GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).
-Post links to your work, or where your art is being used online (on websites, in games, toons', etc.)

-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

I just downloaded the Mac help file and upzipped it. Inside are three more files. Where do they go? Do I replace the current 'technical reference' folder inside the Animation Masster 15.0 folder?

Hello again - been quite some time since I played w/ this program, so having to relearn - so probably many more questions to come. I have half of a circular tube - I had a full circular tube, but screwed it up, so now I have a half. I need to copy/flip/attach it but where do I put it to do that - it sets it right next to it. -Thanks

ok going through some of my models i wanted to try an optical camo on a unit , if you dont now what that is its a sort of cloak per say , unlike say a standard cloak a optical camo is more like im putting a tv in frount om me and a camera behind me on every section of my body, a good example of this is from phantom crash . in essence the body becomes clear bu the bacground is distorted due to the buold of the body.

I have tried many video players from the internet and even found that AM when importing jpgs animation can play clips by opening the image and hitting the "play" button in the playback bar at the bottom. (something that would have been handy to know yrs. ago.) But it plays slowly first time and then at hyper speed or unpredictable speed after 1st time. And the windows playback is just as unpredictable. My question is-Anyone know of a good player? Need'nt point out how much an animator needs to see stuff play in real (correct) time. Any help appreciated (sorry, no cash awards)

ok here the deal in order to make a laser that actaly works for what i need i had to make the beam about 10000 cm long , my question is is there a way to asign a model a value that would cause any part of another model to no longer show up , ie putting a block of this model behind a giant robot so the beam is hitting it and not just passing through it?

whenever i pick [new] [dopesheet], and i type "i've got a secret. can you keep a secret? didn't think so", a window comes up that reads: dictionary modified or index file missing. recreat index file. ok. so i click ok since that is the only option. then a window pops open that reads: locate file:/application/animation master 12.0/index.i and it gives you opeians to enable I files (*.i) but first of all i have no idea what to choose. hash 2006 is an option because my only other options are my hard drive, network, or users. in the hash2006 no matter what i click on i can't open anything and i can't find the dictionary, or indes files, or dictionary index files or wh…

I would like to insert some headlights, brakelights, turninglights into my carmodell. I tried some on/off pose with a glow, but cant see it in the chor. Is this the poper way anyhow? I guess I could insert some lights directly into the modell, but dont Know, how this is done, especially with the blinking or on/off function. Any hints or any examples I could take a look at? Hi to all, I have a problem with AMWeb 15.0b and the SimbiontAM plugin. Changes in the material properties are not rendered in the material preview until I click on the preview window. When the material is already applied to an object, the changes are not visible on the object, until I delete the material and apply it new. Also some tweaks I made on the material are only changed in the material preview, but not at all on the objects surface the material is applied to. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Frank

Need some help with decals. All of the decals tutorials use photoshop pro but I have paintshop pro. I would like to use the eyes from Miki model on my model. Here is a shot of my anime face model(center). The left model was a modified face from Miki model. I remade the face so it is easier to rig. But since the eyes are spherical and not cylinders and I am missing a step or two in applying the decal I have been having problem applying the decal

I built my first character and gave her bones and made her run. I selected the skirt and made it cloth, and it flaps around in a really cool way, but her legs pass through the skirt. This happened before I made it into cloth, too, but now it's just more of a glaringly obvious problem. Basically, I'm looking for guidance to the right place to look. Am I supposed to fix this with constraints, or is there another path to the solution? Is there a property I can assign to the skirt so that I don't have to reset those properties every time I load the character into a choreography or action?

Hi! I have a question and dont know if it is possible to do that. I animated something. Now I realized, that I should use several Chereographie-Actions for my Character which will hold several different bones in them to easily blend between reuseable actions etc. So I want to transfer one "bone" (for example the Animation-Channels of the Model Bone) to another Chereo. How can I do that? I tried to drag and drop the bone to the next chereo, but that doesnt work. I would prefer not to copy pase every keyframe to the new action, so is there a different way? ok futhering my work on trying to make my dark matter effects i found that one basic once can be created by using toon lines, but this seams to be a full on off aspect. is there a way to render one object with toons on while the rest of the sceen stays normal?

I rendered out a shaded wireframe AVI of my chroegraphy - a landspeeder driving round a crater. Everything looked OK so I set it to work on a final, multipass version as a series of TGAs (for the alpha - the crater is "live action") and went to bed. Just before the halfway mark, for three frames, there is a big jitter in the placement of the vehicle and its transparency. I think that it's something to do with the rotation around Y passing the 360 degree mark, and over the four passes it's coming out as a different position. I don't know why it should flash about the frame so wildly, though. There are no keyframes at that point. I've attached a render of four sec…

Trying to get a Leafy type material using the hair function but can't shape like it shows in the tech manual (Sutton's Dodo bird) using the thickness timeline. Keep getting this octoganal shape instead of a smooth curve (see image). Render is set to multi pass final quality. Any help appreciated.

Hey everyone, I havent been on animation master in a while. I finaly got back into it. im making a snake thing that has fins. In the picture below, i have the basic layout of it. the top head part is a brown color and is controling the whole thing with that bone. i want to add 2 new bones on each fin as drawn in red. i want the bones to move with the head but also move on there own. I for got how to do this. Can anyone help?

ok, what happened was that there were constraints for the feet to make feet targets and i removed them (because i wanted to use the simpler IK system instead), now, i followed the steps for a basic IK system for them, but the problem is, i try to move the feet in a choreography and it wont let me, any ideas?

i recentaly saw a cool wizzard use in witch a font wizzard was used to make a fish that was golden brown and still smiling and that got me thining , is there a wizard that would take a picture and create a model from it ( noting that it woud need to be cleaned up ) .

mirror an action... Let's say keekat is dancing on stage in front of a bunch of other keekats. the keekats in the audience are following his actions... but they are wrong because they are mirrors... keekat stops shakes his head and turns around, back to audience, to show them that they are doing it wrong.... they get it and start doing it correctly. and, with the jump action in the library, i'd like to have the charachter jump forward... and then by doubling the lenght of the action... reverse his jump... is there an easy way to do these things... ? To make the texture of my eyeballs, I just use the one that is already in the program. (The one under Toon Nation). Everytime I use this the pupils never show up. The only time that the pupil does show up is when i make only one eyeball. I really need help on this.

Hi - Work mellowed out a bit, so I just started back up modeling a motorcycle from a few months back, and I am working on the tires and need some suggestions on how to put tread on a tire w/o the use of a decal. I did a seach, but didn't really come up w/ anything. I created a torus, but not sure where to go from there. Ok, this is driving me nuts. I've been working on this for a few days now: I'm making an introduction for a video my 4th graders are going to make. The animation is just an intro I'm doing, not the whole movie. I watched the video "constraints and compensate mode" prior to doing this: 1. I made the two models. The idea is the eraser model is going to carry in models I made of of our textbooks. 2. The Eraser model has the Hash 2001 rig, and it works...that is a whole another story. 3. Hello - it's been a few weeks, been working on another tooth animation - hope everyone is doing good. Have a small issue I have a model in a chor and had to make some changes to it, but wasn't sure if the changes were going to work - so I renamed it so I wouldn't effect the original if it didn't come out right. The original is in the chor as "impression2" - the one I want to use is called "impressionFinal". Is it possible to point it to that, so I don't have to go in and redue that portion of the chor? Hi - I am working on another dental animation and need to show a hot stimulus on the teeth to show expansion and decided to use a cup of coffee - does anyone have a steaming cup of coffee they have done, that they can show me, so I can get a visual of how you did the steam, or something similiar that is "steaming". ok in the sharp lines on the face i made post there was belive it or not a movie to show me how to redirect splines (THANKS) and somethin gthat was shown was the ability to move a cp along a spline with out actauly moving the spline , i coundent quite make out the buttion that was said. any one know?

I'm having a bit of a problem with a model I'm working on. Some of the CPs & splines are pale blue, not the usual red/white combo. I can't select the CPs (even with {Ctrl-A}). The attached image shows the problem areas, surrounded by red splodges. I think what I'm doing wrong is something very basic, but I can't begin to think what it is. Any of the experts care to shed some light...?

OK...i've finally moved to California, so now I have time to concentrate on this program. I want to upload my first animations "Knight Pitch" file. But this forum says i'm not allowed to upload "this type of file". It's an "AVI". What do I have to do to upload this? Hi - I created a hair material and applied it to two seperate groups - one above the eye on the eyelid and one below on the lower eyelid. I created a pose slider "eyes closed" - when I moved the eyelids down in the closed motion the eyelid hair stayed where it was and kinda stretched it down - even though the group it was attached to "eyelid" moved down. Can I not do what I am trying to do, or am I doing something wrong. - Thanks E

Hi everyone, I'm kinda new in Animation Master, I use version 11.0 (I know that I really have to upgrade) and I made this lantern a few days ago I would like to use it in some sort of project later on and I was wondering how I could light the bulp inside the lantern in way that it'll also light up the objects around it in and it would be nicer if it could have an orange tone I have tried simply inserting a light object inside the lantern but it hasn't really worked out how I imagined it would, it only lit inside the lantern I have attached 2 different pictures and the project file to this post Thank you for your patience [Please do not take credit for …
