Hi Hashers Having finished the third and final storyboard for Bella Bear I decided to do some animation with Bella & Hannah. For this I chose a famous scene from a famous film and decided to replace the characters with mine - bit like the 10 Second club. Anyway, here's what I have done so far - I look forward to any coments and criticsms (I wonder if you can guess what film the scene is from ) Doors_Flick.mov

This doesn't quite fit here, and it doesn't quite fit in WIP. I've finished the animation, but I'm still rendering--and will be for some time! The story came from a sound project I did in college a few years ago. Today I realized that it's easy to add pictures to my posts, so this is my second one of the night. Comments/Crits welcome, but I can't change much at this point. I've rendered in multiple passes and composited in photoshop. I'm compositing the final in after effects. Cheers, Matt

Here's a little character I resurrected from a old idea of mine. He's meant to be pretty simple, but I'm not sure he's going to have much emotion without eyebrows, and with button eyes. I was hoping to use mesh deformers on him for some good squash and stretch, but I haven't had much luck or time to experiment with them yet. comments? matt

I am working on a short animation and am doing a run cycle for my character right now. How do I make a run cycle that looks believable? I want him to be running fast, but sort of hopping. He's pretty agile. Even a cycle sheet would be of help.

Spent some more time today trying techniques for compositing shaded dynamic hair. Here's the result so far. New shaded composited hair movie. Total render time on an Athlon 1400 (hair pass and composite pass) was about an hour and a half! Phil

Seeing Johnl3D's Opus inspired me to start working on mine again. I'm still bothered by creases, but I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm getting the hang of splining. Still don't have the mouth done, but I've made some progress. Here are some pics. This is kind of a fake; I'm only doing half and will CFA when it's closer to being done. I just put two instances of the model in the chor and scaled one of them -100 on the x axis.

Someone i know had a schoolproject about future equipments, and he asked for help modelling them... What I had to work from: *He wanted a cellphone with a touchscreen and one button *eye camera attached is the sketch that he made The models that I made are very simple since I didn't want to use to much time on them

I read somewhere that there is a way to make a spiral, kinda like a screw. Is there a plugin for that or an easy way to do it? See the pic for what I am trying to accomplish.

Having finished me third BB storyboard, I decided to do some animation. I started by giving BB some eyebrows, reducing the sharpness on her cheeks and giving her a proper join on her neckline. What do you Hashers think? I have also notice an anomally under her right eye. There is a 5-point patch there and it normal is pointing in the right direction (as on the other side), but whereas it renders fine in model mode it doesn't when I drop it in a choreography with lights. I get that shadow artifact… I am using AM 11.1e on the PC.

This is part of an idea for the DVD ball in out project but I'm wondering if its too weird I animated Shaggy running and saved it with an alpha channel made a flat plane and added hair using the Shaggy animation as the hair image moved the plane in the chor made ball model and roughly animated it as if the crowd of Shaggys were moving it along that needs tweaking But I'm wondering is this too weird of an idea to finish Have a few other ideas Has a deadline been set for entries? q1test.mov

Well, this thread brings together a lot of other stuff I've posted on these boards, so bear with me. I'm still working on the full version of my "bathroom" scene, which is complicated enough that it requires storyboarding. Since the characters and set are already built, why not do the storyboards in 3D? Well, it turns out there are a lot of good reasons why not, but suffice it to say, 3D storyboarding is only worth doing for judging your characters' relative positioning, along with the corresponding camerawork. As soon as you start moving arms and heads, you're gonna wish you'd just picked up a pencil. On the plus side, 3d storyboards sure look a lot pretti…

A number of people left me very nice comments on the AMStills gallery, so I thought a few of you may enjoy seeing a slightly re-worked hi-res version of the pic I entered in the March sci-fi contest. (the hi-res version is attached at the bottom of this post) A few comments on its making: The whole thing is really based on a lot of trickery and forced perspective, when it comes down to it. Luckily you can get away with that in stills most of the time! Breaking it down into parts: The lower city - nearly all of the small buildings are simply boxes with beveled tops. For the hi-res version, I went back in and added in some additional geometry t…

Greetings, Doubtless in over my head here, am looking for some pointers to get this project underway. I have modified the horse model from the 2004 CD to create this deer. I think I have the bones assigned properly, however the pics show an action that contains problem influences. I would like to "simply" bone this thing so I can manipulate the joints. I don't really care about smartskinning it at this time, but I assume that is where the problem lies. I have not checked other bones, there will probably be lots of this kind of thing. I need to be able to manipulate legs, neck, tail, ears without stray bits moving around, so.. where do I dig to uncov…

Hi all - Here is a noob decaling question. The attached model has transparency of 40%. I have applied a decal which clearly is darker than the rest of the model(look at the top of the model - here is more transparent than the face which is the decal). I have matched the colors in my paint program to the model's RGB values. I presume because the model is semi-transparent this accounts for the color differences. Am I correct? How do I get around this? Thanks for any thoughts. Doug

Hi guys, This is my first acting/lypsinc attempt (well actually its the 3rd one but the first two failed miserably). Its not finished yet - the second character is not even timed correctly (i'm a little stuck with him so maybe you have a suggestion) and there's lots of refining to do. mother4.mov Tell me what you think. Any crit is very appreciated.

I've been playing with using lattices in distortion mode lately and found it an incredibly easy and fast way to morph one model into another. The really great thing about it is that all of my facial controls still work nearly perfectly on the new, morphed model. The guy on the left is my original head model. And the fellow on the right is his new African buddy. This took me all of about 45 minutes to do. Neat, huh? I love Animation Master!!!

In light of my coming in 4th for this month's image contest here is the link to a full body turn that I did a couple of weeks ago to see how the model was coming. On this version there was still some texturing to do but you can see a lot of the details. R2 Body Turn (2mb) Here's an early animation I did featuring 2-3-2 conversion. I know the movemtn is jerky bit I just wanted to see how things looked at the time. R2 2-3-2(2mb) Feel free to leave your C&Cs.

Try as I might, I couldn't find a way to convey the scale of the model from one of my image contest entries. I tried several different camera angles, but none of them really said "this thing is freaking huge". Any suggestions? (For reference, here's a streaming QuickTime movie which shows how big it is relative to a human-sized object.)

It took quite awhile to build an character i would like to animate. Now he is nearly finished, waiting to be rigged and i want to show him to you, wondering what you are thinking about this little fellow. Comments of any kind (no God please) are welcome. Ok.. I'd been playing with this idea for quiet sometime. Don't know if you guys know who Edward fudwupper is.. but its one of my favorite kids books from one of my favorite illustrators. I'd allways thought my son Cooper looked a little like Edward.. and I had to give it a shot. The how to; I use photoshop Liquify.. ALL THE TIME... for all sorts of things. From time to time.. I use it like the old morph tools to make funny faces. I took this photo... http://www.colins-loft.net/free/Coopsand.jpg and manipulated it to this in Photoshop.. http://www.colins-loft.net/free/ComicCoop.jpg As I did this.. it struck me that the same thing could be…
