Hi all, I need to model an item with just a photo, and one measurement of a side of the item. I thought I could set up an choreography with the camera matching the perspective of the photo, then model the item there. But after an hour trying to set the camera, still no go. Anyone have done this before, or has this been discussed before? Cheers, Rijk

Hello dumb question here. I got my new reg code for AM from the store to work on my Mac, but using the code on my PC or copying over the Mac “lic” file to the PC didn’t work. What am I missing? You can tell I don’t upgrade often. ;-)

Resampling

Surfing on the board I came to an example of someone who wanted to explore the new advantages of AM17. It was an example of, I think resampling a model. It had a model cached out locked and it showed how to add new splines on the model that were positioned with help of the magnetic mode. In this way it is possible to recreate the model in another spline fetched . I looked several times but I can't find it.

Last year several of us embarked on learning C++ using a free Udemy course. We made some progress but got sidetracked about half way through so we're going to start from Square One again. If you are interested in C++, the language A:M and A:M plugins are written in, here's your chance to get in on the ground floor. The course advances in very small increments, it should be more than accessible to anyone who uses A:M. I made it all the way through to the end of the curriculum and got all the projects to work, so i can probably answer any question that comes up in the course of this course. Try to export the model (.obj) from Amimation: Master to import (.obj) into Blender then try lighting and Render. Try both Render Engine: Eevee and Render Engine: Cycles, with Render having clear background (alpha). And then overlapping a background, adding a (bobby) graphic logo, and adding text in GIMP

Today is the first day that I have tried in Version 19 to drag an action file shortcut onto a model. I have the action file. I have a shortcut in the library. I have the library on the monitor just below the Properties. When I click to drag the shortcut over the model, there is a very small icon that begins over the Project Work Space separately from the mouse arrow, but will not go over the highlighted model that I want to apply it to. The model does not have the unpickable sign on it. The arrow goes entirely off the monitor and the shortcut is not even on the middle of the screen. I'd prefer to stay with Windows 7 but the end of security updates in a few weeks means it's time to move on. Although MS doesn't promote it anymore, you can still upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 free. Here's how you can still get a free Windows 10 upgrade I'm sure it's not an accident that they still allow it, not after all the attention this ZDnet article has gotten. Of course it is possible that some programs you have used on Windows 7 will not work on Windows 10. For now, i am keeping one of my computers on Windows 7 because of that since this upgrade seems not to be reversible.

I know DarkTree textures were rolled into AM at some point and the plugin is available...but how do you go about making new textures to use with the plugin? Are they still selling the software? Or did it go the abandonware route? It looks like their website hasn't been updated since 2010.

Hello Hashers- I am getting those notices that Microsoft is ending their security patch support for Windows 7 on January 14th, 2020. I have 3 computers running Windows 7 Pro and I am trying to figure out a way to avoid buying new Windows 10 operating systems and re-installing everything on 3 computers.....with the possibility that some of my other software might not be compatible with Windows 10. Is anyone else facing this prospect and does anyone know of a solution rather than buying the $50 a machine fee Microsoft is charging to extend their Windows 7 support for 12 more months? Windows 7, AM v19.oi Nvidia grafx card Shaded view once used to show decals but now they don't show up. Nothing updated, nothing changed. Had tried to update Nvidia driver but could find NO button or function in the Nvidia control panel to do so, So Nothing has changed yet - no decals without doing a render. any help appreciated

I was wondering if it would be possible to create a decal that had a transparent background and to apply that decal to a transparent model. For example, I am creating a pine tree, and I am concerned about the needles. Probably, I could create the needles as hair on the pine tree branches, but that takes a lot of computer memory. Could I instead make a decal that had a transparent background and apply it to a part of a sphere that was transparent and then attach the part of the sphere to the branches? I have taken a photograph of pine needles to which I could add color for the needles and make the background transparent. Attached is my photograph. I was interested in opini…

I just received a new computer for my birthday and Christmas. I can try it out for a week and take it back to the store, if I want. I sent in a request for a trial version of A:M 19 to see how the graphics card works on this computer. If you see my name and wonder why I am requesting a trial version after all these years, that's why.

All of a sudden the keyboard controls are not doing what they have always done. I may have inadvertantly hit Control/something and changed what the keys do? Is there a way to get the keyboard settings back to a default setting?

I would like to run AM on a computer not connected to the internet, but I have learned the use of the disc as a key is no longer an option for the newer programs. If I connect a computer to my internet connection to download the newer program, then disconnect it, will the program still run?

Hi all, since there is not going to be any more Mac versions for the next Catalina Os, I’m building a new PC rig for AM and some other CAD apps, I got a super cheap ( free ) 2012 Dell Optiplex 9010 min tower, the offer was too good to refuse, its was used as print server for a Xerox printer, it has a 3.7 i7 processor, 20gb of ram and currently a Nvidia GT 640 1gb card, I can max out the ram to 32gb, but was wondering about the video card, the case is a Mini tower and it can have half length graphics cards in the PCI slots - I can Frankenstein it and cut out the HD enclosures to fit a full length card if necessary. I’m thinking about upgrading to a AMD RX 580 …

Pretty sure everyone needs this: http://djv.sourceforge.net/ Some pluses: - Actively developed - Open Source (view the code on either sourceforge or github) - Cross platform (Win, Mac, Linux) - OpenEXR support (see Layers menu) - Distro'd with ffmpeg (presumably includes a build of ffmpeg that is compatible with BSD license) - easily convert files/sequences to other formats - Multithreaded raster processing/playback (using OpenGL 4.1 apparently) - etc. - etc. See: Documentation The latest release (which is the one you want to have) is a Beta release.

Windows 7, AM v.19Oi. System sound working fine. Import sound "cartoonhammer" from AM disc, dragged onto action, dragged onto chor but no sound plays. System sound is working. Right clicking on sound file and Play but no sound. What am I doing wrong???

I have a number of files that have been generated in Photoshop and saved as .tga files. AM will not import them, although it imports .tga files that were made by AM in the past. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks, marigoldatwork.

I am trying to import files that have alpha channels in them. Sadly these are comprimised in - *.pdf - *.psd - *.pxr - *.raw - *.tiff extentions. These extentions can not be imported in Animation Master. Is there a plugin that can do so?

Got a character constrained to a path-when it reaches the end of the path I want to have it sit down but when I add keyframes it makes a keyframe at frame 1 of the chor. - wiping out all the previous animation for that joint. I know chor. animations take priority over actions but isn't there a way to BLEND the two?? Thanks in advance.

EXR IO 2.0 for Photoshop has been released. This won't do much for those without current Photoshop/Adobe CC but for those that have it... Among other things, EXR IO is said to extract all channels from an EXR file and place them into separate layers in Photoshop. OK OK I should know how to do this by now and I've done it in the past but now can't get environment maps to work - they're sticking like decals. AM v19oh on Windows OS7 New material - attribute/plugins/hash/environment maps and Global axis is ON and the object is moving around in Chor. but environment map is sticking like decal. Any help appreciated.
