Hi folks, I was asked at work to create a device that would wash solar panels. A dusty solar panel can have an efficiency reduction of 40%. The forensic lab [attachmentid=17841] that is under my care (I'm a stationary building engineer), has the whole roof covered with photovoltaic (solar) panels that generates its own electricity (under optimum conditions). Cleaning the dust from such a massive solar farm proved to be difficult, so, I devised this hi-pressure water sprayer that guides itself on the panel and the operator simply pushes the pressure line up and down the panels. I made this a couple of days ago just to try out pose-to-pose animation for the first time. It was a kinda messy attempt, but I learned some from it and hope to use the experience in my next attempts. I'm mainly looking for suggestions/critiques but comments are always nice too. [attachmentid=17879] This is an Updated Video(7-1-06) Used a Displacement Map for this terrain. Did the camera movements, then recorded to .mov; then used the .mov file as a layer. Simply dropped in the "Cockpit" model and positioned it to the camera and re-recorded the animation. NOTE 1: I had to use .wmv because of file size. I dont know if I can get away with posting a zip- file (.avi/.mov) of 1.9mb size? If I can, itll be posted on a NEW POST. NOTE 2: It says .avi when downloading, but its actually a .wmv? I've been kicking around the idea of doing a series set in an RPG video game world for a while now. It seems like a great idea for a web series, with low resolution video, low patch-count models, and low res textures. Lower production value all around! I already have a lot of backround notes, and switching to shorter episodes for web-release should make writing a lot easier. I've modeled the low patch figures already, and I've got the female model assembled, mapped, and textured. I just need to rig her. The male model will be next to finish. I hesitate to post this in Showcase, these clips are mostly execises and wips, but since I probably will not revisit most of them I'll consider them finished. These were done with versions 8.5 all the way thru ver 12. All models are mine with the exception of one clip that contains the Mt Hash model in the background, and of course, Thom and the Knight's helmet and sword. I finished this a few weeks ago for a video documentary. The rockslide is all Newton - I shaped the mountainside to direct the rocks onto our slow response digger worker. Thankfully, he survived the incident. link to video

So far so good... (6-17-06) Spent the WHOLE day on this sucker, making changes and touching up with Displays and other controls. Also added color for more interest... hey guys havent been around for a while been busy with life and stuff but now im jumping back into this with both feet! i have been given the privlige to work on a space type game. so far the game producer wants me to show some concept models for the game and tweak as as i go along. so i started with making a ship some floating rocks and space station (the earth was from a project i did last year just threw it in there) i was hoping you guys can give a few tips for designing for a game which i have never done before and i know its going to diffrent. so take a look at some of the stuff i have now and tell me wht you think video

Hey, this is a short animation I put together this afternoon. I was having some problems with making the boomerang spin properly (see the New User forum for more info), but I am relatively pleased with this animation. I was experimenting with the Newton Physics in v13 Alpha and found that it is working much better than before. In the attached movie clip you can see several oddly shaped objects falling on top of each other. The lighting is done with Ambient Occlusion and took 33 minutes to render. To set up a sequence like this make any object like a ball and throw it into the choreography. Next you are going to have to set which objects will be used in the simulation. To do this click an object you want to use in the simulation. Go to Plug-in Properties, then Newton Dynamics, and turn Use in Simulation to On. Then you are going to set whether it is a static object or a dynamic obj…

My friend and I are totally lazy and we both know it. So we put together a weekly challenge for ourselves. I have to do so many seconds of animation per week, he has to draw 3 full-size comic pages a week for his webcomic. Due mondays, losers buy lunch. Here's what I've got after week one, I'll update each week. Well its time again for my annual student film. This year "turtles & dominos (or dominoes)" with a title still in the works. So far the story about a turtle who is finishing a large domino setup when his nephew is dropped over for a visit. Based on an encounter with my own nephew. The rules: as 2nd year students we are abided to.... - not exceed 3 min - allowed to have selective color - dialouge - sync sound A relatively up-to-date "nephew" wire render. Enjoy.

Here is an acoustic guitar that i have started modeling and getting some of the decaling, texturing done out of the way. Once I build the neck, I am curious on how to make the strings twang when I animate it , when the strings are strummed. If anyone can shed light on the subject please let me know, I have an idea, but whethere to use dynamcis or just completely hand animate it all is gonna be a pain in the butt. I have two decals on the model, one I had for the decorative ring around the pickup, When I put the wood decal on, it put itself over it, is there any way possible in order to bring the decorative ring in front , on top ? hi all i started working on my car modeling tutorial....but before i go on, there're some questions which i want to ask: 1- beveling...car body parts are rounded beveled..i've tried to use the bevel plugin but it doesn't work at all...and if i try to bevel it manualy the spline which is connected to the beveled spline curve lose its curve smoothness and bias values..i have version11,how can i have a perfect rounded bevel for the front hood for example. 2- each time i try to add a CP in a spline curve, the curve become unsmooth..and the bias values changes...is there a way to avoid this? 3- what's the best way to write a tutorial...as a PDF file, as a w…

Hey all! I'm new to modeling in Animation Master. I have tons of experience poly modeling in Max, but dealing with splines and patches is a bit new to me. Anyway, I'm currently in the process of modeling a pig for a project, but I'm having lots of creasing issues. I've gotten the hang of getting rid of most of them, but I'm not sure how to approach creases in a 5-point patch. Can anyone provide any guidance? Should I even be using 5-point patches where I'm using them? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [attachmentid=15891]

Hey guys! I entered an art competition for my congressional district and (obviously) I used AM to make my entry! The top 3 winners got scholarships to the Art Institute of Atlanta. Unfortunately, I didn't win. Though I have been told that the judges were REALLY looking at it and that it got several "OOh"s and "Aah."s when the staff was hanging it up. No worrys! Now I can hang it up in my room. The Picture A couple notes: -This is about 2 weeks of work. -The printed version has twice the resolution and is 24 by 24 inches. -The shuttle's front windows aren't there as no one can see them in the shot. So....How am I doing?
