GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).
-Post links to your work, or where your art is being used online (on websites, in games, toons', etc.)
-Search the A:M Forum and FAQ. The question you are about to ask may have already been answered.
-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.
-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.

-No very general questions like: "how do I make a good 3D model" make your questions as complete and concise as possible.

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

i recentaly saw a cool wizzard use in witch a font wizzard was used to make a fish that was golden brown and still smiling and that got me thining , is there a wizard that would take a picture and create a model from it ( noting that it woud need to be cleaned up ) .

ok iv been told that by using this constrant you can make it so that a bove can only move in specific directions , i have robotic arm and it has 3 joints 1 goes left and right , while the other 2 are up and down , (think a tarancalas leg) how do i set these up to work correctly as i tried myself but they didnt apperantly kick in

ok i found out that having a spline in the main animation screen works really well for moving a flying object , how every it seams to auto set the movement from start to end without proper setup Ie i wanted a "asteriod" to over 50 secons slowly come in and eventualy hit the ground , but it hits at 20 seconds and for the life of me i cant figure out how to change this

I assume from absence of any real information in guides that it is not possible to use any form of scan software (eg on clay models) to develop character in Hash... characters must be created by the stitching method described I think. Any advice welcome. also about importing characters from other programmes outside Hash... I understand that inanimate objects can be imported. Are there any tools for converting an inanimate object from say 3dstudio max into an object that can be animated in hash? Many thanks. Look forward to responses! I have this wolf model, but I need some help with it. I have some stubborn folds that won't go away. I'm also getting this weird line in the middle of my wolf's head when it's in toon render. Also if anyone has a tip on my wolf be sure to tell me. in part of my movie that i am making its from the vision of one of my units and i have built a HUD to use only problem is i cant get it to stay exsactly where it is in realation to the camera no matter how many frames i edit , the hud is a transparent set of surfaces that allso has some movement itself . any ideas

Part of my animation sequence is moving to slow and I'd like to time compress it by about half. However there are dozens of keyframes affected. Is it possible to time compress/expand a section of an animated sequence without having to go and tweak all keyframes? I've been scouring through the timeline but can't figure out if this is possible.

ok heres the deal 1 have one tank modle comprised of a base bone the turret and the gun barrel i have it sit still from time 0 to 5 seconds from 5 to 10 seconds the turet moves left 45 degrees then right 90 then back left 45 from 10 to 15 seconds the barrel does the same thing only up and down and from 15 to 20 seconds the tank moves forware out of frame as far as a know this was simpal but when moving through the animation using the preview bar starting from frame 0 it starts moving forward and the 2 seperate turret movments are combined as well , what am i doing wrong

Hey guys! I'm back! I just dug out my copy of A:M 2005 - ver. 11.1 to use for my new film, and it won't work! The program loads and stays active for approx. 5 minutes and freezes over and over again. Any ideas? I know that you all are going to tell me to buy the new one, right? Please don't do that to me. What's weird is that when I hit control+alt+delete it just shows that A:M is running fine... I was on here a few weeks ago with the missing library problem. I spoke with an individual from Animation Master at Wondercon a few weeks ago and he told me how to fix the problem I was having. He told me go to www.hash.com/lib and the instructions are there but when i get to step number 3 the program shuts down. "animation master has unexpectedly shut down would you like to relaunch the program". I have relaunched it several times and I have even removed the program from my mac and attempted to re-install it but the same thing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions. So... I am superimposing something I created in A:M over a video. The object has to move in unison with the video background. Is there a video rotoscope option? Or... do I have to make an animated decal and slap it up as if it were a rotoscope?

Hi! I am trying to export Eddie with the *.x-export by Obsidian Games to Quest3d. So far so good... everything seems to work very well. So I tried to add a simple eye-lid (just half of a sphere which is bigger than the eye itself. I gave it a bone at the center of the eye and attached it to the head-bone (children of the headbone). Now I made an animation (action). It is looking good in Animation:Master. Then I exported it. That works well too, but somehow the animation on the eye-lid isnt in the right place. Hey, I havnt been able to be using AM for a long time because of homework problems, and ive been trying to get it back up. anyways, Im needing a bit of help. I am exporting a character with Animation to Quest with the Osidian-Export. Now I got the problem, that the character is always coming in mirrored (that means what was on the right will be one the left. To solve this, I would go the easy road and do all the animations visversa. But now I made a mistake and animated not mirrored. So is there a plugin or a function which can bring all the animation in the action from one side to the other and visversa? *Fuchur*

Hello - I posted earlier on creating an ECG oscillation that is going to be showing on on a monitor. I was able to create it in flash export it as an .avi and import it into AM as a targa sequence - I applied it to the monitor and it works great. My question is how do I make it loop? Do I somehow create it as an action - and have it play the length of the video? If so how do I turn it into an action? Thanks - Eric

I've tried this over and over again, I've exported both quicktime and avi and i get the same result. What I'm trying to do is export my animation in widescreen (1.2) and no matter how many times I try it, it exports in fullscreen, (0.9). Anyone know how fix this?

So I just broke down and bought a subscription and I'm sooooo relieved to see how stable it is and that it's almost the same as A:M. However, when I open my old models in the new version they are different...and not for the better. It looks like there's spline issues that cause surfacing problems. Is there a simple answer as to why would this happen? Sorry if this uestion has been asked over and over. Also, is there a way to load pictures onto this site just so people can look at them at help me out with things like this? Thanks for looking. -PM

Im having a heck of a time with this one. Im working on a planet shot of SATURN and the globe itself is fine but doing the rings is killing me. Found some MAPs for transperancy as well as a separate one's for color. Nothing I cant duplicate my self but the problem is that it is just a cross section of the disk. Basically when you look at it, its just bands of various color or lines contained in a rectangular framed picture ( if you can figure out that discription). I have no idea on how to get the one stamp to repeat itself around a selected axis so that when it renders you get bands of transperancy around the disk. Does that make any sense? Hello, I forgot how to NOT display back faces in the modeling window. Would someone be so kind to enlighten me as to how I turn them off? Thanks, George [edit] I found it! For anyone else wondering, to set your model display to not show the back faces (makes it a lot easier to see where to flip normals), first you have to set your render mode to shaded (the default is final). Then the option to "show back facing poly's" is available in the render options. Check out the pic. George

I can't get the AM to find he license manager. I have done exactly what the instructions said. The dongle is runnig but the software can't find the license manger. I am running 2k3 server , which the dongle is attatched to. The license manager is running. Don't know what I am donig wrong Help Thanks.

I seem to have misplaced some free animation master models had believed they came with the extras cd volumn 1 but was unable to locate them anywhere they are the Office Props models, stored a small assortment of desks, chairs, and various other office models figured i might be able to use em for my animation considering they are not my primary focus

This is odd... I have been using the "copy keyframe" and "paste mirrored" creating a walk cycle for a chacter and it has been working fine - then for some reason it will not "paste mirrored". It doesn't paste anything. I have shut down AM and restarted it, and also rebooted the computer and still have the problem. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Hi - I am working on a character for a client and she want the char's cheeks to turn pink at a certain point in the animation. Is this possible to do w/ a decal in an action over let's say one second - having the decal transparent at 0 - then non-transparent at one second? Or even set as a pose slider?
