The Model to resemble the UV map, you can edit and re-stamp without going into UV edit because the model is the UV. Sculpting the geometry in "Action" and edit in "Object" Export to OBJ, weld & fine tune in polygon and painting in Zbrush. Introducing my solution to texture AM model in Zbrush, modeling took place in "Action" while the actual geometry look like the UV mesh, I get the best of both worlds. Download this example prj at: http://www.3d-assets.info/images/hash%20prj/index.htm Model is folded togather from separate parts and additional spline were used as alternative to bias handle, stay tune for more to come.

As you may have noticed, some tools (Adobe Premiere, for instance) don't like the A:M file sequence numbering convention, so they have difficulty importing a complete file sequence generated in A:M. (They really should have an option for this convention.) A:M numbers files myfile0.tga, myfile1.tga ... myfile100.tga while Premiere wants them to be myfile000.tga, myfile001.tga ... myfile100.tga. I wrote a Windows application that makes renumbering files pretty easy, which I am releasing as freeware. It requires the .NET 3.5 runtime, which you may already have on your machine. As often happens with .NET, the executable file is small. You can find it here: File Seq…

I was wondering if there is a way to convert a 3D Studio Max file to a readable A:M file. I don't know if this is the right place to discuss this but there's a model I've been looking for forever and it's a .3ds file.

Hi all I am starting this thread as a place to announce new products at the 3dfrog store. I will keep them all here so I don't have too many threads. We are pleased to announce that Ronald Nxumalo has submitted an electronic keyboard model. Please check it out here: Ronald's Funkeyboard Other past submissions include houses by Andy Mulia and a delivery truck submitted by David Dustin. I have heard from people who are working on models to submit to the store. If you are working on a model to submit let us know we'd love to hear about it. Thanks a lot folks!

Wasn't someone working on this for A:M? I haven't heard anything in a while. I remember a few people have picked up the task only to abandon it.

Hey guys. I am pretty new to Animation Master. I've had it for years, but rarely used it until now. I was looking at tutorials for Patching...but I do not get how to do it, and have tried many things on my own. Could anyone help me? My goal is to make Shoulders patch with Torsos to give a smooth look instead of two shapes put together, so that when it bends, it shows a whole edge of, lets say, a cylindrical object. Its hard for me to explain. I basically just want smoothness in joints and the ability to round corners. I don't get ANY of the patching systems available in AM. By the way, I am using Animation Master 2002. Thanks.

Any one know of any tutorials for or if there are any problems with some of the plugins out there? I struck out twice here recently when i tried to add some plugins. The first was the Darktree materials symbiot plugin ( couldn't even figure out what to do with that) but i think that one was because i have a Mac. The other was the cellfx.trb from yves possiant. I put it in the turb folder but when AM started up it said there was an error with the file. Anyone else have these problem or am i just completely inept

Anyone else out there own the darktree program? If so could you create a new darktree, in side the darktree program, using the external component and use an image map for color, bump and spec and then save it out and open in AM v13. I get black X's on my mesh. This worked in v12 for the most part except during some renders I would get little back squares in my renders. I have contacted Darktree about this and submitted a report here. Just want to know if anyone else can confirm it. I have a material that I created back in v10 that has always worked and now in v13 its a no go. I even tried to recreate it from scratch in both programs. if we could get more ma…

There use to be a light plug-in that I can't remember the name of it. I've tried doing searches for animation master light plug-ins but still can't find it. All I can remember is that the website that offered it, there was a rabbit model and a few shapes in the background of the image that showed the results of the plug-in. If anyone knows of it and it's still around, could you post a link? Thanks and i know it's been awhile since I've been here and I know of the other skylight rigs but was just wanting to test this one.

This is the printed version of the A:M Technical Reference that is available online. I have edited it and formatted it to get it into book form. It is print-on-demand through cafepress. When you order a book, they print it, bind it, and ship it to you. It is black and white, 226 pages, $23.98 You can get it here: http://www.cafeshops.com/zandoria.9928938 I am planning on doing a new one for V12 later this spring. If you are using the current version of A:M (11.1) then the first chapter on INTERFACE is obsolete, so just ignore it. There is documentation of dynamic constraints properties on the online version that was unavailable when this version was published-…

Finishing a walk cycle (i.e. mirroring the left half to the right half) is tedious--there's a ton of copy bones/shift timeline/paste mirrored work involved, and that's assuming everything goes well. If you're unlucky enough that you need to tweak an existing walk cycle, you aren't going to want to use the "key skeletal" filter for fear of overriding existing keyframes, which means you're going to be spending a long time copying and pasting individual bones so you don't mess up the rest of the cycle. But there's no reason this process can't be automated! All the necessary information is right there in the action file--all it should take would be a simple script. …

Hi All, I have recently purchased the SkyCast plugin and I have been experimenting with it. Overall it seems to add a lot to my Renders...however, I don't seem to be getting the same kind of quality that others have been producing. I would like to know if anyone has any guidelines or suggestions on how to setup the lighting just right. Also, I tried the SkyCast on an indoor scene (baically made a hole in a wall and wanted to see what would happen. Apparently, the SkyCast light goes right through the walls? Not sure why. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Eugene

I just discover that Pauline is one of the new character for poser, and I think they had a game engine in mind with that model, because I just notice that Pauline have about half the polygon that Victoria 4 have. I was able to import Pauline into Hash, and has very few patch issues. It also moves around inside of Hash and quite workable. This might be the workflow in getting a ready made model into Hash. They also have Paul the male figure that im guessing about the same level of polygon suitable for import.

Someone asked me if I know of a free program that would convert TGA to JPG so they can print it. Well I found one and it works very well for the PC. Its called FastStone Image Viewer. It makes converting and printing a snap. During its install only select the file formats that do not normally come up in windows as its defaults such as TGA files. Now from AM you will be able to right click on the image and select Launch in Associated Applications and it will put up a full screen image. Right Click to bring up a menu to save-as or print. After your done right click to get the menu and close. Its not perfect but its free and you never have to leave AM just to print a qu…

Hey guys, in the updating of my site, I'm going to try and put up things that I think people might find useful. I had included on my Joint CD an app I wrote called "CamCalculator". Basically it calculates the x and y pixel values needed for rendering for print media. Is this revolutionary - nope. You can use photoshop to do the same thing... but maybe some people don't have photoshop? Anyhows, you can find it at my site under "FreeStuff". thanks Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com www.vrcops.com

Posted this in response to someone needing to build movies from individual images. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, I put up the files for the app that builds quicktime movies. It's in a trial period.... about a month then it expires. The reason? Cause I plan on fixing the app up and I don't want buggy copies floating around. HOW TO USE - 1. have folder of sequentially numbered files(jpg, pic or tga) format of "0.tga, 1.tga etc works best) 2.if you change the default name of "movie", then rename it with ".mov" extension. you can get it at either www.3dartz.com or www.vrcops…

Hello All, I'm curious if anyone has the free AM supporting tools posted by Jun Kawa on his Japanese website many years ago. Jun Kawa was the guy that made the iMac girls. I can't get them on his page through the Wayback Machine website, but here it is for reference. Some of the site pics still load, so you can see what the apps did. I can post some examples here if people are interested. https://web.archive.org/web/20050301215701/http://www.core.jsdi.or.jp:80/ggg/ The tools were super useful for complex objects in Animation Master format (create in each app, open AM, open a new MDL in AM, R-click, and import the v.4 SEG file created by each tool). The old …

Hi all, I don't know if this has been mentioned on the forums yet. I haven't seen anything about it, so thought I'd post about it myself. Just in case. I've been going through the Tutorial section of the forums, and found a number of helpful video tutorials in Flash format. Sadly, Flash has been discontinued, and isn't well supported anymore, making watching those tutorials difficult. However, I did find a handy, stand-alone tool, direct from Adobe, that allows you to open and view them still. Here's the link: https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html The recommended download is the "content debugger" version. I don't know if it makes …
