Tried another reflective idea this with two layers and a rotating sphere(peaked) with one light it only rotates a little since the render time and size would not allow more [attachmentid=11067] this used the fire tgas posted in another area on two layers and one larger sphere with all points peaked and made reflective reflect1.mov

Here is the last of the Dinosaurs that we had/have on eggprops. So now we have a complete set. Again this one was done by Brian and Joe and now (after I re-worked a lot of the rigging and tail geometry) works perfectly in the latest versions of A:M. And here it is! Enjoy.

Soap Opera

Hi all: I finally got around to compressing the final version of Soap Opera. For those who don't know, it's a five-minute slice of Mozart's Don Giovanni performed by the denizens of a bathroom. "You'll never look at Pert Plus the same way again!" This version premiered at the D.C. Shorts Festival in September 2005. (I think, technically, it was first shown at the Hash SIGGRAPH party, but I won't tell D.C. Shorts if you don't.) Its next appearance will be at the Cleveland Film Festival this March. I wrote and animated it, Jeff Lee produced the music, and we both modeled it. Special thanks to David Rogers for an exhaustive lighting critique (which I trie…

Well, i've worked on this in my spare time between school and other things. I'm pretty new at A:M and this is actually the first model that i actually have rigged. I still have to rig the antenna and fix the riging of the legs. And also increase the amount of patches in the head, because it renders really wierd as you will see in the photo. Comments and Critiques are definately welcome! Thanks

There it is! Again Joe and Brian were involved in this guy. The thing I really like about this model is the fact that the decals don't cover the whole dino. . . but they blend in perfectly with the materials underneath. Its a really great piece. You can check it out <here>.

Hello all I'm using this project as an excuse both to get a lot of A:M practice in and get some extra credit in my English class. I'm not on any deadline, I just thought it would be fun to make this poster. It depicts Bilbo's Journey from start to finish, with focus on the generic elements of a Hero's Journey (call to adventure, helpers, etc.). I've been working on and off on it since school started. Here it is about halfway done. I still have to put in the Eagles and/or a bear, the goblins, some background stuff, maybe Gollum, pose the Dragon, and anything else you all think of. I have a few questions about what I have so far. You can download the entire project (10…

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Ken Baer and James Hash when they were in London for MacExpo. They mentioned that they are always looking for more promotional material so, when this came to mind while I was playing with some Loons, I decided to just do it. This is pretty rough but not bad for just over a days work on the animating. I hope to refine it, get rid of the camera motion, and add another 5 seconds at the end sometime. And of course there are no textures yet, except his eyes and eyebrows. The attached movie file is pretty low res.

Fellow AMers: I’m building a model of a WWII fighter plane and I’ve run into a decaling challenge that I didn’t foresee with the canopy. The plan was to use a simple spline geometry for the canopy shape, apply a glass material to the shape and then add a detailed decal to represent the canopy support structure (frame) on top of that. It appears that the frame structure decal is adopting the transparency of the underlining glass material, which makes the frame almost completely transparent. I can see that this would be a good thing in most cases, i.e. making sure that the decal has the correct surface properties, but this there a way to turn this off for the tr…

I've been working on figuring out how to create a furry character for a few weeks, and have had very little success with Animation Master's hair material. What I've been able to get so far: http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote0.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote1.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote2.jpg All slightly different variations of the density settings. But you can see why I'm having problems. The fur looks too uniform in placement, even with the position variation set to 100%. Recently I installed the DarkTree plugins, and got the spotted fur texture applied to her after working on materials to get the fade …

Just a quick test using an animated sprite to make fire. I have already posted this on the Movie Forum, but I'd want as many as possible to comment on it. After going to the Dan Holtz's Race Experience, I decided that I would model the Mesa Marin track. one reason is because I almost broke the track record in a car with only half the horse power. The other reason is the track is scheduled for destruction this month. So I decided I would carry on the legacy. I need some help with some things, first I rotated the straights at 7 degrees, and the corners at 18 degrees, that is what the track has, but it looks like it is way more angled than that. When you use the rotate manipulator, and input a number, is that the actual real world degree, or is it different on this program? Any who, here is the still of what I hav…

Hello friends For the last couple of weeks I have been working on recreating my office into A:M. This still a WIP since there are MANY small models yet to create. This is my office (or the entrance of the basement flat that it actually is ) where I spend a lot of time fiddling with A:M I feel like I have achieved the atmosphere pretty well (the room is lit by two spotlights, and the it's actually as dark as that) Its rendered in radiosity (~11hr). I have made but not yet rendered a mx1000 mouse and a mousepad and done some adjustments to the grey keyboard (and there is lot more to add... alot) I appreciate comments or criticism

This is the "glam shot" of the Albertasaur Skeleton Joe Cosman modeled for eggprops a while back. I just re-vamped it a little and added it back on eggprops. I must say it is pretty amazing how much work went into this thing. The tail controls alone are kind of mind blowing. Looks pretty sexy too. You can check it out <here>. And. . . Larry I promise I'll get cracking on the others ASAP.

I've been playing about with A:M for a couple of weeks and got a little too carried away. Once I'd got my head around reusable actions and lip synching, I put together a music video featuring my brother-in-law. If I can finish it in time, it may well be presented to him on a DVD for Christmas! Any tips, pointers, critiques welcomed (don't be too harsh, I'm still battling with the newcomers tutorials....) You should spot that the body is ripped from the Robber and I've had to decal all my facials on, as I'm rubbish at modelling!! here's my latest model of my room. i still have to add a lot a decals to the posters and add some more paintings but at the moment i think it looks pretty good P.S. i know making the edges curved would make it look a lot more real, but that adds twice as many control points to the project and then everything gets really slow. There's something going on with the buildings when the ufo is onscreen. It's got to do with the mo…

Hey Peoples, Here's a new demo reel. (Terrible terrible compression, but this isn't the final version, just something to get feedback on.) Everything done in A:M http://www.alonso-soriano.com/anim/SorianoDemo.mpg 5.4Mb Mpg (so you can view it in whatever you want) What do you think? I'm looking for brutal critiques. What needs to go, where can improvements be made? I know the audio is off (only audio in 1 piece) by a frame or two but I'm pretty sure that happened when I was stitching it all together. Suggestions on order? Some things are from my last demo, do they still belong? Be achingly blunt, please! Thanks. -Alonso
