHHHGGGG! YeeHaaa! No fringies! I plan to expand this into a larger, more in depth explanation. Vernon "!" Zehr

hello everyone, i can't believe how simple it is to animate the face with a setup like the one jason osipa sets up in "stop staring". i know this isn't pixar quality, but it is definitely the my best attempt so far at lip synch and this is only the second pass. i haven't touched anything but the lips and jaw, still need to rig the rest of the face....got a bit tired of rigging and wanted to play. anyway here it is (628Kb Sorenson3 Quicktime): LipSynch WIP please.....all critiques are welcome! thanks, dieter

Ok, I'm trying to setup my choreography using a smaller mini-sub that I built. As you will see in the "mini-sized" movie clip the sub comes towards the camera from a distance passing over head, the problem is after the sub passes by- the two lights from the front of the sub re-appear and look like they're moving away from the camera. I though originally that the lights in the sub model had corrupted themselves somehow and so I made a new model using just a light this time. In the Project file I'll post shortly; although the light is behind the camera if you look through the camera it appears that the light is in front of the camera. Is this some sort of funky mirror…

Hi, I have been using A:M since about August, thereabouts and this is easily the most fun I have ever had with a computer! I have to say though, I am overwhelmed with all the different things that a single person can do with A:M and all the thousand little things that need to go in to even a simple animation (i.e., lighting, models, perspective, sets, backgrounds, music, sound effects, etc...) Having said all of that, and after these last few months of trying one thing, only to give up on it and move on to something else new in A:M and then back again... I have FINALLY mangaged to keep myself focused on one project and have put together something longer th…

HOORAH! I'VE ALMOST FINISHED MY FIRST EVER CHARACTER CREATED COMPLETELY BY ME! Surprising considering how long I've been modeling, eh? I never really tried to model any characters because I was scared. Now I am not! Tell me what you think, but try not to ruin my good mood too badly. He's a bank robber for a short my friend wanted me to make. NOTE: It's kind of hard to see the bump map on his hood, (that has the lines like in a ski mask) but they're there and will be visible in close-ups (i hope).
