mtpeak2 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 When I was working on the "Bus Stop" set, for the forum project, there was a few people that wanted multiple sets. I had a few ideas, but there was not enough time with the deadline Robert set for the project. This was something I've been wanting to do for awhile, but never got around to it. There's still alot to do, but I figured I would post my progress on it. Quote
pixelplucker Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Looks Great. Nice film grain to the image, was that done in the render? Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks Ken. The film grain look is most likely do to the bump textures and AO. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Great looking set, Mark! Keep it going. Quote
*A:M User* Shelton Posted August 1, 2010 *A:M User* Posted August 1, 2010 Mark I have been starting and stopping on my city scene and wow. Steve Quote
Darkwing Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 That is simply beautiful. Those textures are so fantastic, I feel like I could reach out and touch them! Quote
John Bigboote Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 LOVE IT! I say it's still early, it should be discussed... but THIS looks more like where a bus stop would be... and it matches the vision I had in my head to a TEE! Great work! Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks guys. Added handrails, but I think I'm going to change the rails on the center building. I also made this so it is tilable. I created an assembly action using the street model and added the 3 buildings as action objects. Then in the chor I added 3 street models and applied the action to all 3 models. I may add poses for each building model to vary the texturing. Quote

dblhelix Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 - - - you - - people! you did not make those doors? did you make those doors? is that timber? officially passing out, three, two - Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 No, the doors are just decaled patches. Here's a test render using 8 street models (24 buildings) and wireframe. It rendered surprisingly fast. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted August 2, 2010 Admin Posted August 2, 2010 Wow. Just when I think you've expended all of your energies on your last project, you go and post more great ideas/images like this. What perhaps is most impressive is that yours is 'thinking art'. The tiling aspect of this project demonstrates clearly that part. Highly impressed with you Mark. (again!) Quote
TheSpleen Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 This one needs a single piece of paper flying around. Quote
itsjustme Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Great work, as usual, Mark! Very impressive stuff. Quote
johnl3d Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Great models and set must ahve a great computer to handle that kind on spinage Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks again guys. Here's an update. I'm debating whether or not to add the lights to both sides of the street (the lights may change, found these on the extra cd). Still alot to do, but it's getting there. This rendered in just under 13 mins. Quote
Darkwing Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Wow, just incredible. The splining is so clean too but that last pic is beautiful. What does it look like with lights on the others side? I think I'd be inclined just to leave it with lights on one side just because it looks clean and not overly busy Quote
agep Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Very nice work Mark. What kind of lighting do you use? Quote
nimblepix Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Wow, a beautiful set for an endless number of stories. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks. Stian, it pretty basic, 1 z-buffer kleig and AO. Quote
pixelplucker Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Can you post your render settings? I used to use 2-4% noise on my renders back in my old EI days. Your images do look better Quote
dblhelix Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 This one needs a single piece of paper flying around. the tricycle from the other thread! (then a piece of paper whizzing by camera with the biohazard symbol on it.) sorry. innate gloom (with a side of morbid) seeping thorugh cracks produced by insecurities stemming from a creeping suspicion this is all just one big joke meant to intimidate newbies. <_> keeping a close eye on you. pixelplucker Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Settings are pretty simple, thanks for posting. Quote
kwhitaker Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Wow! so realistic, your so talented. I'm a fan Quote

As soon as I saw this thread this morning the image that came to mind was Oscar the Grouch's garbage can on the sidewalk (with Oscar of course)... Quote
Gerry Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 sorry. innate gloom (with a side of morbid) seeping thorugh cracks It's not your imagination, this set looks post-apocalyptic. In a good way! Quote
TheSpleen Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 desolate yet wonderful modeling still needs that single piece of paper flying around. Quote
Rob_T Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Amazing.. just amazing. I hope the neighborhood I'm building for Remedy looks half this good in toon when I'm done with it.... actually half as good is my pie in the sky prayer... just wow dude. Quote
itsjustme Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 You're making all of us look bad! I love it, Mark! Quote
mtpeak2 Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 You're making all of us look bad! I love it, Mark! I don't know about that David. The modeling is pretty basic, nothing fancy here. Alot of the parts are just modified cube models from the A:M cd. Now Stian, on the other hand, makes us all look bad. Quote
dblhelix Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 And I make everyone here look good. (YOU'RE BOGARTING THE THRONE. HUDDLE HUDDLE!) Quote
