User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

In the video I am doing I need a classic cartoon fight cloud. Everyone has seen one and I am hoping it has been done before here successfully. If not I will just have to make a step by step fight, but the genre of how my toon looks, really calls for the fight cloud. Any help?

What is the official "CREATE" button after making a new pose? I'm making sliders for different facial expression elements (eyebrows raised, etc.) but after carefully putting all the teeth in place for a "mouth agape" pose, I closed the window, and when I started working on another pose, the last new pose slider no longer had any effect! Is there an official "save" function for a pose you're working on? I'm trying out renaming right now. I remember the TAO:AM tutorials always left renaming the pose for the last action. Hopefully that's significant.

After some weeks I wanted to restart my exercise on "Taking A Walk" and I saw to my surprise I couldn't add frames to my Act folder? The numbers just run on, but as I changes the bones structure, the arrow doe'sn't appear. After that, when I go back to the first frame, the whole animation freezes in the last frame. I don't know what happened, the last act folders have nothing wrong and show the good framenumber. But for some strange reason I can't edit new frames. I reïnstalled the programm, but the problem isn't solved. Could it be new software I have installed recently?

i have the non-shift particle hair on my character's head and every time i move them in the relationship/pose area, the hair doesn't move with them. i tried moving the hair with the groom brush and it worked, but it lost its original shape. is this the only way to move particle hair or is there another way? (is there a way to assign bones?)

I recently bought a secondhand Imac because my main PC was going 'wonky'. I went to install AM from the CD and got the message that 'It can't install AM because the OS needs to be 10.4 or higher ' I think the Imac came with 10.3? or so ( you may gather I am a fairly recent convert to the world of Macs ). Is there anyway around this or do I have to get 10.4 or higher ? I was trying to install what was, I thought, AM13 although I also have 14 available. Thank you for your consideration. regards simon

Hello All- If you view the attached picture you will see that the goal is to create a rigging whereby a Pose Slider can cause a larger tube to cover up a slender hose over time. I tried rigging the larger tube with a simple parent child boning situation however, because of the curve in the line, when the first parent bone is scaled down, it causes all of the children to collapse vertically and so the larger tube does not adhere to the curve of the slender hose. I thought of constraining to a path but was hoping that it could all be done with a simple Pose slider. Any suggestions are appreciated!! Thanks! Tom

Greetings, I'm considering purchasing A:M, and I merely need to know if the $79.00 A:M Subscription is required in order to install and use A:M? Are there any other plug-ins that I will need to purchase in order for A:M function at its full capability? I work with Zbrush 3. Does A:M allow for the import of 3ds., Collada, or obj. files for rigging? Thanks, Terry

Hello, I am looking into different 3d animation programs and found out about Animation Master. I am mainly interested in animating realistic people, like the kind that Poser and Daz3d can do. But A.M. seems to be easier to use so that's why I'm considering it. I've looked at the A.M. examples and have read some forum messages but I'm not quite sure if A.M. is best for what I need so I thought I'd ask here. Specifically, I read that importing Poser/Daz3d human models into A.M. is not wise, but how hard is it to build a "person" from scratch in A.M.? Do A.M. humans look as good as Poser/Daz3D humans? I saw the talking male head in A.M. and that was pretty imp…

When I model, I never use the bias - I always fill out with splines. I am sure that I should be using the bias handles, but I always seem to get creases instead of the nice curves I am looking for. Do "real" modellers always use bias to get definition? What's the secret to stopping that little handle from slipping out of control all the time? Is the secret to create the mesh as far as possible and only then tweak?

All I'm trying to do is to have a ball rotate 360 degrees on the Y axis. If you look at it from the top, what happens is it goes counter clockwise to 180 degrees then goes back to zero clockwise. What I used to do was just set the rotation to 359 degrees and then it would rotate once. What do I have to do in AM? I know I'm missing something simple. Thanks

I'm working on a shot where a driver is seen from the front of their car. I've added subtle shakes, which have added a lot, but I definitely need objects to zoom by. I'm not a stickler for their non-uniformity (we can pass systematically placed palm trees for all I care), but I've encountered a problem: The first passing tree was nice. The second one I set up to complete the same distance in the given time, and then dragged its keyframes forward in the project workspace. Now it DOES pass by later, but during the time before its first keyframe, it appears stationary at (0,0,0). This is obviously unacceptable. What am I missing here?

Right, I'll try and explain my problem here as best I can. It started a while ago after I did the "Door is stuck" animation. I completed the exercise and I went back to it to re render it and when I played it in the editor each keyframe stays there while it carries on and it seems to kind of create a copy of the same model at each keyframe. So I end up with my model at the end of the small animation being a mess of what looks like lots of models all in one. Then I was working on something yesterday and the keyframes slowly started deleting themselves when the animation bit finished. it will output to an animation file ok, there is noting like this on the ac…

I'm starting a job soon, teaching teens to make movies. Since I've been dabbling with A:M, I was thinking of showing them some of the basics, get them excited about special effects. However, I'm registered on my home computer. If I go to one of my work computers, can I log in my account and use A:M? It's fine if it deactivates my home copy until I re-log-in there, I'm really not trying to pirate it. I'm trying to see if I can bring it to a class, that could very possibly get some kids to save up for their own copies. Of course, if the answer is a simple no, I understand. Whatever it takes to keep this awesome team employed I could talk to my bosses about …

Once I've created the "poses" involved, the biggest factor becomes timing. Of course, sometimes I didn't make keyframes where they belong. This results in a lot of selecting all the body-part keyframes down a particular frame, and then moving them. But my monitor isn't big enough to make "selecting all the different body parts' keyframes" into a graceful motion. There's a lot of scrolling involved to even reveal all the keyframes at a given frame! Is there an easier way to distort an object or project's timing?

I'm making facial poses right now, and I find that lots of emotions have common traits (for example, both anger and sadness would have a slouched mouth). So my question is, once I've made one pose, can I select the positions of SOME cpts and then use those to jump-start a new facial pose? I hope people don't mind me asking as many questions I can think of- this board's response time is too good to pass up

I made a group for "top eyelids" but realized I wanted to move them independently at times. So I selected "top eyelids," hit "G" for group mode, held alt and deselected one eye's cpts. But NOW my "top eyelids" group doesn't select the cpts I deselected at that moment. Is there a way to narrow your cpt selection from a group without altering that group?
