Xtaz Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Last year I decided that the investment in tools for 3D design would be paid through funds obtained through 3D work .... I did some contracts that guaranteed the purchase of some hardware ( bamboo )/ software ( A:M Paint, A:M Track 2, ToonBoom storyboard ). But now the fund is over, aiming at the TDP 2020 project I still have some shopping to be done (- One year subscription / - Jenpy plugin ). Almost everything I know about A:M I learned here in this forum, and to give back many years and years of advice and guidance, I decided to make available for free all car models that I made during these years together with you. if you think I deserve it, make a donation of any amount in my PayPal account and help me continue with my projects. As you know, I am without my desktop so without access to the A:M. The available models were in a backup, so it is possible some of them come without some materials or decals. let me know. Xtaz Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 is this still available for download ? Hi... I'll try to fix download page next weekend... Quote
a.quaihoi Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Thanks man, I'm modelling a car at the moment for a tv show pilot intro animation for RC cars and would like to study how you create your patches because they are awesome ! Appreciate you sharing that rig for the bmw just what I needed and robcats video on suspension spring ! this is the 2nd build, I have found fleshing out the panels in this way with simple geometry to hit the sweet spot of the look I was trying to achieve, now I can weld the panels together and add the chassis / wheels and suspension . . . 1 Quote
John Bigboote Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Wow, A.Q... THAT is some amazing 'minimal splinesmanship'... are you making this model for gaming purposes? Quote
a.quaihoi Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hi JB, this is the second build, the first one I made had more subdivisions and started to get messy, I had to " think simple " and practice the " Zen of AM " - I looked at models from Xtaz and they looked awesome but I could see a lot of hours went, into that ( not ideal for production ), I wanted to see his path work / mesh in one of his models, then I had the light bulb moment - first flesh everything out with minimal patches, scraped the first build and did this, it took almost the same time but the trick is to really concentrate on the lines and curves - I suddenly realised that designing good looking cars is very tough - the hardest thing being capturing the essence of it in minimal design, usually I "know " when I have hit it right - your mind has that moment of clarity and accomplishment of a tough puzzle that you have been trying to figure out for a week, my test is to go to bed, wake up and have a look at it with fresh eyes, if it gives you satisfaction then its a winner and I got this with the car - quite pleased with it actually and you're right - very minimal - tried to keep everything in quads, you could use this for games I suppose, I'm actually producing some IOS games myself but just 2D at this stage, but I have a few concepts and characters I have that I will build a game with one day ! Suppose this is good training for that. Need to incorporate exporters for Unity game engine - I'll bug Hash when the time comes for that ha ha . . . This is for Dylan Perry from Momentum Animations which is now called Perry Animations, for a show they are doing with RC cars, its going to be used for intro and in show animations, I actually met Martin and his Wife there last week at his place when they were on their last leg of the journey from their tour, I didn't get much time to talk to Martin as I arrived late but it was great to met Mr Hash himself. I'll post up stills and animations as things go along, the last thing I built for him was a highly detailed bike on legacy Mac Pro, I think AM has issues with Nvidia Quadro video cards though, it gives me hell with rotoscopes and texture rendering 1 Quote
Xtaz Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Nice model... If you want to avoid creases, you must use a more fluid splinage solution... bike.zip Quote
Xtaz Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 is this still available for download ? Here is it, a ZIP file with 5 cars that I modeled: - BMW X5 - CAMARO - PEUGEOT 206 - BEETLE - SHELBY GT500 https://www.patchwork3d.de/am-models-197-en 1 Quote
Fuchur Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Hi Marcos, would it be okay for you, if I would put those on my website for download? Of cause all the credit would be given to you, but only to hold them available when the dropboxus-link will timeout? See you *Fuchur* Quote

a.quaihoi Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Thanks for download ! Yes for the bike I see how you do it , I was trying to avoid 5 point patches at all costs ( and save on geometry ), the mesh looks yucky but it renders smooth, thanks for the tip, I'll keep that piece if anything comes up in the future that I can use it for Quote
Fuchur Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Hey Marcos, thank you very much . I have uploaded them to my website and they can be found here: https://www.patchwork3d.de/am-models-197-en Let me know if you want me to link to something else . See you *Fuchur* Quote
