Hello I've just bought animation master, and I try some basic animation (bouncing ball, etc). But in the graph editor, I can't display bezier handle (spline interpolation is selected). It's possible to display bezier handle since I've seen animation master tutorial where people clic on keyframe to display bezier handle. I've search the forum for bezier handle but get no result found. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me. Regards Mitab

I am trying to get a linocut look in A:M. Something like this (linocut by danish artist Palle Nielsen): The closest I can get is this (done with the Grid material in A:M): But I would very much like to be able to let the grid follow the surface on the organic forms, and also to get variation in the type of crosshatching/lines. everytime i close and reopen a:m the "draw particles / hair" option is set to on, regardless if i´ve set it to off the session before. in my current project i always forget that when i´m opening the project, and when i want to scrub through the timeline, a:m starts calculating the particles (i´ve a sprite system set up), which can take up to 10 minutes or so, depending on the number of frames it has to calculate. the active-status the model which emits the particles is set to off, so i wonder why a:m is calculating the particles anyway... any advice?

Hey Everyone. I have a chain of bones. (Bone 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) I'm constraining them to a spline using a path constraint. I want them to move along the path keeping their distance. But when I constrain each bone to the path, they attach to the same start point right on top of each other. Is there a way to offset each bone so that the chain does not group together to follow the path? Thanks, William

Retopology is good with the possibility of a bake of texture. This allow to use sculpted objects in AM to create characters and textures. Of course unwrap would be great too. It is clear that it is not easy to work with software like zbrush and 3dcoat when using AM. Because there is no possibility to bake a texture from a props. Xnormal is a software to do this but it's not AM. With the same option we can do all we want in AM. Stop with export and bad UV. That doesn't work. Just retopo and bake

A quick one: is it possible to shift the position that a layer is rotating around? OR is it possible to assign a bone to a layer (without making any splines)? Need to swing a door (the layer) open.

When starting A:M up, the program suddenly stops loading, displaying this message: It just sits there for 20 seconds, then continue and complete loading. I am not sure if this is a new behaviour, but I think so. I then tried opening the community service tab in A:M with the purpose of changing what I thought to be a setting, so A:M would load without trying to connect to community service. I couldn't find any settings there, just the login screen. Then tried to log on, and guess what happened: yes, exactly: it halted for 20 seconds and then came with this message: I am not interested in using community service (from inside A:M anyhow) so ho…

I would like to test if it is possible to animate a model in Animation Master and then use the action file to control an animatronic version of the model in the real World. I wonder if there is any documentation about the contents of the Animation Master action files? It would be more efficient to read a specification instead of just guessing and testing... (The idea is to translate the pose values into commands to Control servos in an Arduino setup.)

connecting with proper splinage Anyone care to take a stab at it? Unfortunately you can not just lay the 2 pieces next to the hinge because the maker bot rep 2 will not print them correctly. For the most part makerbot seems to need most things to be splinedproperly in Am. hingeV2_11.prj

It's been a while since I've done this - I have a string of tga files (0000 - 0600) and want to apply them as a moving decal. As I recall, I only have to apply the first in the series, and the rest will follow automatically. It doesn't seem to be working - the image stays frozen on the first frame. I've put a few of them in the decal folder, thinking perhaps they need to be there and not just in the images folder, but that is not working either. I made an action, wherein the object the decal is applied to moves slightly, but still no luck. I've looked for the subject in the techref manuel but can't find it. Perhaps also someone could let me know where it is in the m…

Couldn't find any thread on this subject (?), so I'll start one here: 1) Ability to auto unwrap and save real UV-maps, including ability to mark seams. (Would save so much time and work) 2) Option in preferences to select default spline interpolation in action/choreography (Indispensable!!) 3) Option to select the visual representation of bones. Especially to stick-look. (Less cluttering when animating) 4) Ability to utilise multicore processors inside A:M. (Greater speed all around) 5) Ability to do graphics processor/GPU rendering. (Much greater render speed in some instances)

Hi, just wanted to show something cool in the next release of A:M. The plugin Amplitude will be able to use a WAV-file and control any kind of animation-channel (like a pose, a bones rotation, translation, etc.) with the amplitude of the soundfile. Two very small example can be seen attached. The first one is created from several single-tracks (so that the instruments are playing solo in the tracks and control each one "instrument"). The second one is a part of a nightcore-song which will control the height of a model (better to say a pose which controls the height of a model). Of slight interest perhaps. I'm rendering exactly the same scene, with the same settings, at the same time, using V15 and V17 on my Imac. The V17 frames are going through at 2mins02 average and the V15 frames at 5mins 29. Quite a difference ! simon

I recently updated to V17 and am using it to render while animating in V15 at the same time. I will move over to V17 when I get the current short done. In the meantime I have a couple of questions on some changes that seem to have happened between the versions on the way the projects are saved. I'm used to the way V15 saves out the projects as separate files and have adapted to that system. In V17 it seems to save it out to separate folders each time with the file structure sequence inside ? Also, the previous project does not load automatically when the program is opened and needs to be selected under the project heading on the top menu. These are minor…

Hi there, now i am in big trouble: I "recovered" my pc, and by doing so, i killed my installed AM as well as the install files, and i have noting left at all. Basicly its the very same computer, because no hardware changes, just that recovery thing. My AM licence was good for another 9 month. Is there a way how that can be fixed again? Best regards Heiner

I'm doing some work with a student designing a perfume bottle. She wants the bottle to have a colour and transparency gradient so that its darker and less transparent at the top. I'm following Roberts suggestion regarding materials for my own animation were I need a heat transfer, but wondered if there might be a different way of doing it with the bottle ? So I learned my lesson never leave home with out a laptop. I'm sorry for the delay in getting the fix installed. But everything is fixed and running like it should. I should have been able to fix it from my phone but the last software update disabled the 'shift' key in a lot of apps I use. Which is not the best for working in a OS that is case sensitive. Once again sorry for the long outage.

Hi, This is very strange! On my notebook (btw, I don't have this problem on my desktop) if for example I hit 't' for turn, the icon comes 'on', the mouse cursor changes correctly but turn doesn't work. If I select the turn icon, it works. Same with other tools. Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas on how I might fix this or what I might try or how I might trouble shoot this? Thanks! Rusty

Hi! Question 1: It use to be that to do a really clean uninstall of AM you had to search through the registry for "hash" and remove a couple of entries. It seems like Hash has to its credit added the removal of registry entries to its uninstall process. Besides "hash" is there anything else I should search for? Question 2: During the install there are now several options. One is whether or not to install SSE4. What is SSE4 and, if you know, the pros and cons of installing it? Hi, I want to know more about the pros and cons of embedding resources in a project (and therefore embedding in the chor). For myself, I have since my own 'dawn of time' with A:M embedded everything, always. Why? Dependability and minimizing loss is always my first priority. And, probably around 10 years ago I started embedding everything for that reason alone--I seemed to have less problems doing it this way. Part of this was that separating the current ongoing work from the resources I had on disk isolated and protected those resources. I ran into situations where A:M crashed, my PC crashed, there was a power outage, I screwed things up and could not undo…

Hi, I'm not sure this is a bug or a restriction or due to a model creared in an eariler version or model corruption or perhaps the way I'm doing it. Anyone seen, know anything about or have a work around for chor constraints that won't work after you save/close/reopen. These constraints are from one model to another model to bones deep within a char rig. This is a huge deal with my current project and any help from the community would be greatly appreciated!! Hi, Okay...when did you people move from saving mainly the project file to mainly saving the chor file? Why did you do this? What advantages does this have? Is there really 'any' difference besides the .prj and .cho file extensions? What else is there to this? What else, if anything, are you using chor files for? FYI: I have only used saving chor files for large models that exceed what I call the workable patch limit--once you pass a certain patch count (at least in V14) response time becomes unworkable. I dropped my rotoscope into model window and when I try to open a second window for side view and drop the rotoscope in it does not show up. I want to know what I am doing wrong and if I can have the second window be model instead of choreography? God I hope this made sense.

Hi again, There use to be a second install file which added other files that AM needed--has this been done away with? Also, use to be that on each AM CD you got models, materials, etc. Sometimes new items were added. Does the 'data' file contents still exist for V17? Thanks again! Rusty

To attempt to resolve a weird problem I want to reinstall AM on my notebook however I can't find my license (or activation number). I did a search and found a post which says 'just go to the hash site and to your account' but I see no way to do this...no login screen or 'my account'. In the help for A:M 10.5 there is reference to surface properties Average Normals and Normal Weight. I can't seem to find them the the properties for an object I have in a Model window. The reference says: I read some other posts that say you need to toggle "Render As Lines" on the group under "Groups" for your model, and then the properties will show up. Hasn't worked for me. Also, some suggest you need to first apply the Porcelain material to your model. I did that (dragged onto model), but still don't see the "Average Normals" property, and do not see these properties anywhere. Is there an "Advanced" mode I need to engage to see these propert…

OK, I have a path (a spline with 3 CP's) I have constrained my Camera to the path (Path Constraint) and I have also contrained the camera to aim at a null. Camera jumps to the path and travels along it BUT only travels 1/2 between the first and second CP (100% enforcement at chor end) BUT it also behaves like it is pointing at the null as if it has travelled the full length of the path. Obviously I am missing something here... Partially solved. Chor length was set too long. Edit - Fixed by deleting the path and camera constraints then doing it again.... Not sure what went wrong but it's working now.... Cheers

Ok , I'm not sure what it is I am doing wrong or going on! ...but in V 17b and now 17c (64bit Win7) .....when I click on simulate simcloth I crash AM.....it sims fine in 17a 64 bit Win7.....also project works in 17c 32bit.... I'm trying to submit a bug report to Hash Reports but the max. attached file limit is 26,214k. I'm making v17e choke during a single frame render with a combination of models, materials and decals that generates a zip file just under 115,000k. I can't reduce the data set because then A:M doesn't hang. Any alternatives for uploading this much data?

One has to give thanks to the small development team of Hash for continually working on bugs and fixing them. The version 17 cycyle has already gotten up to a letter g . that kind of TLC to a mature product is encouraging and comforting. Thanks.

I think it's time for me to get into the new version mode (still using v.11 or something). I wish you guys still supported the Hasp dongles, they were great. I have some questions before paying which aren't obvious on the store site. If I get the subscription version ($79), will it expire one year from the date of purchase/activation? At that point will it cease to work on my computer until I pay for a new subscription? If my computer crashes is it a simple process to regain access to my purchased version via re-install/online re-register (same day, even on weekends)? Hey Gang, I finally got a chance to try out the new V17 Retopology Tool, and I think it is pretty well thought feature. Kudos to Steffen! I know at this time V17 is in alpha and a lot of people don't have access, but will eventually and here is my 'illustrated' guide to getting the tool up and running. Seems that the AM colour picker does not allow for entry of the full range available apps (Paint.net, Photoshop, Gimp etc) or it uses its own scale. The colour I want is R 209, G 154, B 98 but do you think AM will let me enter 209 - No. So what do I do to try to match colours? Actually it looks like a defect with the colour picker value entry fields - they restrict users to 2 digits only....

V13 worked pretty good since last week. Suddenly I could not open the libraries, only posteffect works. All pathes under -Options- Folders- are ok. So I tried to reinstall the version new, but deinstallation is not possible, I always get the the message could not open INSTALL.LOG file. The same occurs when I try to deinstall V12 on my computer. Any idea what`s to do?

Hello- I was playing around with hair and decided that because of the complexity of the final model, I would create the hair separately as another "object" and then copy, paste it onto the final model when the hair was groomed perfect. That seemed to work OK when the Hair was a "material" that was applied to model "patches" however, when I tried the same thing using hair on a SINGLE spline with a "Shag emitter" material applied it only copied the spline and NOT the hair "Shag emitter" with it. A question for anyone whose has worked through some of the exercises in "Animation:Master - A Complete Guilde" by Rogers, 2007: In chapter 4, "Action Basics", on animating the flour sack in an Action window, after you lay down the basic "hopping" animation, the author instructs you to refine the action using Muscle mode and doing some overshoot of the "ears". The idea is to use the "group" tool to select a single CP at the tip of the ear, and then use the "rotate manipulator" to lag the ear behind the fast motion of the torso. You can now upload the videos and they should play like they use to. After the 'hack' I did an update and reinstall when we first got the software it was not working so I had clip-share log in and fix it. They never told me what they did and if an update would break it. Well it ends up the update did break it the use "-vop" not more supported "-vf" so it's fixed and if there is an update again I will remember to check that. Now I just need to get the YouTube uploader installed again and that will be done and I can get back to vintagefilms. I sent a email to the people that lost videos in this since the master was lost too.

I am about to upgrade to V17 and presently run an Imac. My understanding is that 64bit is not available for the Mac as yet (?) but wondered what the advantages of 64bit over 32 bit are ? The reason for the question is that, if the benefits are worth while I was thinking of getting a PC laptop with W7 64bit and either getting my brother ( techy to the extreme ) to make it dual boot with OSX or use it to render work made and animated on the Imac. I hope this is not an inappropriate Question. regards simon
