A:M Forum Rules
GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).
-Post links to your work, or where your art is being used online (on websites, in games, toons', etc.)
-Search the A:M Forum and FAQ. The question you are about to ask may have already been answered.
-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.
-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.
-No flames of any kind.
-No Off Topic posts. (Posts in the Off Topics section should be related to A:M in some form or fashion or benefit the A:M community as a whole).
-No soliciting of any kind without prior approval.
-No threads or comparisons related to other 3D Applications.
-No "Wish list" or feature requests, they should be sent to www.hash.com/reports for categorizing and prioritization (User requests define the future development of the software).
-No "me too!" posts
-No discussion of Hash Internal Affairs (finances, advertising, PR.)
-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)
-No very general questions like: "how do I make a good 3D model" make your questions as complete and concise as possible.
If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

Hi. I purchased the 15.0 v of the A:M DISC (the upgrade from the previous version). I did buy this on this site. Now, when I put the disc in the drive and click the shortcut, it says it can't find the disc? I tried it on two different computers and the same problem appears. Is it the disc? The disc seems "level" when placed on a flat surface..... any ideas please?? update: If I put the disc in, and run the 13.0v shortcut, it runs. But when I run the 15.0v it says "insert the correct DVD-ROM(HASH)". I haven't used this in awhile, so it wasn't sitting by any heat or anything.... update 2: Ok...bare with me. The 12.0 version of the disc has the YETI. …

I want to draw a three point spline that loops hangs between the fingers on a hand....but they are angled instead of curved.

Hi Is it possible to either move the start of my action in the chor to say frame 30, or to start the choreography at frame minus 30. I can stretch all the keys to the right or left (up to frame 0) apart from the first one that seems glued to frame 0. I know should have thought about it in more detail before I started, but I was sure I could tweak it afterwards. I am using v15. Thanks. Hoggy

For example. say im animating a guy jumping. when i get to frame 5:00 or so i start to make him go up into the air but when i do this he starts going up into te air slowly from frame 0 instead of a few frames befor 5:00. i dont know how to make it so i doesnt do this?? is there a certain button or mode to make the movement start from a certain frame instead of from the beginning. Also what is the button force key frame can any of you give me what it does and how to use it etc??

i just upgraded to v15, and now i have 2 problems: i was rigging a character, done that a 100 times before... when i switch on my ik-arms setup in the action the right arm of my character stands curiously out to the right (bild14), when i turn it off and on another time the arm is in the right position, but the elbow-bones are now placed at the shoulders (bild15 & 16)!!!??? something like that never happened before... has anyone an idea whats up there? my second problem is that when i use the skin-shader it affects the white of the eyes of the character, they go hyper-white, no shadows on it at all!

One of the things I always enjoyed looking at, to inspire me with AM, was the old PDF file that looked like a software box, that showed AM's possibilities and feature set. Although its VERY out of date, I miss it. Is there somewhere I can re-download that? I can't seem to find it, one the revamped site. Thanks! John

I created a character wearing a robe. I gave the character bones. I set the lower section of the robe (the hangy-cloth, skirty part) to the default settings for cloth. I then set both legs to be collision objects. As a test, I created a ten second choreography of the character lifting his left leg. When I right-click and go to Simcloth Simulate, the cloth geometry goes all wonky and I get the following message. System found to be unsolvable. Possible causes: forced intersecting geometry, very sudden movement, or other setting... I also created a character wearing a skirt. When I do the same animation, and apply SimCloth, her skirt constantly wiggles around, as t…

Hi. I won a copy of Animation Master in the Renderosity Animation Contest and received my prize yesterday in the mail. The CD is version 12 which when installed won't run on my computer. i´m workin on a hammy-like squirrel-character to learn more about hair. i figured out how to work with decals on hair, in this case i´ve decals for the color, the length and the density of the hair... first i had only one hair system, and it looked totally like a stuffed plush toy... then i added a second one, so that i now have a short one with a high density (375) and a long one with low density (25).. looks way better now, but i´m still not satisfied. i still get this kind of pattern, it looks not really natural... i thought about adding a third system, but i doubt my computer can take any more. the image i added took about 1 and a half hours to render (multipa…

I created a tucan bird model with feathers (hair). Before I play around with it, I wanted to make sure it is possible if I have the bird flying that the feathers have a "blowing in the wind" look. I did the "Waving the flag" exercise about a year ago, so I'm going to run through that again, but wanted to make sure it would work before I put the time into it. Can anyone advise me on this or even have an animation they have done, that I could see the effect. Thanks - E

Hi everybody, I don't know if I have a glitch or what, but I have had this A:M software for a while and I am finally getting around to using it. I went through the first tutorial (still image of Keekat) and hit the "render to file" button, saving it as a targa file on the desktop as in the online tutorial and the final scene just renders black, no KeeKat. What did I miss? Thanks! Bob

I am following a tutorial on modeling Coopers face. I brought in some rotoscopes for the front and left view. The problem is that when I make the rotoscope unpickable the red cross is on the little gloved hand but the rotoscope is still movable. Makes for frustrating modeling experience. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall or can this be fixed in a faster way?

I saw on another thread from August 3 2007 ( User named "someawfulbridge", post "why can't I bowl cosmically?" ) that someone else had the exact same issue. A Hash person responded that they were able to set up/do the simualtion from the top view in the Chor window and make it work. I tried that and had no luck. I am refreshing my memory with the online Ref Manuel for Hair/Fur http://www.hash.com/Technical_Reference/v110/Hair.htm They refer to "Stiffness" below - I am just not seeing that setting in the Hair System or Hair Emitters properties "Stiffness: Controls how stiff or ridged each hair strand is. The stiffer the value the less affect dynamics and forces such as gravity has on the hair. This value is a percentage to adjust all the child Hair Emitter's Stiffness values." Has it been changed or located somewhere else in v14? -E
