  1. That looks promising! If she's actually going to be walking, the mechanics of those birds perched on her shoulders is going to be... really hard.
  2. That's cute. I remember you were wondering how to do the feathers. What did you end up using?
  3. That's a topic so big there isn't a word to describe how huge and diverse it is. Much depends on what you are trying to make.
  4. I only have small knowledge of Rush so I don't know if they are that reserved in their actual stage performance, but I can imagine putting a lot more "body language" into the playing motions.
  5. BTW, the Help>Help topics file does cover booleans. search on boolean will get you "Specified Booleans" and that has some images and explanation.
  6. Ther are probably several classic cartoons with such a character. You might look at those to see how they handled the shell.
  7. That looks excellent!
  8. In A:M it means using one shape to cut out a portion of another shape. Kind of like the bite out of an apple. A:M's booleans work in renders, meaning they dont' actually change the mesh of either object.

    Nulls

And if you haven't rigged a character before, I'd strongly recommend installing one of the already-invented rigs that are around for your first time out. "The Art of A:M" shows how to install the AM2001 rig
  10. the "ground" the is in the default chor doesn't have enough patches to make an interesting terrain. Better to make a denser grid and deform it. Someone around here made a terrain wizard plugin. Perhaps someone will pop in with a link.

    Nulls

What do you mean by "assigning nulls"?
  12. I sort of prefer the second tortoise look. Why didn't you like him?
  13. that sounds like the bones have the wrong heirarchy (the bones of one finger are mistakenly children of another finger bone). you can rearrange that in the project workspace window. Objects>your character name> bones
  14. post a closeup wireframe with the bones or some animation showing the bones, ask some specific questions and someone will probably jump in with an answer.
  15. hey, that's a pretty good godzilla.
  16. I am curious to find out what the punch line is. I think the dramatic pauses may be a bit too dramatically long.

    Beechcrash

Good looking shot! I think more, smaller particles, and more than one kind would help the smoke. Real smoke would have a billowing effect that would be hard to do with particles. You've matched the lighting real well. Even though the camera is panning slow, you could still have it crash faster. It would just go out of frame a bit more before the camera caught up.
  18. definitely do all the modeling exercises in "The Art of A:M" and then ask specific questions here when you have them.
  19. Great looking characters! Kelley is right, those are models of economy!
  20. Looks wonderful!
  21. I found it. Good looking characters! Now I know what Spanish with a Transylvanian accent sounds like.
  22. The best roach poem I've heard all year.
  23. I'm pretty sure the 2001 rig isn't supposed to have the hand nulls as children of the hips. It's not that way on theThom model.
  24. Sorry, I guess I missed the Thanksgiving Special.
  25. If you weren't here three four years five years ago this will seem brand new! Just change the 05 at the end to an 08 an 09 a brand, spanking new 10. Those Holiday Memories
